  • Have you ever clocked the fuel mileage on any of your Cadillacs? I reacall it was a well known fact that the fifties models got quite good readings,in fact better than a Ford V-8, due to the precision engineering and build quality of the powertrain. The V-8 was literally blueprinted before installation, and the HM fluid couplings eliminated the "looseness" of torque converters, hence the need for T/C lock-up clutches in modern cars.Again, many happy miles!

  • @Mrtriumphchopper Yes I have--I got an honest 18 MPG on a trip from Dallas to Waco in the early years that I owned this car. Not only was the Dual Range Hydra-Matic the best for both performance and MPG, they began using a 3.07 axle ratio in '53 in conjunction with the re-designed Hydra-Matic, which was far below the usual 3.55 or higher in other cars.

  • how much do you think it would sell for and/or how much did you buy it for?

  • @PinelochTundra The nicest 56's are going for around $28-42K--I paid just less than the lower of these amounts in 2002.

  • @NDrLoR oh ok cause i have a 56 to.

  • Incredible car...What else is there to write?

  • @cadrolls1 Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the ride!

  • thank you for commenting back to me . I had a 55 caddy when i was 20 years old and lost her in a flood and to this day i still miss that car and i'm 53 now , have never forgotten that car, had several other cadillacs after that , but the 55 was my dream car .

  • So sorry you lost yours! There is just something magical about the Cadillacs of '55--they represented the zenith of automotive beauty and class, undiluted by any other considerations. Later models may have been faster/smoother/"better"/cleaner/safer, et al, but they never again had the class of those '55s.

  • what a beautiful caddy thanks for posting your videos of her .

  • Thanks for coming along for the ride!

  • Great ride - sorry I couldn't make it to be with you

  • Thanks! Enjoyed the ride in your Chrysler as well and the visit to the pub! I've subscribed to your channel!

  • Hi - So I guess we will meet up for a drink at some point !!

  • You should count on it! I'm getting the '56 out later today the weather having warmed a bit and I'll be there God willing and the creek don't rise!
