  • I really like the pit I just wish I could hear the drumline more.

  • This is awesome, just got our teacher to order it. Can't wait to play it!

  • My school plays a clock like cadence, too. It's called Big Ben, and it sounds more like clock gears working. It's pretty intense, though not as intense as this.

  • OK, so, to everyone who wants to make a criticism to the composition or notation elements of this piece, you really do not have to. Firstly, check out the date of the upload, it's more than 5 years ago, and I've been writing for about 6 years. Obviously I've learned a lot in the past 5 years, and obviously know all about professionally engraving a score that people would actually want to purchase. Secondly, check out my latest material. The endless critiquing over the years is just getting old.

  • @reeldeelpeel Dude everyone can suck a dick. Ive been listening to this composition for 5 years now and it is awesome I can never get over it. It is awesome and no one deserves to critique it on youtube because they cant come up with half of the stuff you do. Youre a awesome composer and I bet I will be listening to this composition in another 5 years to guaranteed. and this is straight orgasm beginning to end

  • @reeldeelpeel

    I don't think i could insult this.

    it's too good. :D

  • While most of this show seems like it would be A to low A class, some of the bass stuff is mid to high A almost open class in some parts and then easy again. It has a tendency to not be unified in difficulty. IT's also far to short as an A class piece has to be between 4 and 6 minutes long. open and world can go longer. So you need to add another movement to it. But it sounds really good, if you were to fix my minor grievances I bet this could be a killer show for someone.

  • @drumr1214 I wrote it mostly when I was 16 and didn't have much battery experience then, didn't even intend it to be an indoor show, so yeah I realize the title is a little misleading.

  • @reeldeelpeel Ok then. It's really good for a show being written at 16. Sorry for all the criticism.

  • Pretty impressive. Just avoid beaming over beats (i.e. grouping two dotted eighth notes together in measures where quarter notes are the beat). This of course skews the pulse and makes reading the work more complicated. In the first beat, use dotted eighth with a Sixteenth note tied to the next beat, then two eighths in the next beat - this accomplishes the same thing, but it keeps the beat clear. Little things like this improve the overall quality and professionalism of the work.

  • @shaunsalem

I did not design it to be notionally correct much at all, just got the sound out there. All the notational errors have been fixed.

  • i hear a harry potter theme at like 2:40

  • @UnluckyCharms111, Stole it subconsciously when I was 17. It's since been changed. Listen to the mp3 download found in the description.

  • @reeldeelpeel, Actually, stole it when I was 15.

  • @reeldeelpeel Actually, i think you should keep it. You couldn't have done that subconciously back then, seeing as the movie with this theme had not even been thought of back then. I really say it's needs to be in the piece. just my opinion tho. =]

  • @MarimbaMan13 The theme is from Prisoner of Askaban, which came out in 2004. But, the melody is originally from some other piece, I forget what. I stole it subconsciously whether from the movie or not, and I changed it to avoid potential infringement issues.

  • I'm in love with this.

  • Awesome :D

I made a piano piece called clockwork, had no idea you already had one with the same name xD

  • This is really excellent work! I'm glad I found you on YT, I'm very impressed with this percussion-driven piece ^_^

    Thanks for sharing! :D

  • This is a great drumline piece but you can tell by the way you put the notes in, you have a very concert approach to marching percussion. I love that, I'm so tired of seeing "drummers" I'm glad to hear from a marching PERCUSSIONist again.

  • My drumline played this at our concert last year. It was a beautiful piece. I played snare :)

  • very beautiful. Is it possible to get the notes or we need to order it?Thanks

  • @emesehollandi You'll need to order it from me. Send me a message with your email address and your request and I'll email you info on purchasing. Thanks.

  • I'd hate to be a bass drummer at about 2:20. Haha. This is an intense piece. Seriously. I love it. :)

  • I think I heard a Colorado WPE ensemble play this last year. is that possible?

  • @PunkRockDrummer44,

It's possible. I sold nearly a dozen copies of the latest version of this piece. I don't really keep track of who anymore. It could also have just been a similar piece.

  • @reeldeelpeel

Percussion Instructor: where can I purchase this?

  • @PunkRockDrummer44 Who did you think played it? I don't think i picked up on anyone playing it I guess.

  • Fucking awesome!!!! I need sheet music!!!! :D

  • just imagine this composition in an actual marching arrangement with all the movement and breath taking music....this would be awesome on the marching field

  • just imagine this composition in an actual marching arrangement with all the movement and breath taking music....this would be awesome on the marching field

  • 10 / 10. This whole thing is stunning!!

  • @7222Brit sure you do! Maybe not concert timp, but diddles on a timp for a winterline, or corps show, is quite common. And if the need to be more defined then it's just single stroked.

  • Just like you to know that this was the piece that inspired me to get Sibelius. Greatest. Buy. Ever.

  • nvm couldnt read it, heard wrong. Sounds beast man

  • you dont diddle on a timp!?

  • Awesome! around 2:55 I hear the same descending chordial figure that is used in "Buckbeak's Flight" by John Williams from Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.

  • @nextJW

    Thanks.

And yeah, I know, I subconsciously stole it when writing. I get this same comment like every 3-4 comments and delete most of them. So trust me, I know!!

  • @reeldeelpeel It's cool, I subconciously steal stuff all the time when writing. No harm in that (unless like...you just blatantly plagiarise). This was a very awesome composition though anyway. I take it you're a big Danny Elfman fan even in your originals, I hear very similar ideas.

  • @nextJW,

I've changed the melody slightly to make it more original just so you know. Download the mp3 from the description if you'd like to hear all the changes since this upload.

And yeah, Danny Elfman is one of my favorite composers, I'm inspired by his music with almost all my pieces.

  • Gonna need a damn good timpanist for this! lol

  • This piece is absolutely amazing. I was showed this piece by one of my friends and we're deciding to play this for our percussion concert in May for our school. How would we go about getting the music?

  • @kazoodootoo

Thanks for your compliments! You can purchase a copy directly from me for $20. I'll send you a message with information.

  • I would really love to play this for my schools S&E. This is incredible.

  • @sokatiesaid

Let me know if you're interested in purchasing a copy of the latest version from me! Download the latest version with the link in the description

  • @reeldeelpeel Some of us are very interested actually. A friend of mine, Ryan, says he's actually spoken to you about this. We're all still debating which piece we'll be doing at the end of the school year but one of us will be sure to let you know :-)

  • @sokatiesaid

Yes, I believe he has contacted me on my facebook fan page. I gave him some info, so hopefully he's read it. Tell him to go read the discussion on my page is he hasn't yet! And info on my other pieces is there too in case another piece would be better.

  • Wow! I love the tenor part at the ending.

  • Just curious, but do you know your vibe melody starting at 2:35 is from Buckbeat's Flight from John Williams' film score to the third Harry Potter Film? Good work though, very cool.

  • @epet13

Yes, I do know, thanks. I subconsciously stole it when I wrote it, and I honestly have no idea why. I changed that part almost 3 years ago, very shortly after uploading this, thanks again. And the funny thing is that most of John Williams melodies are taken from other sources, a lot of the times subconsciously as well. It's what musicians do sometimes. In my case, I did it pretty badly, and pretty obviously.

  • Awesome :D

  • I love this piece. My favorite part is 0:14 - 0:21

  • Hey man, I've been writing for percussion for a short time, and played in some amatuer drumlines for two years, aswell as been studying and playing percussion for over 10 years, and this piece is simply amazing!

Really good use of the percussion timbre and brilliantly structured!!

  • JIZZ...

  • @drumsforever101

Thanks. But to be honest, I really get annoyed when people use sexual or pornographic terms to express how they feel about something totally unrelated to sex.

  • @reeldeelpeel my bad

  • Would you be so nice as to give me the score to this? I really want to play this for our Winter Drumline, with all credit to you of course! It's okay if you don't. I'm just asking.

  • @sbsproxmysox,

I won't give it to you for free, sorry. However, you can purchase the most current score and parts from me for $20. Send me a message if you this interests you.

  • @reeldeelpeel Okay, I'll talk to my drumline coach about buying this. because this is a really cool piece! I'm starting to compose myself, you know, and your an inspiration to me!

  • that was amazing!! on the field or anywhere,...dude i would pay to see that play out on the field...maybe put in some people to march :D

  • Another great morsel for my ears. I have a question: What is the typical time range for percussion pieces/shows at this level?

  • @Snare0drummer0James,

We didn't march at the same time. Clark was the inside quad for Cascades 2009, and I was the inside for 2010.

  • @reeldeelpeel,

Oh, and I played in the pit for 2009, so yes and no to marching together.

  • Wow this was a really awesome piece. But the ending was kind of iffy. I think it would've better to bring back the theme introduced in the beginning after the rit. and then end in a chord.

  • @kimisizer,

Maybe you don't understand why the ending is the way it is. It's supposed to emulate a clock's battery dieing.

  • hey if i give you my email could you send me an mp3 of this piece?

  • @guitarhero7946,

Yes, if you message me your email.

  • AMAZING TIMPANI SOLO!!

  • My cousin, an aspiring drummer, has apparently been very influenced by your work and was kind enough to find this song on Youtube to show me why. I was blown away. You do a great job.

  • this sounds amazing. i think the video was behind the music, but it was really good

  • WOW!!! Another great job. Great intensity with a great balance of pp.

  • @Liquidspaceman,

Thanks a lot! Dynamics are important ;-)

  • amazing work, well done

  • @bobthetomatoe1,

    Thank you!

  • It was awsome. I would like an mp3 plz. My email is arbykass@yahoo.com

  • cool

  • amazing!

  • Where Do u find inspiration to compose something like that...its like idk where to begin u kno? help? thanks btw AMAZING :)

  • <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 i love all your work and now im addicted to listening to it. which is good but bad

good- its pretty and i love listening to it

bad- i wanna go to bed xD

  • can i please just have the first 47 seconds? i need something for my senior project. i will give you credit for the composition. please.

  • @bradw204,

If you mean an audio like an mp3, just give me your email and I'll send you the piece. but if you mean a Sibelius or pdf score, I must have money for my work, sorry.

  • Amazing! id really like a copy if you can send me one!

  • @Alevi1994,

I'm charging $20 for copies, let me know if you're interested in helping me out and making a purchase.

  • 0:09-0:21. SICK. That part is inspiring. I would love to hear you take that theme and expand it.

  • @musicalsatori,

I might take time and go back and change things in this piece like that, thanks for noticing.

  • omg i love this..this well be such a legit song to play during our halftime next year.

  • @kenkokat,

Oh, so you go to a school that I sold a copy to?

  • i really like the snare groove at 2:04.

  • My friend and I love your work! We showed it to our percussion teacher and he was amazed by it!

  • @1996ryanalex,

Thanks so much! Awesome! Let me know if you guys are interested in using it.

  • omg this is amazingg. could i get the music?? i really want to try to learn the snare part,

  • @jtrevor93,

I'm selling the score and parts together for $25 over Paypal. I could sell you the snare part only for $5, if you wanted to make that purchase.

  • HOW DO I GET THIS MUSIC!?

    It's amazing!

  • @jedica1,

Did you want an mp3 or a copy of the score/parts?

  • Copy Of The Score :)

  • @jedica1,

I'm selling copies of the score/parts/and mp3 bundle-type-deal for $20. Send me an email if you're interested in purchasing, and I can send you a payment request from PayPal. Thanks!

  • @reeldeelpeel,

And my email is in my channel profile description.

  • This is just a great piece of work!

  • @1996ryanalex,

    Thanks a ton!

  • is that smart music

  • @mesteryman11,

Is that a question or an answer? lol

  • sucks that we're not gunna play this or altitude

  • @TruthDrummer65,

I would have been willing to help out as much as possible to get it all to work, but oh well.

So you must be the one snare guy 2nd to the left I met the other week?

  • haha yeah

  • @TruthDrummer65,

You should add me on facebook, there is a link on my youtube profile.

  • @reeldeelpeel ,

One problem i dont have facebook I have a myspace though haha

  • @TruthDrummer65,

Solution: Delete your myspace, and make a facebook, and you can join the NK percussion group I made.

I deleted my myspace recently actually. You may or may not already know that, depending on how stalker-ish you are, lol.

  • @IcyFrostbite,

Thanks, I'm glad you like it.

  • Just an all around great idea from start to finish, it's great! The ticking sounds by the battery was very clever and really helped start and end the song well.

  • @DemonDrummerZukaZ,

Thanks for your compliments, and for noticing the ticking sounds. It would be even more awesome to see everything put to some kind of drill with clock and time concepts.

  • what software is this? ive been trying to find something to write and listen to music but i dont know which is a good one, but this one seems great!

  • @soccerandfries,

Have you tried reading the description?

  • It's REALLY weird that i found this, cuz i was just thinking of a drill for a show based around clockwork...

  • @MrZepher67,

    Cool!

  • WOW! That was awsome man! How can I get a copy of this? I really would like to see my corp playing this!

  • Hopefully you mean percussion ensemble, not 'corp'.

Email me if you would like to purchase it. My email is on my channel profile.

  • This is a great composition. What a great winter percussion piece. Keep up the great work. You have some great compositions up here. Good job brother.

  • Thanks!

  • do you write marching drill to go along with the show? i could see a corps performing this as an ensemble

  • No, I've never written marching drill.

  • I love this. The battery part is funnnkkyyy. :]

  • Thanks! I'm happy you love it.

  • You only write stuff for a percussion ensemble?

  • Basically, that and battery cadences. But if you dig deep into my playlist, there is one attempt at a brass ensemble. :)

  • dude that was awsome

  • Thank you!

  • Excellent work! I just got Sibelius, so I'm starting to write some stuff of my own! Pretty inspiring, man. :) Dunno how that timp. solo would cut in a real performance, but overall, an amazing work of art.

  • After listening to this, my skill level has increased 35% from pure diffusion of sound. thats how good this is.

  • lol, "diffusion of sound" Thanks :) I appreciate the encouragement.

  • I stinking love your compositions. ALL of them. I play percussion for my school. Mainly timpani, but any other instrument.

  • Hey Tony. lol.

  • Hello Matthew. Fancy seeing you on here, lol

  • This is awesome. 2:07 is especially awesome.

  • You amaze me. I really hope I can be this good someday.

  • Sweet, only suggestion is do the marimba on a grand staff. This would cut down on the billion ledger lines. I could totally hear a scholastic line do this at WGI... I would ask about it but don't think my kids could do it...

  • I love all of your work so far...

  • awesome man truly amazing that you wrote this peace, i actually see it being more like a dream music or an Olympics commercial peace

  • Thanks so much! Yeah, I'm not too sure what it was meant to be used for. I would be so honored if any of my music was used in an Olympics commercial :)

  • It sounds great, but in the parts I would change some clef signs in the mallet parts because of the amount of ledger lines used.

  • This one was uploaded almost 2 years ago. It's clean now, lol.

  • Bravo! Very well done!

  • haha, Thank you so much :)

  • Does anyone else hear a Winter drumline show? I think so!

  • I wish my school had cool front ensemble parts like that T^T

    Amazing job ;)

  • I love this.

  • Awesome Truly amazing it parts sounded like the soundtrack the cartoon avatar: the last airbender it has truly beautiful music as do you well done

  • ooo realy realy god =O muy bueno el video woow me sorprende

  • sick melodies. timpani solo killed it.lol

  • is "killed it" a good thing or bad thing?

  • it can be a good thing or a bad thing...but in this case it's a good thing

  • i really enjoyed this. it's very hard to use all the instruments you did and make it sound as good as you did :P.. it's a nice blend of corp and classical. i shall call it corpsical. haha no but seriously very hip piece

  • i love hearing this piece everynow and again. this is one of those pieces that if your not one of those people who cant appreciate all the instuments in the piece, you won´t like it. . . .luckly i am one of those people.B-)

  • and this is owsome gratz

  • thanks.

  • man can you help me i need to know how to make a rimshot whit a snare or snare drum in sibelius( i have sibelius 5)

  • You change the notehead, with the properties window. Change it to number 51 for a right shot, and 29 for a left.

Why don;t you just go to the website for help? You'll need to learn how to do that anyway if you plan on doing anything serious with the program.

  • Beautiful

  • thanks very much, it's always appreciated :)

  • This song sounds a bit scary, but I like the concept of it, because it has lots of rhythm, and dynamics that sound good enough to be in a movie.

  • Thanks, but what do you mean by scary?

  • Oh just like everything, it's sounds bone chilling.

  • Oh ok, haha, thanks :)

  • Can you send me this in an email?!

  • Yes, but I'm selling it for $15. I will never give my music away for free ever again. That "luxury" was already abused.

  • how do u put in rim clicks and shots????

  • You change the notehead with properties. VDL comes with a manual on which notheads playback which sounds.

  • Oh wow, this is amazing. I'm a mallet player and this would be so much fun to play

  • Let me know if you have a group that would be willing to play it!

  • dude. i woulde totally love this music to paly in my drumline!!!

  • Idk if you noticed or not, but there's some beefy mallet parts there too, so hopefully your "drumline" has decent mallet percussionists.

  • yeah we all have to learn how to play mallets lol. so yeah we're a pretty decent "drumline".lol.

  • this is absolutely stunning. i am a percussionist who would play this. fantastic
