  • @alejandrosoul I can't believe that such a skilled and talented musician would decide to release something that demeaning and cliche.

  • @Tennisers I think it is more so a funny statement he is a comedic in nature

  • OMG THAT CATCH ME IS SO SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET CATCH ME CATCH ME CATCH ME LOVE IT

  • THIS GUY IS SO FUCKNG SICK HE'S LIKE AIDS ON STAGE

  • God damn, what he's doing is mind blowing. I can do most of main part, but that variations he make later... insane.

  • @talarum8

I know right xD I'm constantly singing this, sort of... Annoying everybody around me because it sounds like crap, but then I come back to this vid to get reminded that it doesn't matter, just gotta keep on singin'

  • VOCAL CHORD!!!!!!

  • Man that crowd behind him SUCKS. I'd be moving all over the place to his singing!

  • @KappaEffect It's Canada, seems like they respond very differently when it comes to live music. 'Nother example of this is the Stevie Ray Vaughan & Double Trouble: Live at the El Mocambo DVD. The El Mocambo is a live concert venue in Toronto that Stevie & Double Trouble ROCKED back in '83, but whenever the camera pans around to the venue patrons during a song, they're mainly just sitting there, very rarely making a show of their enjoyment. But once a song's over, they go freaking nuts.

  • @FredSmithRoad Hey I'm Canadian, we're not weird or something. It just seems like those kids should be moving or something. I know the audience I was in was going nuts.

  • @KappaEffect It's the choir.

  • unless hes singing perfect sine waves, it is a chord. You could even consider a normal note of a singer's voice to be considered a chord if you break the timbre down into frequencies

  • two notes: harmony 3 notes: cord

  • @huggylove1 nop, he didnt sing a chord cause a cord need to have 3 notes to b called so... he sang 2 ... BUT IT STILL FREAKING AMAZING!!! :D

  • @victorthegroover Wrong, it's still a chord.

  • @victorthegroover a chord can have 2 notes. it's the 3rd note that makes it a "triad", not a chord. a root and a fift is a chord, along with a root and a third. a root a third and a fifth is a triad.

  • @dezrax well, no to me n not to a lot of ppl. To me is a interval. harmony... is an endless dicussion. Yes, in rock (mastly) ppl call it chord.

  • @victorthegroover A chord is a chord no matter what style you're playing. 2 notes is still a chord. Chord =/= triad.

  • @tprimex2000 2 notes aren't a chord. At least three notest are needed. 2 notes are called interval.

  • @crashwr A chord in music is any set of notes that is heard as if sounding simultaneously. These need not actually be played together: arpeggios and broken chords may for many practical and theoretical purposes be understood as chords.

  • @crashwr "A chord in music is any set of notes that is heard as if sounding simultaneously."

All of you need to stop trying to prove that you are pretentious music douches and realize how amazing this guy is

  • 7 people just got cought :D

  • chuck norris can suck this guys dick!

  • HOW THE HECK DOES HE DO TO CHORD??? SOMEONE HELP ME OUT WITH THIS!

  • genious

  • he doesnt sing he,s playing his chrods, it is fantastic!

  • he's a special artists thats for sure :)

  • have you tried slapping your chest like Mr. McFerrin? after a minute... IT FUCKING HURTS!!! :D:D:D

  • @TheFrankoJanko try not slapping too hard, instead try altering your hand's form so it hits your chest all at the same time - it makes the slap more definite and louder to hear.. =)

  • how can you not like this?

what kind of demons are you?

  • The echo was the best part! This guy is amazing!!!

  • awesome sauce all over his body....

  • no chords. Just an octave

  • @Zarrinkoub :

Actually he did BOTH - starting with an octave, then going with overtones (= harmonics, amplified through resonance in the mouth cavity - very demanding technique) :-)

  • @Zarrinkoub - nah, definitely a chord at the end.

  • I found this yesterday and I've watched a billion times ever since.

He is so incredible, i wish i could do that. It was stuck in my brain and i tried to sing it but its so complicated that i couldn't do it :-P

  • @EliseeMusic You and Me both I almost got it ! It going to Take alot of Practice !!!!!

  • this guy is freaking amazing!!! i love the freaking chords!!! i love multiphonics!!! Bobby Mcferrin i salute you.

  • MULTI FREAKING PHONICS.

  • Just to comment on what I said below....We went up to Fish Creek just for a 3 day weekend get away. Hit the sights, the bars, the restuarants, the lake etc. We see that Bobby McFerrin is playing at the nice theatre right there and we thought what the heck.....something to do--isn't he the Don't worry be happy guy?? In other words--I was clueless!!!!!

Pure Luck and the right place at the right time.............

  • This does bring audiences together. Feeling great about life exiting this show.

I saw Bobby in 1999 in Fish Creek, Door County Wisconsin of all places. One of the best performances I've ever seen. I'll never forget he finished the show with Amazing Grace, everyone was crying their eyes out!!!! The friend that accompanied me said the same thing, she would never forget that experience ever.............................

  • *as stewie griffen* COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!

  • instead of going to church and political rallies pppl should gather for shit like this!

  • yeah he just did a ¤!(#)! chord... that's Bobby McFerrin for ya...

  • @huggylove1~it's called "overtone" singing and monks do it in Mongolia quite often.

  • @flowerdove2168 I'm pretty sure that's not the "tuvan throat singing" technique you're referring to. I know what you're talking about, but this is definitely something different. Overtones sound more like whistles, almost like the ring of a bell. He was definitely using his voice box for both pitches. I'm pretty sure Buddhist monks were doing that for a while though, in some of their mantras.

That's my theory, at least. I could easily be wrong. Peace

  • Wow, that is just insane o_0

  • Gonna get in my car

Drive away, Driving so far knowone's gonna find me

My foot on the gas, Accelerate driving so fast knowone's gonna catch me.

  • @TheXiGamersss

    Gonna Get In My Car...

    Drive Away...

    Drive So Far...

    No one's gonna find me...

Put my foot on the gas...

    Accelerate...

    I drive so fast..

    No one's gonna catch me...

  • @talarum8 Lol thanks

  • @talarum8 coooooooooooollllllllllll

  • THIS MAN IS GORGEOUS FOR HIS AGE!!!!AND SOOOOO GIFTED HE IS A GENIUS!!!

  • That's Really Gr8 :)

  • Dub FX and Beardyman are wearing Bobby McFerrin underwears!

  • As of this posting, we can confirm that there are (at least) 7 very stupid people in the world.....the ones that dislike this video. Bobby McFerrin is a singular talent, and I believe that I shall never see his equal in my lifetime! BRILLIANT!

  • omfg, I heard this guy on NPR like a year ago and have been wondering who it was. I was like, he is doing the bass and treble with his voice!? Holy shit! This is definately him. Nice!

  • I love how his feet are moving =D

  • Much more musical in this performance than even is his CD recording

  • did he just sing a fucking chord!

  • @huggylove1 Yeah, I can too. You buzz your lips to create one tone, and your voice to create another. Took me months to master. Totally worth it :)

  • @huggylove1 Bobby would not approve of this language. But yes, he did. He sang a full triad after singing some thirds and stuff throughout. Word.

  • @huggylove1 Yessssssssss.....a major third to be exact!!!.....still trying to figure it out!!!!!!!

  • @mozart77 He's buzzing the root of the chord with his lips (think brass players, i.e. trumpet, trombone, etc.) and vocalizing the major third above it. He's pretty much flawless at it. It's also how he gets that thick "octave" sound at 2:04 during the two phrases ahead of the major third phrase, buzzing the root and vocalizing the root one octave up. Flippin' genius.

  • @mozart77 He whistled while creating a sound.

  • @huggylove1 It's called multiphonic singing, and it's not all that hard to do just a cord, but manipulating the pitch like he does is a bit harder...

  • @hereticnasom "a bit" i wanna see you do that. a bit, man whatever

  • @huggylove1 Yeah he's capable of multi-phonic singing. Which is effing awesome :D

  • @huggylove1 MULTIPHONICS FTW!

  • @huggylove1 No , but very close to it :)

  • I never heard something like this!!! For me he is a legend

  • I demand that all of you watching this show this video to a friend of yours who doesn't know music. THIS takes talent. The man is doing Harmony - WITH HIMSELF!!!!!

  • El instrumento....)

  • he harmonised WITH HIS THROAT!!!!

the rarest and most amazing talent of all time and bobby mcferrin the most natural antidepressant possess it!!! truly a great

  • How is that even possible....

  • I love the way at about 2:38 when everyones clapping him he puts his hand up to thank everyone xD i dunno why i love it, its just do.

  • MUY BUEN VIDEO LOCOOO ^^

  • how can the crowd just stand still.. i dont get it .. best performance ever

  • wow...

  • Anyone know the DVD or performance venue? This is amazing!!!

  • Cool! My teacher just showed him to me this morning. Genius!

  • The seven people who dislike this can go to hell!

  • @PickinNgrinin lol Rite on!

  • @PickinNgrinin I think so.

    I love this song

  • @PickinNgrinin Damn dude after seen your coment i pressed the like button in a second! xD

  • @DjMadTrack Haha. Thanks man.

  • look at his fingers on the microphone..its like hes playin notes on the microphone its amazing to watch

  • HOLY CRAP!!!!!!! Legend!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Take that, Mrs Grade four music teacher who said that it was absolutely impossible to sing two notes at the same time!!!

  • @daisycorgi for your information, and for your teacher as well: One style of singing very pouplar among Mongolian traditional musicians is called 'Tuva' or throat singing. With that you can get up to 3 layers if tone off one voice: the throat vibrates between two notes back and forth in a very fast matter, sounding like one dual-voice, and then the overtone laid above that. (if we eant to be exact, there is a second overtone layer, totaling in four tones off one voice.)

    Take THAT ;)

  • @CeronDerBarde but he's not using that technique though. it would sound totally different if he was. and usually the higher tones that come from throat singing tend to sound more like wistling, and less like lips pressed tightly together. but yes, i hate how teachers try and tell kids that multiple tones are impossible when they clearly are.

  • @hanenburgB yup, you're right, he's not using Tuva. Just wanted to get rid of that misinformation ;)

  • @hanenburgB Yup, he's not using Tuva, i think its a kind of technique you use when playing the didgeridoo..

  • he is a lege

  • honestly it bring a tear to my eyes. Thanks Bobby for this :)

  • This is one of the most awesome incredible, mindblowing performance i've ever seen and heard. Truelly...this is byblical....

bobby is amazing. RESPECT from Hungary.

  • It just doesn't sound like one single guy! It sounds like a quartet or maybe even a quintet, but when you watch the video... simply amazing!

  • He is the only person who I can honestly say makes Frank Sinatra look like Miley Cyrus.

  • @Ilikekittycats123 I wouldn't go that far...They are both exceptional rare talents in their own rights. both have pp.

  • @readygo242

I suppose so. But, do you ever see Sinatra singing unaccompanied?

Come to think of it, he is like the opposite of Miley Cyrus: Capable of doing things live that most people can only do in the studio; Miley Cyrus is incapable of doing things in the studio that most people can do live.

  • @Ilikekittycats123 I wasn't even referring to Miley Cyrus. She is the worst piece of shit musician I've ever heard lol. I said Bobby McFerrin and Frank both have/had perfect pitch the ability to recognize pitches without reference

  • amazing classic

  • the original auto-tune, formerly known as talent and practice.

  • The more I listen to this, the more amazing it is!

  • UNREAL!! VERY COOL!!!

  • *speechless* Bobby is the man...him and his four octaves...

  • OMG! How the hell did he do that chord at the end! That was awesome!

  • a chord? holy shit!!

  • this is the best thing.. i have ever seen

  • I am feeling this

  • This = Amazing.

  • thats one slick muther

  • Wish the idiot crowd would whoop all the time.

  • Unbelievable I'm just totally blown away by this guys talent , I've spent the last hour or so just watching his clips. This by far is the best live version i have seen of this so far

  • Unequaled vocal control and excellence :), without ever losing his sense of humour. That's class! I wonder though how callused his chest is from all the years of slapping. :)

  • how does this only have 157,644 views and lady gaga's bad romance have over 180 million?? that is the question

  • @dantheman1028 make that 195 million :P and its because most kids today are lemmings and listen to whatever their friends listen to.

  • @quasar953 ikr

  • 2:21 What the f...

  • 2:04

    How in the...

  • Wow! he just harmonized with himself... That is amazing!

  • 55/5

    audince.. no comments.

  • Such a terrible audience, real shame.

  • @Iliketogodumb Actually, he prefers if his audience remains silent while he performs. It's hard to hear yourself singing with constant clapping, especially with the particular (amazing) stuff he's doing.

  • this is fucking mindblowing, dear god

  • 2:21 !!!!

  • wow, amazing! I like how he fiddles his fingers on the mic as if that controls the changes in his voice...like you would a sax or something, almost like he's visualizing at the same time, cool...:)

  • @Fatimahrican because I imagine that is exactly what he's doing. He's visualizing what he's playing. Pure creativity on display.

  • so sick

  • so awsome!!

  • Very creative guy! :) Nice entertainment :)

  • This guy makes my day every time I see a video from his Montreal concert. Frankly, his involvement in the performance is so grabbing... get a copy of it on DVD (its like 15$), you will not regret it, trust me on this one! :-)

  • i live in a great time! I love each day that i spent here!

    GOD!? TNX !! ))))

  • During this whole vid...you been looking at the outfit ?

  • Do you wanna spend forty minutes slapping through a three-piece suit for your percussion? It's part of his image.

  • it's just amazing!

  • I would enjoy, if he as made a song with MIchael Jackson! xDDDD

  • so amazing

  • Thatz AMAziNg !!!!! like 4 reall

  • 2:18, how the hell does he manage to sing a harmony with himself? thats insane

  • I think its similar to throat singing where you position your mouth and tongue to produce a harmonic resonance above the note you're singing. I'm not totally certain on the science of it, but its a technique that Mongolian heardsmen use as well certain tribes of arctic indigenous peoples.

  • Good guess! But not quite. To produce those throat singing overtones, you need an "o" or "ü" vowel resonance. What B.McF. is doing here is buzzing his lips like a trumpet player to produce one pitch while singing an interval above with his voice (e.g. the 8va at the outset or the 17th above at the end).

    Peace!

  • It musta' took soom stomach work, and some amazing lungs!!!

  • @narvy1130 Yes,we CAN!! xD

  • AMAZING, i'm more and more convinced that bobby is sort of a voice god or something x) i realy enjoy to ear him (and two diferent notes at the same time !? shit!!!)

  • simplemente hermoso!

  • FWIW, I honestly think he's one of the absolute most talented people in the world.
