Squeeze are finally mature and back together, It's a shame that they were such drunks when they were younger. They have the distinction as a band of having drank more alcohol before a concert than any other band in music history. Summat like 3 dozen beer between them, and over a 40 ounce bottle of hard stuff each. When they played in 1982-83 in Vancouver, they were so hammered that they almost could not play. Wonderful band when they were not shiat-faced
always been a Squeeze fan, went to see the guys at the manchester apollo years back, but how is it they have had so many line-up changes down the years, anyone?
Glen: A brilliant guitarist - The lead break on this song has an almost Stax/Steve Cropper feel to it with more embellishment. I don't know much about guitar chord progressions but I know top notch musicianship when I hear and GT has it.
@ega95jch Absolutely spot on, mate. He is one of the best guitarists around, great songwriter, singer, lead/rhythm guitar. Truly amazing. The solo alone should win a Grammy/Bafta/Oscar every award going! Glenn, you are sooooooooo great!!
Dearest Youtube. I'm afraid there is an error with this video. There is a dislike button. And 5 poor souls were dumb enough to hit it. Could you please remedy this situation quickly? Thank you. A Squeeze fan for life.
The real title of this song is "Another Nail For My Heart" and listen; they sing 'for' not 'in'. It's still a bloody fantastic song even after 31 years :)
I remember being at an open mic night in New Cross in the early 90's and Chris Difford pitching up and playing this and a few other Squeeze songs on his own (after a good bit of coersion!)! The small crowd didn't want to let him go! What a star... :-)
Glenn's solos are always perfect for the song. beautifully constructed, no noodling..genius. His "Is that love" solo is up there with the best of any genre.
Kinksboss -- he's the only other contender for the crown, yes. I thought of putting that very qualifier in my comment -- I'm a complete kinks fan, completely agree he's utterly under-rated, never even had a Rolling Stone covber to himself. But I but decided against it, since I was dealing in songwriting pairs, and these two are . . .well, what i said before. Cheers

Can a band be too intelligent? Too singular? Squeeze seems to qualify on both counts. Unmatched lyrical brilliance -- no pair of songwriters -- has ever told stories about ordinary folk with such insight and lyrical precision.
I remember seeing them in their third incarnation at the WHFS Acoustic Christmas Concert in Washington, D.C., which also featured Tony Bennett. But Squeeze topped the bill, and they were awesome! The harmonizing vocals of Chris and Glenn on "Another Nail" and "Pulling Mussels" were especially memorable
I like Squeeze, I am not sure about what you mean underrated, they were all over radio and mtv in America in the 80's. But as since the 60's there have been a tremendous amount of bands that never got much notice, some that made one hit wonders....on up to the beatles, id say Squeeze is recognized as a being pretty good rock and roll band that had a lot of hits. There were overrated acts that had that new wave sound surely. Is that what you mean?
One of the best guitar solos in the history of music. He destroys that complex progression with ease. Keys are underrated also. Just a killer song from a killer band.
@PeterLafluer12 A great solo, and a very fitting one for the song!! But take it Easy!! hehe,o love it too but its really quite simple. And Simple is perfect in many cases.Hearing it you can tell that it is a song in itself--every phrase practiced a million times--- and it works!! But Greates, among the greatist is a little far.But hey man i still love it!
When I first heard this on the radio when it was released, I remember trying to guess who it was by. Paul McCartney was one of my few conclusions!! It is the best Squeeze song and resides at number 10 in my top 30 of all time (and I've heard a lot of chart music).

@Sheldon66 Sorry Sheldon66, even if I could see the connection between Squeeze and Oasis, I would resist it with all my might. Apart from 'Cigarettes and Alcohol' and 'Some Might Say', I have to say that by and large I greatly dislike, nay detest, Oasis. In fact I'd go as far as to say that 'The Importance of Being Idle' would rate in my Top 10 worst songs of the past ten years.
