  • are hostess products still any good? i haven't had any since sometime in the mid-80s.

  • Lol black kid is always shoved to the side, or the back, even at the very end.

  • is it me? hostess ho ho's and twinkies taste different! Also, as kids, we burned calories all day outside, we were not allowed indoors. We ate breakfast and Mom said "Outside" we couldn't wait to get out! We whined if we had to come in,"five minutes longer?" the streetlights would come on and all the kids piled in their homes and put a ring around the tub we'd be so dirty.

  • Oh the crap we used to eat as a kid. Loved that stuff though!

  • Notice the girl playing the violin at 0:10. I'm not sure I'd want to eat that Twinkie after it came in contact the pine rosin on the bow strings, or the potentially dirty veneer on the wooden part. And what about getting creamed filling all over an expensive musical instrument like a violin?

Gotta like the look on the girl's face in the clip that immediately precedes it, after she is summarily shunned by the boys in the cardboard box, er, "clubhouse".

  • Industries have intentionally been selling poison to us for decades, DISEASE is a HUGE corporate industry, they get kids hooked on this GARBAGE when they are most formative and impressionable. This stuff is NOT good, even in moderation, that is the PR you get from industry, traditional medicine is in the disease business, too, your doctor knows NOTHING about nutrition.....

  • Google "twinkie diet madison park".

You can lose weight AND cut cholesterol by eating twinkies!

  • Did you catch that? WHOLESOME Hostess! LOL!

But anyway, hey, in our area, they are offering Twinkies with Banana cream filling just like they use to have before WW2.

    Anyone tried one of those?

  • Tastykake all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • another example of why youtube is so awesome!!!

  • I had a lot of fun making this commercial. I spat the stuff out when I had enough. I dont know about the rest of the guys but I'm not fat. And yea, no microwave in the house either and we played outside all the time. Those days were great!

  • @wongirl64 Which one is you in the commercial, and did you do any other commercials or acting jobs?

  • You can't blame Hostess and other companies that make junk food for the obesity epidemic. No one is making parents buy the stuff.

  • Favorite reactions ever: :14-15 secs

  • my mom played in that part

  • OK, I was born in 1958...I grew up on Hostess snacks (operative word..SNACK), but back in those day we had one hour recess in school, physical activities were required! Weekends were spent out doors with friends..from sun up to sunset. Meals were very balanced cooked at home, and Micky D's was once in awhile treat...not a meal replacement.

Flash fwd, I'm now a VERY healthy 52, 6'0 183lbs 33" waistline, and still prefer the outdoors. A few bad snacks will not trump good habits.

  • @tonybklyn An HOUR-long recess??? These days we only get about 20 minutes! D: How long did the school day last?

  • @DisneyBlackJet Generally 8am until 3pm.

  • @tonybklyn Aw. I wish I could go back in time so much. Hey, wanna switch birth dates? 1996 was a pretty fun year, I bet. :D

  • @DisneyBlackJet Go back to being 16? No thank you...I had my turn, it's your turn now, so enjoy. :-)

  • @tonybklyn Thank you. You're really nice, I'll add you as a friend! :-)

  • I was two years old in 1976

  • I wonder how many people the Hostess Corporation gave DIABETES too with this garbage. I wonder how many kids also developed obesity because of this poison

Unfortunately while I am not a Marxist I must say that there is no morality or ethics in Capitalism. It is screw or be screwed. Do unto others and post a BIG profit. The Health and Well being of your customers/victims takes 3rd or 4th place.

AND 30 plus years on this crap is STILL being fed to our hapless kids and Hostess is as rich as ever

  • The most pitiful commercial, ever. It makes me sick.

  • ill name the favorite foods of all kids as of today, mcdonalds, hostess products, chips, pizza, hotdogs, what kind of fucked up generation in america is this where all the kids are fat and lazy? god it pisses me off

  • eyeh8cbs: This ad is notable for including kid star Rodney Allen Rippy (with the earphones). There was another Hostess Snacks commercial aired at the same time (75-76) that featured a cute 12-yr-old Kristy McNichol munching on a Twinkie, licking the cream filling off her finger. Any chance you have that one in your extensive collection of vintage ads? Would love to see it again.

  • kitteh

  • Back in those days everybody enjoyed eating this stuff. People were not obsessed about their weight like now.

  • @smokes2468 People back then were also not as fat as people today. Something has changed.

  • hostess are for people with high metabolism like me! no hostess for the slow metabolism peoples! you'll get fat!go eat a salad or something, or put that thing on a stick on a treadmill and try to catch it...

  • Wait a minute. Did he say, "WHOLESOME cupcakes and Twinkies with cream filling"?

  • hostess lemon pies rule.

  • all those kids are fat now.

  • lol @ the girl playing violin. she's like "holy shit!"

  • ew i hate hostess

  • kids do not exercise anymore. They spend all their time play video games or on the computer. When I grew up in 70s and 80s I was outside all the time. The rule was you could only watch 2 hrs of tv and if it was nice then I was to be outside.

  • wish it was like now.

  • Raise your kids to love the outdoors, and steer them away from video games. Growing up in the 90s with video games available to me all my life I still never liked them as much as the outdoors. If you refuse to live within the boundaries of the society, then the boundaries cease to exist!

  • @younger1968 Yup. And we ate dinners together as a family. We didn't have microwaves so food took a little longer to cook but nobody minded cuz it was delicious and homemade. And we played right outside afterwards working off dinner. Good times man.

  • @younger1968 I agree with you there. You don't even see girls outside jumping rope anymore, and that was the norm then.

  • anyone wonder why diabetes is so rampant among the youth today?? look no further than to commercials and ad campaigns such as these...

  • when i have kids i am NOT letting thme eat hostess

  • yeah perfect idea, dont let them eat it deprive them of it

so when there older and discover it they will ONLY eat that. good idea?

    its all about moderation.

  • Funny...the kids in this commercial eat Hostess but are still thin. Maybe its because there weren't home video games back in 1976 and kids did real things...like in this commercial.

  • Yeah...like torture that poor kitteh, lol! :D

  • lmao sorry but your wrong XD earliest arcade was in the 1930's with pin ball machines, students at a university made the 1st coin open videogame in 1971 other games came out threw out the 70's. Learn the facts before you speak please lol. its even in wiki when you look up arcade game

  • For the most part, the average family in the 1976did not have a home video game system in their household. And you can learn how to spell as well. Your comment should be.."...throughout" not "threw out." I give you a D+ on you grammer. Nice job. Learn to spell before you type.

  • Well, no, it isnt THEIR fault your kids are fat now. Ever think of NOT buying them the food? Nobody is pointing a gun at your head forcing you to buy fatening food. You can always make them a salad, sub, or just drink water. Other than that, yeah, your fault.(For person below)

  • at 0:17 THAT KID ATTACKED THE CUP CAKE!!! o_O

  • Thank you Hostess, for making my kids FAT as hell.

  • Honey, your kids are fat because when the man from Hostess held them down and crammed twinkies down their fat gullets you helped them swallow - Bless their little clogged hearts.

  • I'm sorry....wholesome?? .....what? I love Twinkies and all but.....um.....what?

  • POLYSORBATE 80! EAT IT UP KIDS! mmmmm!

  • This was back when it actually was a world for children. Unfortunately, today's world is anything but a "kid's world". Thanks for the memories, eyeh8cbs.

  • Yes, I agree wholeheartedly. Back children were children; I am so happy I was a kid back then.

  • Hey shut up I was born in the 90s and I was a child not like now these days when every freaken kid I know that's my age and younger dress like freaken 16 year olde SEE WHAT MILEY CYRUS HAS DONE WITH KIDS SHE BRAIN WASHES THEM AND MAKES THEM WARE HER CLOTHS. AND STUFF ITS SO ANNOYING

  • your parents must hate you.

i got my first computer when i was like... 9 or 10...

  • no actually they care bout me when i was younger i actually had a life and not staying inside all day on the computer i actually glad i didnt have a computer till now i am glad i had a life when i was younger

  • Bad and sad enough to see such a marketing campaign peddling such toxic treats to kids.

Y'know this whole "diabesity" epidemic now striking down kids at 13 or less? Ever wonder where it began? Try about 50 years ago with campaigns like these. Before the mass marketing of such delectable immune-suppressors, kids actually ate and grew up healthy.

  • I disagree with your comment. If you notice these commercials - almost everyone was filmed outdoors while the kids were involved in recreational activities. Too much T.V and not enough exercise is why kids are obese and lazy.

Snacks, no matter what they are, are fine in moderation...hence the word SNACK! They were not intended to be used as meal replacements. I grew up on them, as did many of my friends.

People need to stop blaming the food industry.

I am going out to by a FRUITPIE now

  • hostess blackberry or peach fruit pies still rock.

  • agree with you 100 percent kklipe67!

  • AMEN!!

  • @kklipe67 I totally meant to THUMBS UP this comment not down. YES! That was the difference...we played outside after homework until dark...hide and seek, climbing in and out of tree houses...roller skates on the street...bike riding all over the neighborhood...TAG! Your IT!...flash light tag at night...kickball with friends...ahh I could go on and on...

  • @tgreer72 to add to your comment, when I was a kid in the 60s I saw tons of kids outside riding bikes and getting dirty...now itslike a ghost town outside.

  • @happymundo Some of that...not all, but some...is fear of friggin child molesters. Hearing one too many kidnapping and child rape/murder stories is enough to send a parent into paranoia.

  • @mjt1517 I guess your are correct...to add, I see very few children on Halloween night then back in the 60/70s when I was a kid....things have changed for the worse.

  • @kklipe67 You are absolutely correct! I am so sick of people blaming treats and snacks for obesity. It's people who don't exercise enough and who are totally ingrorant of nutrition. Snack and treats are fine every once in a while.

  • @kklipe67 Exactly!! Back in 60's and 70's we actually wanted to be outside playing!! Our parents couldn't keep us inside! :)) Thinsg were so different then..kids nowadays have no clue as to what America used to be like!!!

  • @CanyonTide Hah! recently my neighbors 16yo son called me OLD. Now this kid weighs about 230lb and is 5'9. So I told him, "you know what Tubby Tuba, when you get in shape, and maybe get a tit lift on those flabby breast...you can then call me old". Kids are just plain out of shape, overfed and unmotivated nowadays.

  • @tonybklyn Exactly! I blame a lot of it on computers and video games! Heck, when we were kids, we only had 5 Television stations! It's just sad.. things are so different now. You could say all the technology is great, but then if you at the cons of it, is it worth it?? I mean cell phones for example, sure they're great, but before they came along, we just waited till we got home to make the call..on the rotary dial :))

  • Ahh the days when Hostess Fruit Pies were actually filled COMPLETELY with filling and not half the god damn thing filled with AIR!

  • I think I'll go to Sam's Wholesale tonight and buying a case of Cup Cakes...mmmm, dinner...

  • what ever happened to Ding Dongs ?,,well I think I can guess, the commercial would come on at a friends house after school, we would bust out laughing with his mom nearby when they said "DING DONGS!"

  • thats erin blunt in 00:12 what ever happened to him.

  • I kinda miss that old packaging artwork they had used at the time (and still did throughout the 80's). Only recently the Fruit Pies got a facelift, but I want the old packaging back (and those cool comic book ads)! Not to mention noticing some of Dolly Madison's products are getting sold under Hostess too. It's just so terrible now!

  • even the kids looked friendly back then! damn! now days you see kids that age and your scared thinking are they gonna pull out a gun and shoot me? lol mannn why cant things be like the mid - late 70s again...music, tv, food...and just plain old life!

  • True, plus hardly any kid would want to be caught dead eating snacks either!

I kinda missed out for having been born in '77, the 80's were OK still.

  • Comment removed

  • I think since they can get a cell phone or any other electronic gadget, kids have changed!

  • 70s kids were nicer, they were also not politically correct so they could be tough & original, todays kids are considered constant risks, do not look at one, you might go to jail for being a stalker or pervert, todays parents need to be horsewhipped for giving them cell phones with cameras, it's how they meet strangers & take drugs, little girls become whores & become impregnated by negroe boys & men, it's a sick world now but nobody wants to change it, the liberals think it's wonderful.

  • amen my friend! couldn't have said it better myself.

  • I'll second that Amen! CreativeCriticizm, you might be my long lost twin.

  • yeah!

  • Am 13 ok and I never turned out like thank god cause my parents actually like didn't have me dress in all that crap they have now and when I think of it I know alot of little kids these days look up to miley Cyrus and all thoughs other spoild brats and look how they dress and for the electronics like I said am 13 most of the kids I know have cell phones and there younger then me and I still don't have a cell phone and I didn't get my first computer last aug 08 . I agree though it's redicualous

  • ,,sounds like you have good parents that deserve an A+ & you have a good head on your shoulders, stay that way forever, it's the key to a more normal future.

  • @rikulover3222 FUCKING MORON

  • @BartelDoo okkk you are officially the randomness guy ever

  • FUCK-ING MOR-ON

  • ok weirdo
