It was an issue of unconstitutional behavior and policies that favored the north (tariffs, etc) which caused the south to break from the union. Most European nations even supported the South's right to do so, as did most of our nation's founders. I'm a northerner, but unfortunately, the north was the aggressor in that war.

You are extremely naive. first of all, the civil war was about fighting industrialization and maintaining power of the individual states. the confederacy didn't like how powerful the central government was getting. Slavery played a very small part in the war. comparing the south to a collection of power hungry sadists who tried to exterminate entire races is just assinine.

secondly, symbols change. the swastika was originally the hindu symbol of peace. i take pride in that.

We have all been condition for so long by the culture we are raised in and different media we are constantly exposed to.
