Thanks for uploading! I have a son who is Gay and I am scared shitless, because he is not aware how much hate is out there...we live in a really redneck area...
@FredDerSchoene Bless your hearts! You and your son are not alone. There is a huge community supporting you both and angels all around you. Hang in there...and remember, LOVE is more powerful than hate can ever be. "Whenever I despair, I remember that the way of truth and love has always won. There may be tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they may seem invincible, but in the end, they always fail. Think of it: ALWAYS." Ghandi
Great to see someone recognize just how hard Judy Shepard has been working for equality for gay people for all these years. Judy Shepard is a saint. She is pure class. She is an excellent example of a mother's unconditional love for her child.
I was there at the concert and it was one of the amazing momentsof my life. It was powerful message, songs were incredible. And his speech made me cry for Mathew and his family all over again. And for everyone who has endured so much. And when he announced how much the concert raised you could hear the roar all over Wyoming. Thank you for posting and to remind what happened and never to forget.
I was unaware of this concert. Right on, Elton! Like Judy Shepard, he speaks sincerely and extemporaneously. Yes, it is long overdue that the Matthew Shepard Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Act passes. AND Matt should be on a stamp.
this just made me cry....so touching. truth is powerful and elton speaks it loud and clear.....my soulmate was killed in a horrible murder just a few years before Matthew was killed...this cannot be allowed to happen, it shouldn't...may the light of truth and love shine....let us dare to dream! thank you Elton John.
Lisa- I'm so sorry to hear about what happened to your Soul Mate. I can't imagine any words are sufficient to express what you have endured. My heart goes out to you/your families. I'm glad I was able to capture a small part of this event so that you could connect with it, and us, by doing so.
Thank you so much for posting this! It's wonderfull! When Elton made this speech, I actually happened to be celebrating my 33rd birthday! It's a nice coincidence and a great reminder to be grateful for being alive!

Right on, Sir Elton! He's having a concert for the Matthew Shepard Foundation on 12 April 2011. He kept his word.

Elton John is such a great and beautiful man... very heroic how he carries this, and something to be proud of.
The death of Matthew has been very moving for me, so I'm glad to see this kind of stuff on YouTube.

I accidentally deleted a comment asking if I had a video of Elton singing American Triangle. I did not get video, but I did capture audio.
