In the right light and from the right angle as the waves roll and crest it will appear as if it is an object moving very fast acroos the water. It is a phenomenon I have witnessed many, many times. This is a boat wake. The boat passed, leaving a trail of waves, this image shows them as they are cresting and rolling on their way to the shore.

Actually Its not Champ sadly, its the result of two waves each from a different direction on a slant colliding, the wave collides and runs over the water on a slant like this. It happens at the beach all the time.
