People liking radio pop music and throwing money at it won't kill or hurt music like this. People make this music because they want to and they love to, and that won't stop. If that wasn't the case then we'd have a hard time finding sincerety in the millions of musicians like this that there would be and we would probably take it for granted. Quit worrying about pop music and other people's business, just listen to what you like. Yoni and millions of other musicians kick ass. That's what counts.
All those pop singers don't have the balls to sing about anything other than sex and partying. Go Hymie's Basement for having the guts to sing about something meaningful and real.
Why can't people appreciate good music without simultaneously complaining about POP MUZIC AND THE MAJORRECORD LABEL MAINSTREAM GRUMBLEGRUMBLE. Shut up and listen to the god damn song
@hideandgoseekjesus it's well written and deliciously palatable. I've listened to them for 4 years.. It doesn't make it Not hipster-like. :) Good day.
America is fast. Fast lives, fast businesses, fast people. They want everything easy and quick; that's how they like their music. Something catchy, fast, then--on to the next one. We're not like other countries. Spain has siestas. Europe has time for tea! That's why it's the same music--mainstream songs. Same. Easy. Quick.
That's why careful, thoughtful, brilliant music such as this is overlooked. Because thought and time will need to be put into it to enjoy it. I'm here--I have time. :)
i thank why? and the others that helped on any of his other songs that are executed very well i am very proud of him and the Anticon family for the music that they produce and more power to them. i just hope they do an Anticon show in Ontario CA
Wow man I remember when this cAme out it was iLL then and it's ILL now love this jam too and the vocals are nuts.. Sick ass off notes and a out of tune guitar.?! Brilliant
u can say all that (EMOTION, EXPRESSION etc) but in the end its just good music, sometimes things are easier than they seem> A friend of hymie is a friend of mine. its nice to know im not alone=)
because the mainstream keeps shoving SHIT down the publics throat and they never develop a proper appreciation for lyrical imagery other than "that girl has a nice ass/ Sex is great, etc etc" You can thank the radio and the big production labels. Or you can hate them, like me :P
@Drzage6 whatever, man. I like music with heart. I just don't hear that in Chris Brown or Jennifer Lopez. RunDMX never had heart, but I loved Eyedea for that reason. Kaskade makes good music, but I don't hear anything from people like Far East Eyes or whoever it was who wrote "like a g6" while Deadmu5s album For Lack of a Better Name has only a few good tracks on it, and he makes his own synth patches. I like creativity, not amalgam to sell to the masses.
@riffraffselbow I enjoy a lot of mainstream music, and actually haven't been listening to much of Yonis work, anticon or otherwise recently. My beef is that the radio plays what they're paid to play, and they base what's good and at the top of the charts off of what gets played the most. This will never reach the airwaves, and neither will any of the sludgemetal Ive been listening to. The closest thing you'll hear to sludge is Alice in Chains, sine their label has the money to make it so.
@riffraffselbow closing thoughts on this subject are; listen to what the radio plays, figure out why they play it, PROFIT. until then, chill the fuck down, man >.>
@invertedteapot or you caN LIKE a selective collection of things on the radio, don't so quick to dismiss a great creation, isn't it something worth changing? Does that not make things more interesting
@thatsMRpotatoe yes and no. I agree, many things can be modified into something better, particularly music. I grew up in Minneapolis with KDWB playing the "TOP 10 HITS" list over and over again. The rating is by which song gets played the most, and which song gets played the most is determined by which record company pays the station to advertise. in effect, the radio stations are being paid to tell people what they should like, and people never hear anything else. isnt that sad?
@thatsMRpotatoe Thus emerges my hesitance and despise for "mainstream" music, simply because it's more a matter of what rich asshole is willing to place the highest bet on which song, and that determines familiarity and popularity amongst the listeners. I like weird music, I like songs that make me want to cry, or see images in my head, or make me relive anothers experiences;, these are what art is supposed to be. Yoni spills his heart out in every track, and many others as well.
@invertedteapot Yes it is very true that the radio for the most part is the same shitty songs that have no value or depth, at the same time the radio supplies a large range of stations, granted it's not souly responsible for the younger audiences with atrocious unloyal tastes dipping there winkies in the new flavor of the month and I being amung these adolensents everyday can tell you their as daft as the songs they listen to.
@invertedteapot But thank god adolesent aren't the entire public, and though they've greatly damaged the media, what with their tastes being most profitable it doesn't mean they've chased all greatness in the dark. I'm fifeteen and I know thats really annoying to say on youtube but I've met so many other people that understand this frustration of musics slow and painful demise, but as far as I'm concerned they just need to be pushed in a right direction, all they do is follow,
@invertedteapot essentially what I'm trying to say is they are impressionable as fuck, and they can't go either way as long as their enviorment does too. So dude, if this is eating you up inside a 'revolution of music' so to speak isn't impossible or improbable. All it takes is effort. And I really enjoyed your level headed response thank you, lovely back and forth right here right now.
