That is a really nice cover, Bonnie Raitt is an excellent slide guitar player... this song makes me cry because in the film the character played by Mary Louise Parker sings "you got it" before dying of AIDS, one of the best scenes ever!
Roy obviously the best...this one not bad tho. Part of what make's Roy's special is because his music style was aged in the best time for Rock and Roll, the 50's-80's.
Yea, this is actually pretty decent. Nothing will beat Roy's version, granted, but it's hard to copy a legend...even if you are Bonnie Raitt. Nicely done
@redoctober90 she"s a legend in her right! rember the 80"s video with bruce and roy, she was a backup singer. she should have been playing along with bruce and roy!
Boys on the Side is an excellent movie and great cast, I can watch it over and over again. This is one of my favourite songs from the CD "Boys on the Side soundtrack.
I agree 100% Mike!!! "Boys on the Side" is one of the most UNDER-rated movies I've ever seen... The entire Cast was totally awesome: Drew, Whoopi, and especially Mary-Louise Parker, Who I think should have received an OSCAR nod for Her portrayal of Robin in this movie...
It sounds a lot like it would have if Petty had sung it instead.

She really rocks in this song. Not easy. And for sure, Bonnie send her hommage to her good friend Roy. A Lady.

I feel like the only one who saw this really great movie.
Whoopi and the cast were great the movie was heartwrenching yet warm and loving at the same time.
People go out and find a copy and watch it.
Then you will understand this song and it's message.
