charles barkley is the best pf ever. i never seen no one dominate like him. he was shorter than mj but dominated people like malone all the time. malone played longer but not better. anybody who watch ball in the 90s knew barkley is the best pf ever.
hands down the best PF to ever play because he dominated bigger players every night, he's only6'5"-6' 6"! in his prime he was a better scorer, rebounder and passer than duncan! malone was a better scorer but thats it!
@disgustipated0091 Nope. Barkley called Tim the best PF but in a 1 on 1 situation Barkley would freaking destroy Duncan. At ages 34-36 while 28 kg overweight, no knees and the same back problems as Bird he owned him. Scoring wise, rebounding wise in less minutes. Duncan has no chance on a young healthy Barkley. Malone would also give him fits. Kiddos get all happy when they see Duncna dominated Malone, while it was an aging Malone 35-40. Barkley also destroyed Malone before his injuries. Next
it's just too weird to look at him now and say "that's one of the best player ever to play the game" but he was fucking vicious! wish someone could make a really good mix of him though
Dennis Rodman 6'8" 215 lb, is not really a power forward type. He is a monster on defense and rebound, but he is not your proto-typical power foward type.
@maxntm92 yeah there was nobody comin close to dennis on rebounds! dennis is one of the greatest players of all time and the greatest defensive and rebounder of all time!
Man, after watching a video like this, it just makes me realize how much the NBA has changed. I liked the league a lot better back in the late 80's and early 90's. Ahhh...those were the days.
They changed the rules becuase of this guy, anyone who makes the nba change the rules has to be fcking amazing...he made them create the 3 seconds bullshit rule that gets me and my mates all the time in basketball hahaha.. some refs count 3 seconds in 2 seconds..
Barkley gives hope to pudgy undersized bigmen everywhere... since i was little my basketball coach always called me the round mound of rebound... after i found out he was refering to sir charles i modeled my game after him... at 6' 220lbs i was able to play varsity basketball as a sf/pf because of my rebounding and scoring ability.. basketball is a skills game and charles is living proof...
Barkley out rebounded Duncan at ages 34 to 36 while 28 lbs overweight with the Rockets, back dead since 1995 and suffering 2 major knee injuries one in 1997 and the other in 1998. Barkley is 2nd to only Wilt Chamberlain in 40 pt and 20 rbd games in play-off games per game. Him, Wilt and Shaq have the most 40 pt and 20 rbd games in Play-Off History. Barkley was a Better Rebounder aswell.
1993-94 was his back injury season, the season that evidenced his back problems. He didnt play well that season do this injury but he did play well in the play-offs rested and the next seaon, eventhough he was in back pain. Ainge convinced him to keep playing the 95-96 season, which was the season of his downfall game wise in terms of efficiency. Then in Houston he suffered 2 back to back knee injuries and no longer did he have the leap, quickness, agility and potence as before .
Ok agree. Also, Duncan was never the Game Creator, FT Shooter, Mid Range Shooter, Post Shooter, Passer, Game Creator, Ball Handler, Scorer, Offensive Total Player, Rebounder, Intimidator, Clutch Shooter, Versatile Player, Skilled Player etc than Barkley too
Actually, Duncan is one of the all time clutch playoff performers of this era, so I don't agree with that. Also, his postup/faceup games are better. I will agree though that Barkley was more intimidating, a better passer, a ball handler and finisher around the rim.
Rebounds are a wash to me since the majority of Duncans career has been with defensive 3 in the key rule, whereas barkleys was not.
No his post game is not better. He is just taller and shoots at Way Lower 2-Point FG% (Barkley`s is 58-55% 2nd only to Shaq and Gilmore for the Season, Duncan`s 50-51%) than Barkley. Barkley`s footwork was almost McHale like and he had THEE GREATEST SPIN MOVES EVER while being Doubled and Sometimes Tripled with Help of Perimeter Players. Most Doubled Player Ever 12-15 FT away from the Rim, 2nd Most Efficient Offensive Leading to a Basket Player Per Usage and Possesion after Magic with Less Help
Barkley ranks 7th In Offensive Rating while bein the Most Doubled and Tripled Playe since Shaq! Most of the players in the Top in Offensive Rating are PGs, SGs and SFs. Created Most Ilegal Defenses in his Era and only Shaq can be comparable in Defensive Rotations Per Player do to Fouling Out Fear. The 5 Second Back to the Basket Rules where Designed to go Against Barkley`s Game. He is also the 2nd Most Efficient Player Per Point Created for Every Possesion after Magic Johnson
I ALREADY AGREED BARKLEY WAS BETTER THAN MALONE and an extremely talented offensive player, but there is NO way you a can argue Barkley is better Defensively than Duncan either. Better team defender? NO. Floor Defender? Definitely not. His help defense was avg and his interior D very below avg. Part of this probably has to do with the fact that he was very undersized at PF.
There's a reason why Duncan is put on the all defensive team EVERY year while Barkley hasn't even scratched it once.
He wasn`t a better Interior Defender or Shot Blocker than Tim, anyone would agree with that Tim is a Center shilded at PF but you must agree Barkley was a Better Floor Defender, Team Defender (All Around D) and Stealer than Tim. If Tim Duncan was in the All Defensive Team then Barkley should have been in the All Offensive Team 10-11 years in a Row. Anyhow, Barkley was Great Defender when he wanted too and when he had a Center he was Top 7 in DRT. Barley was a Better Rebounder and Passer Too.
Barkley sometimes had trouble in one-on-one defense--the qualities that made him so lethal offensively worked against him in half-court offense. But he was an underrated help defender & an EXCELLENT defender on the break. I'm not really debating here. Duncan is a superb defender. I'm just saying that Sir Charles was a little underrated on defense.
Why are you calling me an idiot? YOU're just putting words in my mouth. At no point did I take credit away from Barkley, aside from the fact he was NOT a great defender.
Longevity is an important facet of the game. How a person conditions themselves, trains mentally and physically shows a lot. Barkley was often over weight in the later stages of his career and had tons of nagging injuries. It does not take away from skill I agree, but be so easy to discredit someones hard work.
I agree Barkley > Malone. I never said Barkley was better. All I said was they were a much better comparison than to Duncan.
And the comparison is not as one sided as you make it seem. Their career points, rebounds, spg, bpg, fg %, ft %, mpg are ALL very close.
The thing Malone has on Barkley though is his longevity. he was one of the healthiest players of his time and barely missed any games whereas Barkley struggled with a lot of injuries. And that DOES factor into ones greatness.
Longevity is Longevity has nothing to do to How Good You Where or How You Could Impact the Game. Chuck was Superior: Superior Scorer (Higher FG%, Taken Less FGAs PG)...Barkley also has one of the Highest Season 2-Point FG% of All Time right up there with Gilmore and Shaq), Barkley was the Better: Rebounder, Passer, Game Creator, Floor Defender, Stealer, Shot Blocker, Clutch Player, Skilled Player, Ball Handler, Post Game Player, Mid Range or Far Range SHooter, They Changed the Rules Cause of Him
longevity does have a lot to do with your legacy as a basketball player. ex. grant hill or penny: 2 guys who could have made the hall of fame, but probably wont because their careers were plagued by injuries.
i don't really know why you're trying to argue with me when i already said i agreed barkley was the better player. i am just saying it's not as one sided as you're making it seem. he was better in a lot of those categories, although i wouldn't agree with a few things you mentioned
Longevity is applaudable but it does`nt make you a better player, only an idiot that repeats what the media says will argue that. It just makes you a "More Professional Athleate", "Superior Off Court Discipline", "Superior Trainer" what "Level of Skill does that Involve"? What Level of Impact does that Involve"? Absolutley NONE!. Barkley was better than Malone at every aspect of the game but FT Shooting and Off Court Activities. When ha had an above averageCenter to Back Him...even more.
he was not a better defender... and thats a big knock on sir charles because he was not really a great defender which is why i will always put Duncan ahead of him on these lists. i'd also argue he was not a better passer either or have a better mid/long range game.
Barkley was a Better Team Defender, Floor Defender + Versatile Defender than Tim who was a Better Interior Defender + Shot Blocker. Offensively its NOT EVEN CLOSE! are you an idiot? Barkley shot 58.13% Season 2-Point FG (2nd to Shaq as a Focal Scorer of All TIme) +55.13% Play-Offs 2-Point FG while being the player that was most Doubled+Tripled after Shaq in the last 20 year. Created Most Ilegal Defenses and Defensive Rotations than any before Shaq. They changed the rules cause of Charles!
duncan is the greatest power forward of ALL time. 4 rings duncan, 0 rings barkley. barkley was a great rebounder, but by no means a good defender, whereas duncan came into the league a defensive beast and has remained that way his entire career. offensively they are close, maybe a slight edge to barkley. but there are 2 sides to the game, and duncans defense is miles ahead of barkleys and there really is no comparison
Can Duncan Pass and Create Game like Barkley? Can Duncan Rebound like Barkley? Can Duncan Score at High % Like Barkley? Barkley Shot 58.13% 2-Point FG Season and 55.13% 2-Point FG (Play-Offs) thats Shaq-like! Can Duncan Steal and Play Floor Defense like Barkley? Can Duncan Design His Shot like Barkley at the Last Seconds? Barkley was doubled 12-15 FT away from the rim many times, while Duncan just waits in their like a Center. Duncan has 1 skill over Barkley tha"Shot Blocking" Thats IT!
Barkley dominated basketball games at both small forward and power forward, compensating for his lack of height with the thrust of a 37-inch vertical leap. He weighed nearly 300 pounds in his formative years before sculpting his body into a 250-pound bowling ball. His strength and competitiveness are legendary. He once dunked so violently that the 2,200-pound basket support moved six inches. Early in his career... fastbreaks, drives, and putbacks. Later...a long jump shot to his arsenal.
no... thats like saying Shaq is a better C than Ewing which he is. I'm a chuck fan but he had lousy one-on-one defense. you can give that whole "BUT HE ONLY 6'6" bullshit all u want but maybe he should of been a SF
Charles Barkley was great but the man had no defense. I'm a Rockets fan so u know i'm a Sir Charles fan but the fact is that Tim Duncan is the greatest PF ever
all PFs block shots... Tim Duncan averaged nearly 3 BPG before. and these are his highlights so of course u are gonna see some good stuff. Tim Duncan plays much better defense and win titles...
very true, bit Td is slowing down now a days...no disrespect u cant keep young 4ever. he's good, a really simple effective player. great fundamentals.
Tim still had his Spurs team winning 54 games at age 33. You know how hard it is to get a team to win that many games without their star player Manu? Barkley at 33 was 41-41.
because he had a superior team. I don't think anybody would argue the fact Charles was the superior player, unless they were sitting at home in front of somebody's computer in a house they'd broken into, having just escaped their mental hospital by chewing through a straitjacket. Nah, nobody would argue that.
Basketball to me isn't the same anymore, we need players like charles barkely, Michael Jordan and Isaiah Thomas. All of them are legends. This mix is awesome!!!
Charles Barkley was beasty! and his midranges were deadly too..no one could stop his post zone positions..

hahahahahaha.
right. that's like saying Billups is a better pg than Stockton
Hagarheadou812 2 years ago
no... thats like saying Shaq is a better C than Ewing which he is. I'm a chuck fan but he had lousy one-on-one defense. you can give that whole "BUT HE ONLY 6'6" bullshit all u want but maybe he should of been a SF
NasNY 2 years ago
hell no mother fucker,by any means sir charles is ten times better

4 rings > 0 rings
Charles Barkley was great but the man had no defense. I'm a Rockets fan so u know i'm a Sir Charles fan but the fact is that Tim Duncan is the greatest PF ever
NasNY 2 years ago
so what?do you really belive duncan could win 4 rings in jordan era?
SunMan6A6 2 years ago
with Kevin Johnson, Dan Majerle, Cedric Ceballos, and Richard Dumas on his team? why not?
Tim Duncan = Olajuwon > David Robinson > Barkley

all PFs block shots... Tim Duncan averaged nearly 3 BPG before. and these are his highlights so of course u are gonna see some good stuff. Tim Duncan plays much better defense and win titles...
NasNY 2 years ago
very true, bit Td is slowing down now a days...no disrespect u cant keep young 4ever. he's good, a really simple effective player. great fundamentals.
8MRD8 2 years ago
Tim still had his Spurs team winning 54 games at age 33. You know how hard it is to get a team to win that many games without their star player Manu? Barkley at 33 was 41-41.
NasNY 2 years ago
yeah true but they were in two different era's. but both are amazing :)
8MRD8 2 years ago
because he had a superior team.

20musicfreak20 2 years ago
These are just highlights - he wasn't known for his blocks (they're damn nasty, though).
Best shot blocker of the 80s-90s prob Olajuwon.
