I took this tour also....had out-of-town visitors into New Orleans who booked it, I had never been and I lived there. Very close in to NOLA...on the 'west bank' of the city. Worth doing if you want to see the swamp country and still be in close to the city. As to Marie Laveau, she lived ONLY in the city of New Orleans n the Quarter......there are interesting books on that subject.
We did the same tour but on Airboats, had a great time! We knowledged, humourous and certainly made an interesting tour when they bought the Baby Gator on board!! Ha ha my new fiance' just about jumped into the swamp
I've considered taking that tour, but was wondering if there is anything about Jean Lafitte on the tour? I'm very interested in his and his brother's histories and want to see some of the places they worked out of. Awesome video, by the way!
@bearchewtoy75 not usually because i see them every day and i dont carry marshmellows around, but when i walk on the nature trail i bring some with me sometimes, and feed them.
If you ever get another chance to go, GO! It was such an amazing tour. You may also want to try to go when it's slow. This was taken a few days before Hurricane Gustav was about to strike, so many people left the area early.
Great video. I'm looking into booking that tour on my next visit to NOLA.

@mlyness100
Thanks!
I'm remember anything about Jean Lafitte being mentioned on this tour, but I do know that he gets mentioned when tours go by the Blacksmith shop

Nice tour but the tour company should have strict rules against feeding the alligators.

@3p47L
THEY feed them marshmallows to get them to come closer to the boat.

mwillblade 3 years ago
Yea where the raised pipeline droops into the water. Check it out on google earth. I havnt been back there in about 5 months though.
nismo0315 3 years ago
haha. i went on an airboat tour in Lafitte, and the alligators were eating marshmallows.
they're really badly flooded now, though.
