every year MTV and VH1 ask me to be on this show called one hit wonders and every year I tell them to fuck off! how can you have a pop radio hit in the USA when the record label your'e on dosn't put up the cash for you to get on the radio. I'm happy with the 6# 1 billboard dance hits we had- you dont need to pay them money for that spot. -Lady Kier
I don't know where VH1 got thier facts for segment. Thier third album "Dew Drops in the Garden" sold more then their first album which included "Groove is in the Heart." They had even bigger hits worldwide after their first album. If you listen to their tracks, it's complex but great to listen to. Ahead of thier time and a great deal of talent. Lady Kier can dance and has an amazing voice.
Def NOT a one hit wonder, especially to people that sepnt any time in clubs. I used to pre-party to their music on the way to clubs from like 2003 to 2006. This band is AMAZING, love em'!!
The Disco eighty's Era was such a happy time for me, and I didnt have a problem with nobody regaurdless of sexual preferences, and even though there are still as many AC/DC people out there in Groove land there has been a Drastic noticeable change in the Party attitude.
Deeelite's first LP is no joke. It is a unbelievably tight album. The album is one of the best thing that came out from NY club scene; multi-cultural, hip hop, house and funk music are beautifully integrated into one album. I believe this is the only album ever to list drag queens and hip hip artists in the same thanks-list!
Music journos and commentators, (apart from Kate Pierson in this case, who's cooler than deep space) always sound so pompous and up themselves don't they?
i AM RIGHT THERE WITH YA!!! I was in college at the University of Louisville when these guys hit. They played a rave on Halloween. After that, we hung out with the whole ensemb at WhiteCastle (WC Lounge!!) What a Dee-fucking-Groovy, HAZY memory!
MTV premiered the groove is in the heart video in Jan 1990. at the time it made me think, wow we're heading into the 90's the future. the 80's are over. this is different and from then on. this track set the tone for that whole techno 90's thing to come.
Deelite were great, nothing anyone says will change that. They were only "one hit wonders" in the mainstream sense.Otherwise they were not. Also "Groove Is In The Heart"is the best dance song ever!
Haha,I agree. What is this, there is no original music video or any video that has features "Groove Is In The Heart".They have either been removed or the audio has been disabled.Only remixes are still available.
and this is bs, the original was great. I call bs on youbube, stop the crap, give us back the real vidieo. you do this to dee lite, all other artists are going to go the same way.
I agree with traydiva24- Deee-lite was huge in the dance/ club scene! However, they only had 1 hit rise to the top of the billboard charts. Unfortunate, 'cuz we mighta got more out of them!
How dare they! One hit wonder? Never. I was heavily into the club scene at this time and Deee-Lite was a very popular group then. I loved them and still play them every now and then!
Ooh yur fine Dimitry . . . you gotta find away to come back to me . . . ED wwwdotgreycelebrationdotcom

WRONG!!!! they had several hits.
VJTOMYAZ 1 year ago
Wikipedia says that they had SIX #1's on the Billboard dance charts!
At least on 2 occasions they had two songs that were dance #1's simultaneously!
Most of their singles charted on the regular top 40 charts though too.
That's a lotta hits!

Power of Love was a minor Pop hit, but the average Joe probably only remembers Groove, hence the one hit wonder moniker
