Why the hell can't the Mavericks have a proper love song? It's fine if you're single, but my wife and I can't dance to, or sing to each other these songs, doesn't matter how awesome they sound, because it's all about love lost, and never found. What about love that is found and married and everlasting? There's alot of happy couples whose marketplace is grossly underdeveloped by this awesome band.

I think it is interesting that Cat Stevens/Yusaf's first version started out as kind or melancholy, then the Tremeloes's version went opposite and became a party song. The Mavericks one-upped the Tremeloes by ...well, you are watching the video aren't you? Camels , clowns, Go-Go dancers, did they miss anything in this 3 minute tour de force? And now the Sons of Admirals--right back to Cat's style--much more melancholy and dark. Can't wait to see who does what with this song!

It's the Tremeloes version that was popular, though, rather than the Cat Stevens original. It's perhaps the best dancing song ever - I used to just shake everything to it. (There may well be newer better dancing songs now, sadly my knowledge of music stopped about 1972!)

Kudos to The Mavericks, a fine band for their cool cover of this old Cat Stevens song. I hate to admit however, that I prefer both the original version by Stevens as well as the defining cover of all time, the one done back in 1967 by the immortal TREMELOES.

This is one of those mysteriously intoxicating songs that has always had a major emotional impact on me when I hear it. So fine!!!
