Didnt colt sue them for copy rights and force them out of the gun trade? He did alot of that at the time to someone who made the same gun as his that he held the rights to.Ive seen one at a gun show and thir the same gun as a 51 navy exept for the name on the gun. They are very rare and worth a lot of cash even a bad one.
Very nice example, looking closely at the pictures it doesnt seem to have been fired much, there is little or no deformation of the nipples and little or no wear to the cylinder notches,if you replaced the takedown bar screw and the nipples would you fire it with a full load?
Thanks! About one third of the firearms, including this one here, are owned by friends & family. I work on them for free, so long as they permit me to profile them here with a video.
very nice... thanks for another great vid. If it's a 5 shot why all the cylinder notches? Is there a cylinder notch for "safe"? That doesn't make sense to me... or are there two locking bolts?
Imagine being shot by that thing, only to be operated on by a civil war era doctor with no anesthesia, dirty instruments and a rudimentary understanding of human anatomy.
A nice Manhattan can be had for about a third of what a Colt goes for. A nice one a couple weeks ago sold for $550.

If I owned it yes, Id fire it with a light load, but it belongs to a friend and they dont wish to fire it, although I feel it would have been safe.

Yes, you are correct, the cylinder has ten notches, it allows the gun to be "locked" between hot cylinders.
