There are black ppl who live good and there are many who still suffer. I think Black in America is trying to give hope to the one's that are still suffering. You can't forget about the underdog. I also think that programs that promote financial intelligence should be placed in the projects. Money can be spent for pleasure but all should not be wasted. Some money should be for investments to create assets that create income.
I totally agree regarding the perpetuated myth of the Black American. It's offensive. I'm white and I grew up with a first generation Jamaican/ Senegalese. He is now 26 with a college degree and has owned his own home going on 4 years. He has never been arrested nor does he do drugs. His parents met when they first came to this country (yes legally) and have been together ever since. They are a perfect example of what makes America great. Why isn't his story told?

The Majority of Blacks are not Middle Class. 50% of black men are unemployed. 36% of Black Men have graduated from college as of 2006. I also think that programs that promote financial intelligence should be placed in the projects. Money can be spent for pleasure but all should not be wasted. Some money should be for investments to create assets that create income.

I don't want to insult you, but the Media is why racism is still a problem. They slant things to keep the colored stirred up about there being unfairness, and whites get stirred up over the same thing. And also feel that they can't have an opinion without it offending someone, and feel that a reverse racism is happening. We, need to ask ourselves, who benefits from us being at each others throats??? Peace

I agree. Black in America did not show enough black middle class nor showed hardly anything positive about blacks. It mostly focused on the poverty and other negativity blacks face. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying to not show any of it because that is real, but to show more pos. than neg.

The Majority of Blacks are not Middle Class. 50% of black men are unemployed. 36% of Black Men have graduated from college as of 2006. There will always be exceptions to the case, but if one were to generalize the state of Blacks in America most of them never experienced your priviledged upbringing. You are the minority amongst a minority in the same vein Barack Obama is. Barack wouldnt be an accurate assessment of the black experience here in America.

From what I've seen, this production showed blacks from high society to middle class, and lower class. It's important that that viewers see the whole nine, just from from one angle. What show have you been watching. I Saw CEOs, business men and women, teachers, young men and women who will make a strong difference in the future.

It seems as if the media in general is only happy with painting negative pictures of us, when just as much negative shit happens in predominately white neighborhoods.
