I agree with you that children deserve the best parenting they can get. Also, every child is different, some forms of discipline work well for kids and some don't. Some children you can explain to them why they shouldn't do certain things, some children only get the message when they can feel it.

I was physically disciplined when I did very bad things that I was told not to growing up, and I detest when people say that all smacking is violence, and that it is done in anger and is un-loving. I believe that the many forms of discipline (which didn't include time out) my parents used helped me to see right from wrong.
The way a child grows up is about 50% genetic and 50% environment I think.
