I believe so, i saw this one first at a midnight screening in my city when it came out in 2003 here in the states and it blew my mind. I'm sure Nolan saw this masterpiece of horror and got ideas for his version of Joker including the same blade shoe that Ichi had.
Just read the manga in one sit. And it was shocking, funny and interesting at the same time. I am going to watch the movie tonight to see how it holds up.

ICHI is over-rated imo. Not that much violence compared to other eastern films. Grotesque (jap unrated version) is far more brutal and martyrs aint too bad either. Great for a date movie. You get a romantic comedy much like is seen with the Ben Stiller or Adam Sandler movies. The one liners are to die for, and it's so sad toward the middle, but everything works out in the end. And you leave with a smile. : )

Lol I've recently read the manga and i was thinking "Woah, this thing is sick! It could be a perfect movie, but none would make it ... too much sex or violence" ...

@riku4488 So when God looks at me he doesn't see my sin.He sees His Son who died for me. Because Jesus clothes me with His own righteousness , I don't have to fear God's wrath. That doesn't mean I have a free pass to sin , but I'm only human. And because I'm human I will stumble , but God allows this for His purposes. So I can only pray for forgiveness and rest in His mercy and grace when I stumble. My point is that no one can be Christ-like. Because that would mean being perfect.

Great for a date movie. You get a romantic comedy much like is seen with the Ben Stiller or Adam Sandler movies. The one liners are to die for, and it's so sad toward the middle, but everything works out in the end. And you leave with a smile. : )

com on people this shit wasnt even that bad in term's of sickness. To some degree its even an overrated movie in terms of gore. Some of the effects are poorly done CGI like the part where Ichi splits the man in 2 who was beating up and raping the girl or the end with the Kakihara jaw scene or the part were the old man's head is photoshopped on the body of a buff bodybuilder.
Its not a bad movie don't get me wrong, it has its moments were its sad, funny in a sadist way
