80s MTV's beach contests had men in speedos, too. But as time went on, that corporation embraced street culture and encouraged the showing of women in thongs while encouraging the men to cover up. Watch those beach contests in the later '90s and you'll hear the homophobic remarks from egotistic "celebrity judges" ruining the show for male contestants. I blame MTV for pushing the "longer shorts" agenda led by street culture. It is a fad that should have died 15 years ago.

The 80's were so so so so much better than what we are living through today except for Ronald Reagan and the economic policies that the US is still suffering with today. The big hair, the tans, the muscles, the speedos and the music was so much better, however, and I would love to go back.

i remember the three male dancers names too. man this and me is old. i would stay home from school when i knew that they were to be on tv, gerarldo, and donuhe too.

ok, let me see. Such a shame that guys on the 80´s were so handsome and so brave on wearing really sexy underwear but did not know how to dance or be infront of the stage. But well, let´s admit it also, who cared for that on those days. Thanks for this post.

OMG---I remember Richard Bey's cheezy break into TV with these crazy speedo shows. this was so '80 daytime. you couldn't do this today. American men are way too uptight about wearing speedos today.
