  • 2:58 I absolutely want her feet! <3

  • Why watch the videos if you gonna make "i hate thinspo" comments ?

  • <33 Im 14.. and i wish i was like that!:/

  • I'm a dancer ... and you have to be thin to be a dancer ... i dont starve but i diet ... you have to be skinny to be good at ballet

  • @ShaylaWuvsYou you are exactlly right. im sick of people thinking that we are anorexic. we have an extremly strict diet because we need to stay in shape. but there are alot of dancers that take it too far

  • @PaytonPapaya i totally agree with you! if you are overweighted it's difficult to dance and it's ugly! i just hate when people call us anorexic! (i'm a ballet dancer by the way)

  • @terranina1 exactly, i have been dancing ballet for 15 years now. and i have struggled with weight issues. i still get told to loose weight for dance, but i have been thru anorexia once before and im never going back

  • If an aspiring ballerina has the right genes she won't need to starve herself to get a proper (not skinny!) body for ballet. Actually dancing is so hard that she'll need to eat super healthy (and most of all, enough!) to be strong and do her best. Also, the exercises will help her gain slender muscles and a good shape.

If she otherwise needs to starve to get in the standards... well, she's not bound to be a good ballerina anyway. It sounds unfair, but we're not all meant to be professionals.

  • At 1:04 you feature a beautifull dancer, but I can assure you that she is over 100 pounds. To be that muscular and powerfull you have to have proper nutrition and a healthy body. Emaciated dancers are breakable porcalein dolls that wont be able to keep up with the exhausting and athletic world of professional dance. Every dancer at one time or another wants to be skinnier for their art, but at some point they will be to fragile to even pursue their passion.

  • Is this a joke?

They don't even let you into prestigious competitions like the Prix de Lausanne if you're that skinny. They expect you to have a record of normal periods and you can't have amenorrhea caused by starvation.

  • I would love to be skinny but not that skinny

  • well im a dancer, not ballet though, contempory and i am 5'5" and 105 lbs. You cant dance to the best of your ability if you starve your self! its just a matter of fact! You need food to give you energy! You burn off fat when you dance anyway! so whats the point? just eat healthy and exercise! thats what I do!

  • I love the song that you put with this! And about the thin stuff: My friend got a full scholarship to the Joffrey Ballet School in NYC and she's Normal weight; But also, many companies won't accept you unless your 110 pounds or under.. The reason being that the men have to lift you, if you were any heavier you could injure the men.

  • we strive for perfection. we may never get there, but at least we have each other. Hold on, girls. Stay strong. You're beautiful.

  • umm ewwwww i thought that to me looked pretty they look to sick !

  • I'm a dancer and I know I need to lose weight. I'm not saying how much I weight but I am overweight. I don't want to look gross though. I want a healthy dancers body. Not anorexic.

  • i m a ballerina nothing anorexia omg you think do this?

  • I'M really thin and I dance...but what people don't understand i the difference of being naturally thin and making yourself thin in an unsafe way. I can't help that I'm thin, I'm 12 years old 5'5" and I way 100 pounds I am not anorexic I was born that way.

  • @FrenchRoseDances

Hey, I'm five one, been a dancer for ten years and 120 lbs, I'm not getting any thinner, I don't care though. Just tell 'em they look alien and ugly, works every time.

  • to all ballerina's including me :

    muscle weighs more than fat

I need to constantly remind my self of this

  • look at Misty Copeland, shes a AMAZING dancer, super strong, professional, and BUSTY!

    shes healthy, not scary thinn.

  • Im a dancer too. I hate thinspiration! Its stupid. people shouldnt have to starve themselves to look pretty because being able to see someones ribs is so disgusting. Im perfect the way i am :)

  • @hannahbanana4041 well in order to be good at ballet you have to be really thin, over weight dancers cant dance on point and with out that you will never go far in dance

if your over weight and you try to dance on point you can damage your feet and the muscles in the feet. any proper ballet instructor wouldn't let an over weight dancer on point. thinspo is a little over board yes.some people who don't have a naturally thin frame its one of the only ways. its not about pretty, its about dance

  • @ShaylaWuvsYou umm okay i'm not overweight, im actually fairly thin and i KNOW you have to be in shape to be a dancer and to dance on pointe. but starving yourself is not okay, You won't even have enough energy if you're that small. You don't have to be super skinny to be a great dancer either. I have tons of friends who aren't this skinny and they are BEAUTIFUL dancers. To be a dancer you have to be healthy. Having an eating disorder ISNT healthy.

  • @hannahbanana4041 did i say " hannahbanana you are fat, you suck as a dancer!" ? No i didn't, i never called you fat and i never said you were a bad dancer. i pointed out facts. and for some people its the only way to reach there dreams. i didn't say any dancer over the weight of the ones in this video are bad dancers and have no future in dance. i said OVERWEIGHT people ... and i didn't call any of you over weight. i never said your friends were ugly. being healthy is a side note to dance.

  • @ShaylaWuvsYou did i say YOU specifically called me fat or a bad dancer? No i didnt ok? to be a good dancer you have to be healthy and in shape. I realize if you are overweight you won't be as good of a dancer as you could be. But if someone is starving their self to the point where their ribs are visible, thats unhealthy. When you're that skinny, you have no energy to dance anyway and i would know. I meant you have to stay in shape and be fairly thin, NOT anorexic.

  • @hannahbanana4041 Why did you click on this video then? And either way.. you don't need to starve to become skinny. You can eat as much as you want/need everyday. It's called a low fat/high carb raw vegan diet. Follow freelea and durianriders on youtube.

  • I'm a dancer myself but I will NEVER starve myself to get "the perfect body" my body is perfect the way it is. I'm not as flat as a wall... but I don't care... I am beautiful the way I am.

  • I want to go in ballet and my moms getting me in it for this september and for the whole year but I'm scared because I'm like a average size I wish I was skinny do I have to be really skinny to do ballet because I'm SO stressing over it right now. i'm starting today im gunna try n lose weight with excersize and better meals less junk food.

  • @MusikkIzMiLiffee

i myself do ballet, and it will keep you just fit and may lose weight if you practice hard, however, you may also gain a little for the muscles :) i'm around 5.2 feet and 88 pounds so just relax :D

  • This pisses me off. Dancers shouldn't be used for thinspiration. It's a stereotype that we all have eating disorders. Most of us are healthy. And we're not thin from starving ourselves, we're thin because exercise so much.

  • @NapalmMuffins I don't think that because I've been in dance myself. There;s even average size people in dance! Dance is for everybody not just for the thin ones..

  • I feel so lucky to have a ballet teacher as great as mine. She cares for us as if we were her children. If someone is looking a little thinner than usual, she will ask them if they have been eating normally.

  • this makes me sad that people assume that these dancers are anorexic. im 5'6" and 91 pounds. i typical dance 6 days a week. it happens when your dancing all the time.

  • i am a ballerina 5'5" & i weigh around 100-105 i am very musculer though haha

  • 1:15 is not thin

  • @xxmusicgurllxx

It IS thin! I promise! this is a child!

  • @kristenellie i meant the photo before that at like 1:13

  • now I saw wrong it is not a child but it is still thin! you dont have to be anorexicly thin to be thin!

  • i have the trouble of when i train and train and train i get really muscley thighs, so they always look fat, its amazing how the profressionals can have such stong legs but look perfect, - and beautiful video

  • people dont understand, we have to be at least somewhat thin to do what we love <3

  • Beautiful is SKINNY. I am a Dancer, I WORK FOR MY BODY. and when i don't sleep because im too busy throwing up, i FEEL BEAUTIFUL. do you want me to feel fat and ugly? HELP. THIS VIDEO MADE ME LOOSE TEN MORE POUNDS THANK YOU.

  • im a dancer and ex rhythmic gymnast form the UK and we don't have ill dancers or gymnast as you need be healthy to dance if you are stick thin your ankles will not support you legs and and being to thin means tha you body loses muscle which you have spent years of dancing to get i say it's a waist of time just be healthy and you will be a beautiful dancer in the end

  • I know their is a weight that dancers have to maintain but 5'5 & 75 lbs. Jesus, I'm surprised she ain't dead yet. That's HORRIBLE.

  • Being that tall and that skinny is not healthy.

  • i'm a bellydancer... we're suppose to have curves...

  • the girl at 1:06 is gorgeous

  • I have never seen a fat ballerina. Any one who takes a class in leo everyday of their lives can not be that big. They would quit if they knew they were big. Its great that people of all sizes can have fun being graceful and getting excercise. Now, I will pointe out that most successful proffesional dancers are all unbeleivably skinny. But, You need nutrition to be healthy. I'm not fat, im muscular, and i'm still one of the smallest girls in my classes. This video is just wrong. BLEHBLEH

  • @XxXxBrainWashedxXxX

I am a dancer as well, and i'm not saying thin people don't eat. I'm just pointing out that using videos like this one to inspire yourself to starve is not a good idea.

  • @XxXxBrainWashedxXxX

  • The dancer at 1:06 isn't skinny she's muscular....the way a dancer should be!

  • Dancers have amazing bodies. <3

If anyone wants an Ana buddy, message me. :) xo

  • I don't think people understand. I am 5 foot 7 and a size large in t-shirts. I am the only one. There is so much pressure on dancers to be skinny, some dance companies even have weight requirements. They don't make dance costumes for fat people. I would know. People don't judge on your skill, they judge on your weight. I love dance, but as I got older, the more I dreaded going to class because I was overweight. It's the definition of peer pressure.

  • @yoitsjade i agree. there was once a time when i was told i had the perfect dancer's body but now that i have gained about 10 lbs i barely get a second glance at auditions. its hard when your short and standing in a room with girls who are 5 foot 9 and are too thin to fit into a double 0.

  • OK I m a dancer to so if u guys r dancers it does help to be skinny but u also u have to have some muscle just keep that in mind

  • @ElementOne3000

Exactly. Over-eating is a problem too. My mom was an over-eater and ended up getting multiple means of help. I was on the other end of the scale: EDNOS with anorexic tendencies. Lots of variations.

  • perhaps everyone should love ballerina's for their art and stop being so uptight about their weight... their skinny, that's how it should be.

  • @maddyegly perhaps you should learn the difference between a possessive and a contraction.

  • 1:28 explains the person that I am

  • @bonnieb118 A pussyfooter?

  • @Babspace whats you're problem? I mean, besides being an asshole? And I won't reply back to you, dumbass.

  • @bonnieb118 And yet, you already did.

    Dumbass.

  • WHOA! Some of that was scary as hell!

  • come on...i saw some girls on the vid that were absolutely fine...i am 1,60 meters and 47 kg and I eat like a pig:P(i am a ballet dancer too)

  • @smaaaaaaaalll Im sorry are you a doctor? You cannot look at someone and say they are fine. It is a pure lie

  • @elibeth121 hey relax;p i just saw some girls that were the same size like me so this is what i consider fine!

  • as ballerina you can't have a ed because, if you don't eat you don't have energie, ballerina's dance the whole day.

  • @SuperMissballet you sure can, and a lot do

  • @SuperMissballet

There are eating disorders where you still eat, you know. Anorexia is only one eating disorder. And if you have bulimia and the purging is through laxatives rather than vomiting, then you've already soaked up the nutrients you need. Plus binging is an eating disorder too.

  • I really like this video ,

and I'm in love with the picture on 22 seconds. But I can't find him.

Where have you find that picture ?

    thanks a lot

  • I once saw a ballerina doing her warmup or something like that, and man did she have some impresive legs! rock hard! she was thin of course but looked very strong. Totally hot.

  • Here is where my confusion lies with thinspiration and your attention... er.. I mean eating disorder. Is the rest of the world meant to feel sorry for your "condition" or is it something you're actually proud of incorporating into your life?

    Could anyone please enlighten me?

  • @DiamondNotch proud of incorporating as well as trying to get followers so they can excuse their disease

  • @elibeth121 It's not really an eating disorder, is it? Perhaps we should make strides to changing the name. A person afflicted with "anorexia nervosa" is actually just a compulsive and vain perfectionist with a love of attention.

  • @DiamondNotch from what I've read the majority of people who "suffer" from the condition of anerexia nervosa are lacking the feeling like they have control of what is going on in there lives and frequently don't feel that they have any self value as a person. I'm not going to say that you're wrong and I'm right, this is just from what I've read in books in the library and from when I myself was on the brink of choosing to or not to allow myself to develop this disorder. It's still very sad

  • @DiamondNotch sigh..people with ED's go to great lenghts and strides to hide their disorders from everyone..so i dont see how this could be viewed as attention seeking.. beauty is defined diffrently by people. Many people with ED's also have underlining disorders like body dysmorphic disorder, OCD, PTSD. In many cases the person underwent to trauma at a younger age like rape, or abuse. Ed comes down to self esteem and self control (or the lack their of) in someones life. However there is always

  • @DiamondNotch exceptions.. some people think that ED is a lifestyle, and get a "we are hear get use to it" attitude, many times these people are called pro ana or pro mia... they dont necessarily walk around proudly announcing their ED, but they do belive in "my body, my rules- fuck you". Most people with ED's are embaressed by it and want very much to be normal... hope that "enlightens" you a bit...

  • its videos like this that make me feel worse about myself. this may work for some, but im not a twig. I am beautiful and healthy

  • not all ballerinas are skinny because we dont eat or have eating disorder infact most arent! the reason we're so skinny is because the main element of technique is to hold inyour lower ab muscles and obliques. we're so skinny because we hold in our stomach muscles all day

  • I just have to say that all this "Dancers have to be thin, especially ballerinas" stuff is horrible. I'm a ballerina. And I'm not 92 lbs. In fact, I'm 5'3 and 170 lbs. And you know what, I don't need to lose forty pounds in order to succeed! If I'm good, then a company will take me. Yes, it will be harder to get jobs and eventually join a company for me then it already is for the 'other' girls. But, I have confidence and talent, and that is what is truly beautiful.

  • @thisnameisborrowed 5'3" and 170 pounds?!?! Sorry, kid, you're Grade 1 obesity, and NO company would ever take you unless they needed comic relief.

    How about 125-135 instead, chubby?

  • @Babspace NO company would ever take me?? I JUST HAD A JOB. In fact, it was last weekend. I had a knee surgery about six months ago, and I couldn't do ANY physical activity for THREE MONTHS. Don't you think I'd gain some weight? And weight is hard to lose ESPECIALLY when genetically, I'm not tiny. If I hadn't had a knee injury, I would be in a PRE-PROFESSIONAL dance division at my studio, which is (literally) the best one in my area.

  • @thisnameisborrowed "Would be"? "In [your] area"? Where's that, the Fat Farm? LOL @ YOU!

  • @Babspace ya know what, i like the way i look. im proud of my body. and i dont care if "NO company will ever take [me]" because that's not gonna stop me from dancing. FYI, i was asked to finish out the year taking classes in my current level AND some pre-pro classes, and next year join pre-pro with the ONLY full scholarship at my studio. if i dont get any farther than this, who cares? i dont need to be so small you can barely see me in order to dance! even if i dont get paid i can still dance!

  • Oh, yes. Stop eating altogether, and pray for waking up every next morning. For the morning will come when you will not wake up.

  • I don't think dancers look very beautiful when they're so thin they look ill.

I think that also goes for any person...

  • I hate thinspiration. 5'5" and 75 lbs is not beautiful, its scary and ugly. Just focus on all the amazing things your body does for you, feed it well, and dance your best. You need energy to dance, and if you starve yourself or become to thin, you cannot perform at your highest level.

  • bones are ugly.

  • bn video bnas imagenes ;P

  • is 15 to old to start ballet? anyone know? :)

  • I just have to point out, that there were some awesome pictures in there xD

  • All you need to do is work on your technique-Even the most overweight dancer can be excellent in Ballet.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!

  • GIRLS- From a fellow dancer! Stop fricking obsessing over how skinny you want/can be! Focus ALL of your attention to your technique, because sadly(and no offence) but you probably dont have a very strong technique, as it should be.

  • That perfect body you spend your time making stupid videos about, will come with time and hard work, just keep working as hard as you can every class and you WILL see a differnce. but you are concentrating on it, so its not gonna happen. just focus on being the best ballerina you can be. Only try to be better than yourself, dont compare yourself to other dancers!

  • GEEZ girls, Just think, this video probably took someone, about 2-4 hours to put together, with finding pics, and music. That energy it took to make it, could have been put to something useful!

  • So you know. I am a pre-professinal ballerina. So I know what you guys are feeling when you look in the mirror at class, and feel totally disgusted with yourself because you don't look like the dancers on this video. trust me I KNOW! I, myself, is battleing anorexia nervosia. And im here to tell you, dont think about the number on the scale or the size of your jeans! focus on your technique! That's all you need to be worried about.

  • So you know. I am a pre-professinal ballerina. • @emo2theheart "a pre-professinal ballerina"

LOL. That's an untalented dancer who needs an excuse to continue her anorexia.

Get a life and get into some therapy.

  • @Babspace Didn't you read my posts? I'm not promoting it!! I'm saying focus on your technique!

I'm NOT continuing my problems, actually quite opposite.

And who are you anyways? A dancer? A nutrisnt? No. You are the smelly, brown ASSHOLE of human kind.....

  • @emo2theheart lol. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is why dancers cannot carry on intelligent, civilized conversation. They're too busy taking laxatives and practicing their ronde de jambes to gain any actual knowledge.

  • @Babspace Cretin.

  • @sophiarocksyourworld Underweight, untalented and irrelevant.

  • @Babspace If your gna call dancers irrelevant who else are you gonna call irrelevant? Other than the people that make food for you to survive and clothes for you to wear no one else is completely necessary so im guessing youre pretty irrelevant to most peoples lives too. You will never be famous or in power so you'll never have any relevance to many peoples lives either. And talent? Doubt you have that either.

  • @sophiarocksyourworld Not all dancers, peabrain, THIS one. You sure talk big for someone with minimal *actual* education and dreams that consist solely of a BMI so low you no longer menstruate.

  • Belive in yourself. You ARE good enough! dont let anybody change your mind!! <3 Please take this as inspiration not as a verbal beatdown, I just hope you understand what Im trying to get across to you.

  • i think dancers are skinny but they have to have a certain strenght to be able to dance and move and therefore they have to eat healthy to be capable. just like other athletes they are aware of what they eat and probably eat a certain way but they have to keep their body healthy.

  • What is the name of this song?

  • What Song Is This?

  • i love this video, is so cool!!!!!

  • Guys-- I have a breakthrough with the whole thinspiration thing-- YOU can look EVEN THINNER THAN THE PICTURES if you go thru WAIST TRAINING/CORSET TRAINING.

    Try it!

    <3 -Ari

  • Really beautiful!

I've been doing ballet for 12 years now, but sad enough I don't look like any of these girls:(

    Stay strong!

  • they are so thin :// yeahh the shapes they make are beautiful but they look like they are going to snap any second!

  • :D this is so beautiful. it made me wanna stretch haha x)

  • Since you're a dancer-- I'm gonna asume you stretch alot.

In your oppinion, do you think stretching helps promote weight loss? Like emotinally and physically? I've been stretching alot more and I feel better, but maybe thats just me./

  • @DarkChild302

hey, im also a dancer (hence watching the vid) i love stretching, whilst i dont think it promotes weight loss (cardio workout is the only way to lose weight) i do think it is important especialy when it comes to achieving those gorgeous long slim limbs.... if you just did cardio and no stretching there is no doubt your muscles would bulk out so yes whilst stretching does not help you lose weight it will help with muscle lengthening and figure :D hope that helps

  • @DarkChild302 im a dancer, mainly ballet. i dance over 15 hours a week so i stretch a lot. since im so used to it it seems to calm me down and makes me feel better all over, emotionally and physically. plus youll get long, leaner legs/body if you stretch ;)

  • i'm a dancer and it makes me feel better when i'm all stretched out, i don't think it promotes wieght loss, but dance is a GREAT workout

  • whats the song?

  • "Hands on Me" by Vanessa Carlton

  • OMG! Her arches at 1:00 They're CRAZY!!!

  • i miss dancing when i was 11 i broke my ankle and now im not aloud to dance anymore.
