I have built about 6 leadfeather yaks out of EPP sheet foam and I just bought a DW Juka. It will be interesting to see the difference between the planes. I got to the point where I wanted to try some different 3D foam planes with a bit more power.
Hi, Richard Here. I am on the team with some other "adults." I was just the one adult who was flying Demos at this show. I don't design, or make the kicks. I'm just a hired gun to fly at shows. LOL. Pretty much most of these kids couldn't afford this sport without someone else's pocket book being close by. Lowest prices for any of these planes, plus all the batteries, radio gear, batteries, and chargers is around $350.
i dont think we are going to do that anytime soon. dw stands for depron west. we have a lot more planes that will blow you away after we are finished!!
Cool... now... if only they'd design some planes for me in EPP. Would love to see some mono wing planes... this big... in epp. Come on guys... you can do it! :-) Please!?! :-)
just buy a kit from them and get some epp. and trace it cut it build it. and leave the kit as a template so u can keep making the same plane. with that... u can make as much as u want of it with EPP foam
Yes - I do this sort of thing all the time - as there aren't many people designing in epp. Which... is why I wrote what I did! :-) I'm trying to encourage as many designers as possible to consider designing in epp. Its a great medium for indoor 3D - and outdoor like this one! I've done it - and I'm just a part time guy. Get some real designers playing withe epp - and I think it'd change rc! So far - the only guy I know designing in epp is Jimmie Wade at alphafoamiesDOTcom.
Awesome clip!

Some of the designs have those holes...to create extra drag...to keep the plane slowed down. :-)
