This shows why some people may be angry and resort to violence, but the true way of Buddhism is through non-violence, as evident by the monks and countless others, who don't get reported on because they are doing the right thing, and that isn't exciting to the news. It is terrible what happened and the Dalai Lama commented on TV last night how much suffering it causes especially because the children that died and with the 'one-child-policy' to many parents that was the only child.

If you ask me:

KARMA is SANSKRIT and means ACTION

Every action has effects.

Just what has he done in the past 60 years to help make Tibetans live better? i am not talking about building roads or schools because it is obviously beyond his ability. but what has his initial call for independence and later middle path or the current genuine autonomy done for tibetans? i am half australian, when i backpacked in tibet 3 years ago, most people there think dalai lama is a troublemaker. go ask them.

Most people in any given country regard those who fight for their freedom as a trouble-maker. That's just as true in America as it is in Tibet. The mentality is that they will get in trouble because someone was fighting for their rights, thus making the authorities angry with them.

In the past 60 years, he has tirelessly worked towards a peaceful resolution between Tibet and China. If they haven't made progress yet, I don't think the blame lies with him.
