I hate chain mail, but I get so scared...Sorry...Sorry this is scary if u read this far u will die in 10 days if u dont send to any 15 videos in 2 hours good luck hope u dont die
probably shoulda elevated it to stop bleeding lol.. looks sore! i never had one of those in my leg, had the op 4 days ago now, pains easing thank god:P
ya at the time i probably should have. Thats great to hear your 4 days out, it's all down hill from there. Each day should feel a little better and better. This clip was from my second ACL surgery, and looks like im gonna have to have a 3rd one sometime in the next couple of months. good luck with ur knee n do PT! (stem and ice does wonders)
no, no infection. Removing a catheter like this there really is no chance of getting an infection. Inserting one however, yes requires a sterile technique.
When people wear gloves and other safety measures for removing catheters in the hospital, it is known as universal precautions and is to protect the healthcare worker (not the patient) from being exposed to patient's bodily fluids. Since it was my own, no harm no foul.
sterile techniques and procedures both protects the patients and the healthcare worker..even more so the patient from airborne microbes..and possible microbes from the healthcare worker itself.. that's why they're wearing nitrile gloves and sterile masks.. removing a catheter like that by yourself is not really a good idea..but, hey.. you're doing fine.. so, just always be careful...
You guys are all funny. No i'm not going to (or wasn't going to) get an infection from that. Obviously you can tell it is a sterile aseptic procedure and location. (drippin with sarcasm)
It doesn't really matter if you take it out or a doctor does. Do u think a doctor knows how to pull on a tube better than anyone else?
No there is no pain involved, i was grimacing at the fact that it felt weird and that it grossed me out at the time
That tube administers a pain med and is to be removed after three days or when the medication has run out. When done in the correct mannor, the pain is minimal if at all. My guess, this man was on blood thinners of some sort, hence the bleeding. Also, it can be removed just as easily from home as in the hospital.
you are crazy man...how could you do that to your self..its painful,if i was in your place i would go to the doctor and let him do it by him self..its his job and i dont care..do not do this again
Man I have been working as a medical professional for 3 years now and I never would have been able to take it out myself. I would have probably puked all over the place.
If you read my info on the video you would have known that you are suppose to remove the catheter 3 days after surgery. It's called a pain pump and it provides local anesthesia to the surgical area, after three days you take it out. No doctor necessary.
i am a second year nursing student and i am pretty sure that it is meant to be a medical professional or student who takes that out so that it is done in an aseptic way so that the patient does not end up with any infection in the site
Thats awesome, i'm a nursing student too (4th year).
Aseptic technique is not indicated, it is a clean procedure, not a sterile one. It is similar if you have ever disconncected any sort of drain, e.g. jackson pratt, hemovac etc...
just wash the area and your hands with soap and you'll be fine, even if you don't you'll most likely still be fine.
Cheers and goodluck with the rest of your nursing program :)
nursing students, eh? well, i'm going to major in biology to pursue a career in medicine. any advice that will help me in a few years, as far as what i should do? you kno, something i won't hear from my peers or my advisors.

that was brave what you did there.
NOT.
it was plain stupid because you obviously did it for fun.

ya try having a catheter shuved up your dick hole in other words urethra and it is even thicker that happened to me yesterday

OMG. I am sorry I gave you one star.
I do not want ppl to do this at home.
But there has to be a more clinical
procedure for proper catheter removal.
God bless you. I hope you are fine now.
I am not familiar with knee surgury.
But the self-removal seemed unprofessional.
Like I said, I know nothing of catheter
removal of this nature. I just hope ppl
at home have theirs professionally removed.
