  • I luv her... so strenght in so much grace... Grace!!!

  • Brings back memories of my teen years in the 80's! Thanks for posting this visually stunning video!

  • One of the most visually creative videos of the 1980's. Grace set the standard.

  • envoi axw@ dbc@ nt@ mt@ 18:18.

    axelle

  • comme en vrai!

  • Lady GaGa counts Grace as her one of her idols, okay fine, but she will never be as mesmerising as Grace..Grace was weird, in a good way but that woman had something GaGa will never have..Class.....

  • Damn right!

  • I want my garage to be the head of Grace Jones

  • Incredible video for a one-of-a-kind artist.

  • Reminds me of the theme to a James Bond 007 movie.

  • can anyone tell me the meaning of this song? its pretty catchy as well as the video but the lyrics confuse me

  • is this the official vid??

    COOL!!

  • Grace breaks the box.

  • What year?

  • 84-ish 85-ish not sure...ive got alot of her stuff though...pull up to the bumper is awesome to play on bass

  • very striking woman actually (With Russell Harty, literally!!!!), imaginative, unique, cannot believe she is now 61, I bet she looks no different

  • GRANDE SOM!!!

  • This was a very funky ass video!!! Before its time and always will be! That is why i love her

  • i know how lame it is when people say this, but today's mainstream media/arts would really benefit from someone like grace jones. just for the way she fucked with the beauty myth.

  • I have been searching for this version with the intro. THANKS for posting

  • It's interesting.

  • this woman scares the shit out of me

  • exactly, she disturbs me as well, always did. great voice, great song, vid's nuts.. disturbing 80's... jeez...lol

  • OMFG U TOOO? dude she looks like she would like chew your brain she looks madd crazy and shit.

  • Awesome, I never have to take mushrooms again.

  • looooooooooooooool. exactly, this is disturbing.just think about all the time and effort to produce a crazy vid like this, and where do this ideas came from?! crazy 80's...

  • Muito bom,amei,isso é um video criativo

:D Lady and Bey and Madonna bebeou muito dessa agua

    obg Phelipe Cruz

  • Does anyone know the artist or model that is on at 2:41??

  • It was a Citroen CX Prestige, not a shitty XM that was the 90,s, sorry to sound geeky bout it.

  • That part at 3:26 reminds me of an old European "Orangina" ad from the 80's because that's what's in the bottles.

    Funny as hell...Orangina's great, too.

  • I think a lot French companies used Grace Citroen in particular... spot the advert for the XM.

  • This video was way before its time.

    Thanks for posting!

    x

  • That Tambourine reminds me of the great Motown Mixes... in yer face!

    I love this track!

  • "Gotta Love the Beat", Thats E.U... A go-go band from our Nations Capitol. Doin da' butt came much later!

  • stupenda performer, mio idolo anni 80;-) questa canzone rappresenta per me il ricordo dei miei anni più belli. grazie

  • Yep, def 80's icon.

  • The best video ever made. I remember it used to scare me as a child though. As an adult I can appreciate the art and meaning behind it now. Thanks for sharing this piece of art.

  • jean paul goude made some of the best videos in the eighties !

  • VALLA PUTA MIERDAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • Well, not to forget the genial artistic sense of her boyfriend/lover/mentor Jean-Paul Goude.

The amazing artist "Grace Jones" this is the 2 of them!

  • stupend song

  • I remember back when this video first came out, my first thought was "What in the FUCK is this????" Looking back...it's true art in motion. It's now one of my fave videos from the 80's.

  • LMAO...

Grace'll get you like that every time STRAIGHT OUT OF LEFT FIELD!

    She's GREAT though!

  • she was a true artist!!!! she is her art

  • I Love 1:11 part of the video. Like Winning the Mega-Million Lottery.

  • Grace Jones was always far in front than any other artist at that time so innovative.

  • Wonderful. Grace Jones is so beautiful. Her music was so extreme. I especially liked this song.

  • Best artist to come out of Jamaica apart from Bob Marley naturally

  • WHAT IS THAT AT 2.55? THE M.J. MACHINE?

  • Much as I love this song, I have to admit that it is less of a vehicle for Grace Jones' talent and more of a vehicle for Trevor Horn's talent. Listen to Art Of Noise or most of Seal's work and you'll hear a very similar sound. Grace has a great voice and character, but you can't really say that this song is any reflection of her songwriting ability.

  • I take your point, but one could say the same about some Motown artists and even the great Elvis.

I prefer to look at all songs as paintings where the artists are collaborating by adding their own take on colour, shade and tone.

Every partnership contains one more dominant member but this doesn't make the art any less beautiful.

    Good Point though mate...

  • Living Moving Breathing ART!!!

  • Grace Jones is an amazing performer and performance artist. The cinematography in this video is amazing (no computers were used).

If only we had some original artists these days.

  • k aprenda la tagala preysler

  • ART.

  • Great song. Video doesn't do it justice. Song will def be a remake in the next 5 years.

  • rare....

  • This is cool : )

  • Bellissima canzone, bellissimo video!

  • So creative I love Grace! She's unique and mad, in a really great way. I admire this woman. Never been afraid to speak her mind and do things her way. Rock on Miss Grace!!!

  • Say what you like about this woman, but she produced great songs! bravo Grace!

  • She was an Icon and still forever I love her

  • your crazy!!!! cutting edge, even today

  • Just sounds like generic 80s crap, something out of a Panama Jack commercial or some bad 80s beach movie.

  • Looks like you know nothing of creative musical innovation. Grow up.

  • I know this song could be the background music for any generic 80s B movie.

  • Wow, if that is not a generalization I don't know what is... That really doesn't say much about anything. That is like saying a Def Leppard song could be the background music for any late 70s hair metal flick... Sure It could, but a million other songs from the era, good or bad could just as well. So, your point is?

  • You said it best, it sounds like a million other songs and or elevator music... or some other generic crap.

  • okay.... well then. You are too stupid too have a conversation with... Good Day. Facepalm*

  • Ooooh, so sorry for you that your ears can't make the difference :(

(some ear-training course at Berklee would help?)

  • dont be proud of a skindcolor

  • dont be a proud cunt

  • if everyone was treated equally or if some people didn't have the atitude that they are superior to everyone else, thjen pride of one's skincolor wouldn't exist nor would it be necessary.

  • Grace Jones and this song.....She makes me soo proud to be a black woman who's creative and artistic.

  • : D

  • no matter time...i will love this song forever!!!

  • SHE IS AMAZING, BRASIL LOVE YOU!!!

  • Outrageous 'product placement' advertising (Kodak, Orangina). Sexy narration by Ian McShane and brilliant production by Trevor Horne. Great!

  • Remember this video from my childhood..

  • i love grace!!!! e mais um monte de gente

  • : )p

  • ladies and gentleman,miss Grace Jones !!! ;-)

  • What a fantastic video!

  • you could make a video like this today it would just be editded before it was relased this is the complete studio version not the relased version lol

  • Chapeau bas Mister Jean-Paul Goude.

    J'en serais presque nostalgique

  • GREAT GREAT GREAT !!!

  • This Gilr Should make A Horror Flim she has a great imagnation

  • She was in a movie called VAMP in the 1980's it was a horror/comedy IMO...but she played a vampire/stripper.

  • o and i have that movie on dvd i dont like it the fact she didnt speak in it put me off

  • I have a feeling you wouldn't be allowed to make a music video like this today.

  • You're so right... these visuals were magnificant... totally original...

  • Song is Good but i Get a Head Acke from the video

  • Wow!!! this video is so artistic!

  • amaaazing.

  • Great song. Amazing video

  • A woman ahead of her time

  • It's the Voodoo, I tells ya!

  • GREAT !!!!

  • She has a strong voice.

  • Grace Jones is a female BA Baracus and on the evidence of this video and others she's up to something peculiar.

  • Comment removed

  • Fantastic!

  • Someone took down the vid when she was on the Terry Wogan show in the 80s singing this song and very slowly unwrapping her Egyptian Mummy outfit she had on. It was a hot vid!

  • Who played the drums on this?

  • The drumming is AMAZING!!!!!

I think it's Jeff Porcaro, but i'm not sure

  • This is one of the best videos ever! So glad to find it on here.

  • wot a class tune & absolutely SUPERB video. (on a par as gud as the video for "true faith" by New Order)

This woman used 2 scare me when I was young...I now appreciate that she is a LEGEND !!!

  • Medusa.

  • That's a diss to Grace Jones!

  • Oh she was so ahead of her time. Like Josephine Baker and Eartha Kitt. This woman was a pure genious. She is so talented and beautiful.

  • OHHHHH MYYYYYYYY, WOOOW. If you blink watching a damn grace jones video you miss aloooot. Cre-A-TIVE.

MISS GRACE JONES!

  • Love that guitar sound

  • One of the few times I've been awestruck in my life was the first time I heard this song playing, in a dark, mysterious record shop in Edinburgh's Royal Mile. What an experience! "Unique" is the word.

  • BRASIL LOVE GRACE JONES!!!!!!!!

  • What a unique soul. A true legend !

  • Les images sont de Jean-paul Goude son compagnon d'alors.

  • Ouais et j'ai lu qu'ils ont un fils, qui est maintenant un musicien de quelque sorte--?

  • Grace's is unique ' A One Off ' brill x

  • This lady used to scare the living daylights out of me when I was a baby. Looking back she was cool, innovative, and unique, with an amazing voice. Lady Gaga who?????!!!!!!!!

  • haha!! I thought I was the only one. She use to scare the shit of me when I was a baby too!! LOL

  • AMAZING GRACE !!!!

    ICONIC GRACE JONES !!!!!

I saw Grace Jones in 1977 a most amazing show !

  • Trevor Horn. A true genius of music production.

  • Yes!!!!

  • Grace Jones is the absolute epitome of 'cool'. Simply put, she's a legend.

  • One lady that could turn me staight, sod madonna grace any day

  • 0:37

    Orangina!

  • Say what you like about Grace Jones - people have criticized her voice, her acting, even her LOOK! But when she appeared on the radar in the Eighties, she swept all before her. She went from being the most recognised model to regularly appearing on TV, in films and in the music chart. 'Island Life' (the album this track is taken from) is a great record on it's own... But this single is AWESOME. One of the most original songs and videos of the decade, but all too often overlooked imho.

  • Why? Grace's voice is good, it was even better on her late 70s disco albums. I think Do or Die is one of the best disco era songs actually.

  • loved this tune when it came out who played the drums on this one hell of a pocket

  • I can't think of another artistic video and so great like this one. And such a great song. Remarkable!

  • 1. the singer has personality (a unique one that is)

    2. the singer has a voice and can actually sing

    3. the song and sound were created and designed by real musicians/artists

    4. Grace Jones has been a superstar for decades as model, actor, singer

    5. unlike 90% of todays "singers" she would stand out if one saw her in a crowd of hundreds of people

  • Is standing out in a crowd that important for singers, quotation marks or otherwise?

  • I mean, if you showed me or played me the songs of 10 or 50 of todays celebrities I probably couldn`t tell you who it is in 90 % of the cases. They`re all the same, no class, no style, no personality, forgotten after 5 years of making money for their producers.

  • I was not born when this was happening, but WOW.....thanks for sharing...

  • Thank you for posting this great material of master Jean Paul Goude combined with Grace Jones ...A winnig team for sure.

  • Ian Mcshain AKA "Love Joy" (that lovable rogue)

  • mitica la vrais music des annee 80

  • YYYYYAAAAAAAAY! I LOVE GRACE JONES!

  • what a track, nothing compared to this at the time, Grace is top masturbating material too

  • uh... um... well, I certainly liked the song.

    the video, though... er...

well, Grace Jones is certainly gifted with good looks and a nice voice. and whoever came up with the concept of that video (her and the director, I assume) must have done some really... REALLY good drugs.

cuz damn. I'm downright speechless from watching that...

I don't hate it, but it's truly blown my mind. I can't even form a proper opinion of this as a result. x_x

  • The video compiles images from Jean-Paul Goode's book, "Jungle Fever," various ads he directed in France in the Eighties for Orangina, Lee Cooper Jeans, Kodak, and of course, Citroen, and other videos he directed for Grace Jones. So the song and video, in borrowing from Washington DC's go-go sound, also mashes JPG's creativity!

  • Thank you for being the first comment I've seen (so far) to mention the DC go-go sound on this song! We LIVED for this song here back in the day! #1 jam in the Capital City!

  • Se was fantastic in the 80s and sure still is.

  • She certainly is / Was a ' Loose Cannon'

  • Une artiste très complète ...

Ce sont les publicités auxquelles elle a participé (Kodak, Citroen..) il y a du Goude derrière tout ça !!!

  • absolutely stunning video, song, and personality artist. everything is a yes yes yes.

  • she looks like a man eater

  • she can eat me any time!

  • Grace Jones - babka z jajami hehe- ładnie spiewa. my opinion

  • This is some LEGENDARY shit.

  • O...M...G those were the days. And the remix to this song was off tha hook. This is gonna make me wanna listen to some Colonel Abrams ish.

  • FIVE STARS! YEAH, YEA, YAH! One of the best songs to come out of the 80s.

  • i just love this track !!

  • awesome pop culture......

  • She Scares Me ... O.O

  • She's highly effective! Fierce!

  • seen her not so long ago in a talk show on BBC, she was an adorable sweet lady ;}} ,still looks great btw
