  • I'm not sure what you've done to this machine, for it to take 1:30 to boot up, but my zg5 150, only takes 20secs to boot to login? 1.5gb ram, 120gb hdd. Replaced wifi card with a dw 1390, airport works perfectly. Lan works, sound/microphone/webcam works. SDHC and sleep are the only things not running on 10.6.2, neither concern or are of use to me anyway. I guess this clip is pretty old :P

  • Great lighting...

  • I'm running OS X on my PC almost a year from now. I suffered a lot at the very beginning to install it but now I just don't know how to live without it. It isn't because the os is better than the others. Is that I'm already wont and also so addicted to the GUI that I can't leave it anymore.....

  • Use Linux on Aspire one (or any other computer) it needs no antivirus software (it does have a inbuilt firewall) and uses 200 mb ram when idle, you can have many windows open still uses less than xp lol...

  • Have you tried using Flashfire?

  • How many things don't work?

  • Sir, can you provide a link? or PM me the link where i can download OS X. Thank you.

  • @Pavelkovinru Google Hackintosh or OS X86

It's a lot to learn about. I've been trying it for about a year and now only know how to do it.

There's lots of technical information, but don't let me put you off trying it. Just don't flash any BIOS's until you're confident about installing OS X86.

  • @Pavelkovinru Check out The pirate bay search for "Mac OS X 10.6.3 retail"

  • CAN SOMEONE HELP E PLEASE..... WHEN I BOOT INTO CD... IT WONT PASS THE WHITE SCREEN WITH THE APPLE SIGN IN IT... CAN SOMEONE HELP ME PLEASE.. I DONT KNOW WHAN IM DOING WRONG... MY EMAIL IS ANTONIO52594@LIVE.COM...

  • Try Windows 7 instead, use vLite to get the OS to fit comfortably on the SSD. Slot in a SDHC card for more storage. Runs like a charm, Aero and all. :)

  • Linux FTW

  • @genericrealityfilms: no no no netbooks are built with cheap parts. The main thing is the processor: atom vs core 2 duo ?? Sorry apple and netbooks are not comparable.

  • actually just a way to keep the lawyers of the boys in Cupertino of my back ;-)

  • audio works. Search voodooHD

  • For my audio i used AppleHDA :)

  • I think this just shows off how very slow the Aspire One is and the reason that Apple doesn't release a netbook (OSX runs terribly)

  • @flunk77 Get an HP mini and buy an 2 GB Ram upgrade and do the hard drive upgrade as well...it Ran leopard like a charm and saved me an extra 1000$ on a stupid laptop with the same specs and the only difference is a apple logo on top theres =D

  • there ipad isnt much different from a netbook but restricted to an iphone OS isnt it?

  • No, it runs a sized-up iPhone OS.

  • @flunk77 Who's main feature is running downsized iphone apps. ^^

  • @flunk77 Acctually thats false :), the macbook air has the same specs, just thinner but wider for the bigger screen purpose and the full size laptop feel, and of course higher quality with double touch mousepad ect.

  • @908205691838 No, the macbook air has a Core 2 Duo 2GB+ of RAM and a Geforce 9400. You're an idiot

  • @flunk77 Thats after they just recently upgraded all their notebooks...most of em are 1.6ghz "1.6GHz Intel Core 2 Duo - MB003LL"

  • @908205691838 You're completely wrong, the Air has never used an Atom processor and the new Macbooks use Core i5 processors.

  • @flunk77 "1) The processor which comes standard with the MacBook Air MB003LL/A" "Find detailed product information for Used Apple MacBook Air MB003LL/A" " (1.6 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 2GB RAM, 80GB HD)"- onlice resources...

  • @908205691838 WHere did i say atom???

  • @908205691838 You claimed that the Macbook Air previously had the same specs as the Acer Aspire One. Do you have no memory at all? That was the point of this argument.

You've just admited that you're wrong and you are clearly an idiot. This is not worth my time.

  • @908205691838 forgot one "Intel Core 2 Duo processor 1.6GHz"

  • @flunk77 This actually shows how expandable PC's are and how limited Mac's are. Why did Apple enable the use of Windows on their machines? Oh, that's right! Most users use Windows because it is a much freer operating system.

  • @flunk77 Well i havde an Acer Aspire one and i can tell you that it doesn't run anything well. OS X runs terrific on a machine that can actually handle a modern OS.

  • hii men ... the wireless dont work?? please help me...

    thanks

  • Hello 91fablam i might be able to help you get the wireless working may i ask which version you are running? Kalaway, iAtkos, iDeneb?

  • i used the iAtkos...

  • it wont work you need 2 buy a belkin internet card

  • Is this legal?

  • haha no

  • hey men... i installed leopard in my acer. every thing is all right but the sound dont work ?? please help me

  • how can i do this?

  • The guy did it wrong, clearly. if he used the Journaled File System (HFS+) then that will fuck his SSD over time. With a journaled file system on an SSD, load times/write speeds can slow down massively. That is why on an SSD you should install XP on FAT32, not NTFS and in this case OS X on the non-Journaled HFS file system. Read about Journaling file systems, you'll understand :)

Good effort but you should have done a bit of research before hand.

  • too slow to be useable. Good to know that.

  • Mhm any ideas of how to get the drivers to work?

  • hi can you tell me how did you installed this on your need book i want that on mine too

  • noob torrent kaliya cd or such and burn to disk then watch another youtube video

  • this is duper slow, dont think u can even run full fledge applications without slowing down. Think the vmware version (that runs on a high end PC) is the exact replica of this.

  • Это фейк или в реале можно запустиь

  • For you too.

  • It's real

  • show me how to do that

  • Just installed Google Earth...works fine...

  • little more light will be better

  • as you can see. .. as you can see...as i can see my terrapin runs faster.

  • you need to up date your video i have put osx on mine aao 110 works great just run out of room on the ssd drive i get a biger one and i am good to go i used ideneb version

  • Run Google earth.

It probably will not work, beause it's a mono-core system. Under 86Tiger, it didn't work on my PC, some others third apps also froze or where unsynchronised, and some worked fine.

    This makes it useless. (sorry)

  • I have also Leopard with my AA1, but why yours is so slow?? which distribution are you using?? Leopard go fine with Kalyway, and it also can support the native wireless {not only ethernet} only it-s about searching on OSX86 Forums.

For Everyone I Recommend to install it, the netbook is always cool with Leopard!!.

    good video.

  • I encourage EVERYONE to try this at home.

  • sure :) it's not that difficult there are many guides and you can give it a try

  • what the hell you mean don't try this at home. retard.

  • ahahahaha

  • TUInHighDef- wellz it may be illegal, but that formality just makes the accomplishment that much better

  • Really?

  • Some PCs can cost more than a Mac. e.g. Alienware and Sony.

Anyway PCs are the same as Macs, they use the same X86 architecture. Only difference is the supplied supplied OS.

  • AFAICT the MSI Wind is much more suited to being a Hackintosh netbook, in that the sound and WLAN work straight away.

OS X was never designed to work with Realtek HD-Audio and Atheros WLAN which the Acer One comes with.

  • Well right now the only thing that doesnt work is wireless otherwise sound works with drivers or w.e

  • Holy slow...What happened to OSX being more efficient? Windows 7 is SO much faster on these things (Well, on my 900HA at least)

  • 300 bucks for the smallest mac in the world, try to beat that stev jobs

  • it goes very low.. i don't like it!!

  • 2x ?

  • but its worth it

  • more like 4x

regular price of standard pc= about 700$

regular price of standard mac= about 2,500$

  • Please define 'standard pc' and 'standard mac'.

PCs and Macs come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, is there a 'standard' ? I think not.

    Example pricing:

    Aluminium MacBook £1100

    Sony Vaio Z series £1300

.... similar form factor, similar specs on both machines.

  • and the point of it all is?????? my mac cost the same as a comparitive pc

  • The point of this is that you cant get a Mac laptop under $1000. This thing is like $300. A lot of people just need a small notebook for surfing the web & other light tasks. Apple needs to get an affordable netbook asap.

  • Unfortunately the words "Apple" and " affordable" don't belong in the same sentence together.

  • @amguitarman also fortunately the words ''Apple" and "crap" don't belong in the same sentence together not a fan boy just passionate about all computers

  • nope mac are 2 times as expensive as a pc having the same specs....and parts are x10 more expensive... wtf a psu for a mac pro is 500 dollars when i can get one for 50 dollars for a pc

  • 2x? lmao. i can get a faster computer at 1/3 the price of a mac.

  • do u have imovie on that

  • he say in the video kalyway 10.5.2

  • Just have a few questions...

    1. Which distro is it? (iATKOS/Kalyway/iDeneb)

    2. Did you upgrade RAM ? (1.5 Gig OR 2 Gig)

    3. Ethernet/WiFi is working ?

    4. Camara is working ?

    5. Any leopard fix/kext used?

    Let me know. Thanks.

  • wow the power of the aspire one its really amazing just check the HD video-promo I made on an Aspire One of the aspire one at my videos or just here /watch?v=cZH-FYUg20Q

  • it is slow because of the hard disk not the ssd. ssd is way faster than this....

  • The SSD that comes in the Linux version is an extremely cheap one that actually has slower write speeds then the Toshiba HDD that comes with the Windows version of the Aspire One. In general you're right but the Aspire One's a bit of a different case.

  • l agree!

  • And lose tons of money? i don't think so. for the vid: nice!

  • its becouse of slow ssd hard drive, with usual hard drive it boots FASTER :)

  • untru ssd is faster then hdd bitch

  • Hahahaha. HAHAHAHAH.

The ssd drives in the EEEPC/AcerONE etc are NOT faster than a hdd. They are just cheap 8gb SSD drives. You are lucky to get anything over 10mb/s write speeds on the AcerONE SSD. Not to mention they use two models of SSD drive in them, where one is even worse.

  • Oh wow. I'm hurt. Get a clue mate. Go read ANY reviews of the SSD netbooks. They are all slow. The proper SSDs (32/64/128/256gb) are as fast or faster than a decent 3.5" drive. The fact that this video has nothing to do with those shows your incompetence.

Also, cats are faster than dogs (omg prove me wrong. i dare you)

  • i did say tht in one of my other comments as in my main p.c i have a 120GB as my main boot drive :P and no untrue as a fat mother fucker bullterier or something chased my cat and my cat got away! :P

  • & pay attention to previous comments dick!

  • are u sure it boots faster than macbook air? are u serious?

  • ey gozer duurt het elke keer zo lang dat ie moet opstarten?

  • soooooooooooo slooooooooooooooooooooow

  • Yah it took a while to boot, and I don't know his hardware, but on the same base hardware the MSI Wind or Asus EEE PC (900 +) are smoother and boot much faster than the macbook air.

They cost 325 to 500 bucks have 6 hour battery life, and weigh 1 kilo.

  • It takes FOREVER to boot. I wouldn't use this on a regular basis with such long boot time.

  • bro that took sooooooooooooooooooooooo long for it to open = its not worth it

  • not fast, but i haven't found a regular macbook to be much faster. i feel bad for that poor little atom processor

  • You do not void apple's EULA if you stick an apple sticker somewhere on the laptop. That's a loophole in the EULA that pystar are suing apple over.

  • I might get the 120gb one and triple boot OSX Ubuntu and F*cking linpus

  • why does everyone say OS X its pronounced 10

  • X is roman numeral for 10

  • hahaha, I thought X was as in *niX.

  • why do you care. It's right either way so get off your high horse.

  • no its not X is roman numeral for 10

  • No shit Sherlock. OS Ten or OS X? People know what it means either way and it makes more sense to say "X" because that's what people are going to search for. How many people search for OS1086?

  • specialbuddy: dont bother arguing with mactards. they'll take anything against or incorrect about apple as blasphemy.

  • DUDE the last one was os9 so this is os 10! if you type in the terminal say mac os x it will say mac os 10

  • what are you talking about, X is the roman numeral for 10, I think i know i have been using macs since the days before OS X

  • OH you were saying the same as me! sorry!

  • It makes me sad that you seem to imply that you have to be a long-time mac user to know basic Roman Numerals.

  • no not really, I just have been using macs for over 10 years now, thats all and most newbies to macs pronounce it as X rather than 10

  • Actually both is right. You either say "os ten" or "x" (without os). Of course you wouldn't say "os x" because it's pronounced "ouh-ess-sex" and in the u.s. you may carry around guns and shoot japanese tourists that accidentally passed your garden without going to jail -- but if you say something similar to "sex" you get a life sentence!

  • i don't live in america, I live in United Kingdom

  • cool! where? I've got relatives at the south coast (new romney).

  • in Yorkshire

  • way too many unsupported hardware bugs, that suxx

  • If you're planning on doing this, just Google "Paul's complete guide to installing." It will be a tutorial for the MSI Wind, but it works fine on the "One." (However, the Wind runs OSX better, and with internet and sound)

Also, while osx86 DOES void the EULA, Apple will definitely not legally take anyone to court, as EULA violations are easy to defend.

Hopefully Pystar wins its anti-competition lawsuit, and OSX becomes available for all.

  • Man there is a video where Leopard loads 25 seconds from the beginning of a "gray screen with an apple" till the end of it on Acer Aspire One.

However, it was an A150 Model with a usual hard drive (not SSD). That's weird since SSD has to read faster than a hard drive. I guess it's a software issue or something.

  • why bother using Leopard when the acer is obviously under power for it??? let Apple have their own netbooks....im sure they will have their own version due to its popularity

  • Yeah we should just wait for apple to make a lower spec'd model that costs 300 dollars more. Good idea, I think I'll wait for that.

  • geez people quit whining about the slow boot time, my desktop takes about 2 mins to boot OS X & Vista.....neither are fully loaded down with apps, and are clean, and it still takes that long....if u whine about 2 minutes of your life, you need to throw all your electronics outside and go play baseball with them. geez. and nice video EeePcBenelux, i am thinking about gettin the 150, because of the 120gb hd. but nice to know that this thing runs os x :) and as for no sound or wifi, GOOGLE PPL!!!

  • slower than syrup...

  • It's the AAO 110, not the AAO 150. The 150 has a REAL Hdd and is therefore a bit quicker.

  • Oh please. this is unusable. Slow, no audio, not wi-fi. And if you want to sound like you know what you're talking about, the Mac operating system is written OS X (with a space) and pronounced O S ten.

  • /careface

  • oh es ex.

  • I used iATKOS 4 and it works fine

  • If its possible I would recommend tiger, but thanks for showing us

  • id rather stick with my xp than havve this

    over 2 mins to start

  • Well, at the beginning you can see "Darwin/x86" :P

    Any explanation :P ?

  • Yes, at 4:12 - "Kalaway 10.5.2". Watch 'till the end! :)

  • I can explain you :D

Darwin is actually the OS that Mac OS X is based on. On a Mac, you'll never see this because they have their own, hidden bootloader. For further explaination: GOOGLE!

  • Nice, I wish I could install OS X on mine, but I've heard it's hard to do. ...I did install Vista Business, and it boots up quicker?

  • It's cool, but take to much time to boot up. Better use linux.

  • Hi. Can you give me the link where i can download the same leopard that you have installed?

    THANKS!

  • so the same problem running OSX on Acer 3680 with no WiFi no sound and card reader. i was gonna buy one and use dualboot XP and OSX, now i'm draw back...

  • i rofl't @ the intro

    his head and voice megalolz

  • Ah,the loading time is longer than starting a windows vista.

  • do u have tutorial to do this?

  • LOL!..hahaha! =) .MacBook Air is more Better!... and awv31... i'm rich.. i love to waste money...hahaha!

  • I don't know that a MacBook Air is necessarily better. I have an MSI Wind and a MacBook Pro, so I'm certainly not cheap, but the Acer is far more expandable than the MacBook Air, on top of being 5.45 times cheaper.

  • yeah a macbook air makes u rich.a bentley and a 10 million euro house makes u rich not a tiny macbook air.the hardware in the macbook air really isn't worth that much. U mean you love to act retard and spend money on useless things because ur stupid and don't knowwhat do to with it

  • what's the use of this fucking subnotebook??! hahaha!..just use macbook air! lol.

  • The Aspire One is $350. The Macbook Air is $1500. You = Fucking retard.

  • hey do you have the steps you took on how you installed this?

  • nice in theory, but lyk u sed there is still alot more 2 do, but its as nice idea, but i wud just keep it as either XP home or linux for the aspire one, and just buy a mac seperatly (theyre worth it)

    nice vid

  • Wish that SSD was faster. But the price is right.

  • is very very slow..

  • So you have the SSD harddrive and not the 2.5" HDD? Also, do you have a tutorial for this? I'm considering a subnotebook, leaning towards the aspire one...

  • Can I put itunes on the linux version PLEASE???????????

  • Go try Mozilla Songbird instead. It's definitely a rising star. Very much related to iTunes - minus the obsessive control of Apple.

  • is it real or fake????

  • very real.

  • thanks

  • nice
