Alaves deserved to win that cup, you can't imagine how small is that club, now is in third division or something like that, this was like a miracle, they showed the world that money isn't everything. As a spanish I'm more proud of that final than all the 9 champions league of Real Madrid.

@LFCEOIN It would have made very little difference except that more games that went to extra time - of which there were only two anyway - would have become conservative and have ended up going to a penalty shootout regardless. The Golden Goal rule promoted blind luck as opposed to genuine strategy, and the fact that this goal and the one scored by Germany in the Euro 96 final were both flukeish efforts caused by defensive mistakes suggests that it was a failure.
