I love them alot more than their 3D counterparts and I think people would rejoice to see it go back to its roots. Perhaps remaster metroid 2 ala zero mission and put it on the virtual console?

The Metroid franchise has always had themes of exploration, isolation and cosmic horror. Other M has one theme, motherhood, which fits in with the established canon about as well as Sonic turning into a fucking werewolf.

Dialogue sucked, VA sucked, story sucked, gameplay was a lot more linear; everything about Other M SUCKED ASS. It wasn't "The worst selling Metroid Game" for nothing.

And let me be clear, I'm saying this as a Metroid fan. I loved Metroid II, Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion, Metroid Zero Mission, Metroid Prime 1, 2, and 3.

@metroidcypher the prime series added the most plot and backstory to the series, and they were not written by sakamoto. if the story was more solitary with no other characters, had a mature samus, and if the game had no first person sections and the art direction was more similar to stylized platformers like Outland, DK Country Returns, or Super Meat Boy (strict 2D with heavily stylized graphics) then it could have been a great game. Here's hoping for a Metroid V that does this.
