Actually...after watching some screenshots from the game again. Now I think 3 has even crappier creature's spirits. I totally forgot their bad looking, 1st one were nice for those years and still look nice, 2nd one were decent atleast but 3rd, looks awfull.
I dont understand why people hate Heroes 6 so much :D . I love all Might and Magic games , best Homm for me is the third one.However I dont think Heroes 6 is bad, Its just..different, but i still like it :D.

@kirllikil number 5 implemented it's transition to 3D poorly, the extra graphics and no change to how creatures acted made the battles look even less real, while adding an annoying need to constantly change your camera angle and adding a very useless zoom in feature, which would've been cool for fight scenes alone if they improved the creature fighting. I disagree. It makes sense to cut some of the excess resources for general replay value. I would like to see ONE MORE resource, like sulfur, but I like how they've implemented it. Of course, you have wood, ore, and crystal in H6. That's 3, not 1. "Shared dwellings"=converting towns? I think that's a great idea. You know, I was one of those people that was stuck on HOMM2. I fought HOMM3, but finally gave in, and when I did, I learned that different didn't mean bad.
Anyway, H6 is a great game and I love it (over 300 hours in). H6 let me down with the town screen, the lack of any dragons whatsoever (expansion), and CONFLUX. Conflux is a bad idea taken too far. Dynasty is cool though.
I'm noticing that most people who hate H6 loved H4 and H5. I simply couldn't play those two, so maybe you're just more of a fan of H4 and H5, whereas I'm into HOMM1-3. Which says to me that H6 is more like 2 and 3, and that's a good thing.

fanfuckingtastic! one of the best series ever! didn't play hmm1 too much, spent a couple of years on hmm2, a couple on hmm4. hmm5 - not impressed, hmm6 - haven't even seen. HMM3 - the best! have been playing it since release up till now intermittently=) immortal game! as well as warcraft2, diablo (hellfire) and duke nukem 3d. oh eah, those were the days...with love from Russia!

This game looks nice. =] I wonder which one it was I played years ago. I think it looks more modern than this but still pretty old. All I remember were the horsey footprints. Hooveprints?
Use H3 gameplay + 3d graphics,better music,battles,more spells, creatures, towns, etc. = H7. I get they're are trying something "different" but you can stick to the most successful format and still have progress.
Only one that wasn't good was the 5th. The other ones, all good. 1-2-3-4-6. Eventhough the 4th one, was more like Age of Wonders than heroes of might and magic, so I guess that pulls it down, as well as the wierd Hero gameplay.
Honestly, I don't get all the nostalgia for 3DO as a company. They weren't really that great. Now, I love HoMM3 and MM6 and consider them masterpieces. But it was probably more luck than anything that New World Computing managed to make games that good. Look at their plans for the Forge expansion for HoMM3....

The "plans" we have at our disposal are only concepts, and some of them rather early ones.
The expansion was almost complete through, until hardcore Heroes fans / original series haters told them to scrap it. It is one of the reasons why 3DO went bancrupt. Heroeses.

Agreed man. I've been playing HOMM since H1 and H4 is even better than H3 in my opinion. I LOVED the idea of your hero actually fighting battles. And I LOVED EVEN MORE the fact that your hero could become so powerful that he can win battles all by himself. That's not a hero, that's THE hero =D
Also, some of the tracks from H4 are the best of the entire series. (Chaos theme comes to mind here).

People, please; Heroes 5 is a new and improved Heroes 3, some things are the same as in 3, and EVERYTHING else is better, so how can 3 be better than 5??

Hexagonal battlefields are better than quadratic, city improvements were more reasonable, no necromancy handicaps and battles are 5 times as swift as they are in 5th are very little portion of a big list of superiorities of 3 over 5. You'll say "hurr 2 upgrades of units and stuff"; I say, that it's only made for the expansion to get sold.
@sunnyhvar1992 Well I never played Heroes 3 for some reason, or well I played it like 5 minutes at a friends house when it first come out, but during those 5 minutes, it didnt grab me like heroes 2 did. For me, heroes 2 is still the pinnacle of turn based strategy. I tried Heroes 5, but I didnt care that much for it, it wasnt bad, but it felt to slow and awkward somehow, to much fancy filling that doesn't improve gameplay. But, I will go ahead and buy Heroes 3 and try it out.
@TheOdMan do not forget to play heroes 3 stoned vs your best friend or if your new to the pc with your best friend makes the enemy epic strong to combine there forces and you with your friend, then play and see who dies first, its more fun then you ever could imagine, one pc needed just to laugh with your friend 2 vs 6 pc and make them evil strong and play with recourses then you feel the fun:) STONED makes it 200% more intresting :)

I've played all the HOMM games the same year they came out (except 6, and I threw out 5 very quickly). 1 was cool, 2 definitely rocked, 3 kicked ass and 4 is one of the most artistic and fun games I know. I had no idea Heroes fans would hate that game so much? Because of a few different features, heroes who can actually fight?
I'm actually glad Ubisoft picked up HOMM for one thing. If they hadn't the final game in that legacy would have been that failed experiment of a game heroes 4.
@branza27 heroes 4 is kinda unlike the others and people were used to the homm3 type of gameplay that's why people consider it a dissapointment unlike my dad that is he loves the game and finished it like 8 times+the expansions
i agree with klerotik. I liked Heroes IV because it was new, different, challenging and opened up many strategic opportunities... Heroes V was basically Heroes III 2.0 without the creativity and with crappy Wow-like design.
@Xecutionner2K Well its more of what you like, for me the new change in the environment and story was needed after 3 games that seemed alike, but then comes HoMM 5 which ruined my entire follow on the story. it has no place in the story line whatsoever.. You'd expect after so many years for something really good if they wanted to revive the Franchise, but never mind..
HoMM 4 still holds up for me because it came at a good time and it showed that it still had plenty of ideas left.

To be honest, Posaha, you must be the worst fan HoMM series ever had and there are a lot of really bad fans now after the release of HoMM 5. HoMM 4 I discovered to be far more complex then all the other games in the series, including HoMM 3. I may be alone on this decision, but I played all of them.

Music,battle,level up and skillz, Fog of war and campaing were so great...
No more upgrade which mean you could finally buy units from dwellings...

People, please; Heroes 5 is a new and improved Heroes 3, some things are the same as in 3, and EVERYTHING else is better, so how can 3 be better than 5??
(Though, I haven't played WoG, but I don't think that should count as Heroes 3, it is as different from it as Heroes 5, if not more)

Hexagonal battlefields are better than quadratic, city improvements were more reasonable, no necromancy handicaps and battles are 5 times as swift as they are in 5th are very little portion of a big list of superiorities of 3 over 5. You'll say "hurr 2 upgrades of units and stuff"; I say, that it's only made for the expansion to get sold.

@sunnyhvar1992 Well I never played Heroes 3 for some reason, or well I played it like 5 minutes at a friends house when it first come out, but during those 5 minutes, it didnt grab me like heroes 2 did. For me, heroes 2 is still the pinnacle of turn based strategy. I tried Heroes 5, but I didnt care that much for it, it wasnt bad, but it felt to slow and awkward somehow, to much fancy filling that doesn't improve gameplay. But, I will go ahead and buy Heroes 3 and try it out.

@TheOdMan do not forget to play heroes 3 stoned vs your best friend or if your new to the pc with your best friend makes the enemy epic strong to combine there forces and you with your friend, then play and see who dies first, its more fun then you ever could imagine, one pc needed just to laugh with your friend 2 vs 6 pc and make them evil strong and play with recourses then you feel the fun:) STONED makes it 200% more intresting :)

@TheRale32 Well, some 5-6 years ago Heroes 3 was my favorite game, but now, it doesn't come close to Heroes 5.
In 3, most monsters have no special abilities, which means you can have a fast creature, a slow creature, or a shooter.
Heroes 5 simply has more options

I've played all the HOMM games the same year they came out (except 6, and I threw out 5 very quickly). 1 was cool, 2 definitely rocked, 3 kicked ass and 4 is one of the most artistic and fun games I know. I had no idea Heroes fans would hate that game so much? Because of a few different features, heroes who can actually fight?

I'm actually glad Ubisoft picked up HOMM for one thing. If they hadn't the final game in that legacy would have been that failed experiment of a game heroes 4.

Heroes IV - I personally didn't really like it but played it heaps none the less 3.5/5
Heroes V - A huge improvement in graphics and very enjoyable 4/5
Heroes 6 - Preorded.

You younger kids probably never played Heroes 1 and 2, because they're old games.
But if you can get the chance, play and experience them for yourself.
Don't forget King's Bounty. No King's Bounty = no HoMM franchise.

i agree with klerotik. I liked Heroes IV because it was new, different, challenging and opened up many strategic opportunities... Heroes V was basically Heroes III 2.0 without the creativity and with crappy Wow-like design.

They told me that at first you hate the game, but the more you play the most you enjoy it.
I don't trust it, having tried maybe 4 times x 1 hour, i still hate the game.

1. It has AMAZING MUSIC
2. Did I mention the music has to be one of the best in any game Ever?
3. The gameplay requires a hell of a lot more thought then before with so many things extended and some changed.
4. The campaign is very interesting and also fresh, even more then the other 3 before it.
However here's a question for you. Do you hate Kings Bounty, the one remade by Katauri?

@Xecutionner2K Well its more of what you like, for me the new change in the environment and story was needed after 3 games that seemed alike, but then comes HoMM 5 which ruined my entire follow on the story. it has no place in the story line whatsoever.. You'd expect after so many years for something really good if they wanted to revive the Franchise, but never mind..
HoMM 4 still holds up for me because it came at a good time and it showed that it still had plenty of ideas left.

@Totsuzenshi nah, don't even bother, he clearly never played homm 4 and only pretends he did after watching a video or just taking a look at the game for 2 battles and calling it complete overview..
To be honest, Posaha, you must be the worst fan HoMM series ever had and there are a lot of really bad fans now after the release of HoMM 5. HoMM 4 I discovered to be far more complex then all the other games in the series, including HoMM 3. I may be alone on this decision, but I played all of them.
