  • 押すじゃねいよ、てめえを殺せー

    is this better xD ?>

  • repeat that 100 times. lol good idea~!

  • tamago double mac=wish i was in japan between 8.10 and 9.3

i couldn't read James' caption with the glare from the train's light

do you know/remember what it says?

  • Baha the wig at the end.. :D You pull it off well, awesome video too ~ Thanks!!

  • I always get confused with the "~janai" pattern:

coz sometimes it would be like a question or it could be -ve

eg: "ii janai/janeyo" here does it mean "not good" or "isn't it good?"

    I'm i making any sense?

  • You look fabulously stunning in the wig.

    great lesson

  • who the hell is james the mcdonalds guy is that like jared from subway?

  • Great Vid! Love it! Your vids are always so practical (useful)! Keep rockin' Victor!

  • really nice lesson, I like it!

  • I thought it'd be 押すんじゃないよ or 押すんじゃないで??

  • Yes, on the first one. Isn't that what I wrote?

And no on the second one.

    The negative would be

    押さないで!

  • thank you!

well I wrote じゃない and in your video ( 3:04 ) you write じゃねい, but you wrote it several times so I suppose it's correct

  • I wrote both. Both versions exist. JANEI is more slangy.

  • But I never wrote

    押すんじゃないで

    Right?

  • This lesson was brilliant, def gotta do more of these, really handy, 5 stars!

  • i like this style of videos. thanks for putting the subtitles in japanese as well romanji and the -njanaiyo pattern at the end.

  • Thanks for the feedback!

  • I liked it. Short and very educational. Culture tips, grammer, and vocabulary. Ii desu yo.

  • I really like this style of video! It was fun =]

  • Great lesson. Definately one of my favorites so far.

I have a question, in Japan if you're a woman and some pervert is harassing you in a train, how should you react? I mean, here in Brazil all it would take was for the woman to yell "pervert" and he would be kicked out of the train in the next station.

  • Shikata nai?!

  • Give us some more verbal defense phrases, so I can cancel my Judo lessons.

  • Love the style of this vid... has a rich amount of grammar/vocab that I can refer back to this video for reference.

  • I love you, maaaaaaaan.

    The best lessons you Youuchoooob.

  • おすんじゃねいよ。。。

I'll have to memorize that for the morons at the mall. lol

  • was that a wig at the end or was your hair really that long at one point O.o

  • @draggt03

If that was real, he REEEAAALLY needed personal grooming advice. lol

  • Hehe. I prefer physical defens, though. That's a language everyone understands. :3

  • Haahahahahaa.

  • If that doesn't work you could always turn around and yell "stop touching my butt" or "I don't care that you are wearing a thong."

    or.....

  • That's funny advice, but you know what, I'll bet it would also be effective XD. Good comment.

  • wohoho...i like it when u add up english subtitle for each point he saying. And Vic, i keep wanted to ask u this long time ago, actually. Where did u get or who create yr gimmeabreakman theme song??sounds cool everytime u do the intro !!

  • The one in this video is by BetamaxDC.

The rock one on the Gimmeabreakman channel is by Burnvictim77

and the guitar one is by Mysteryguitarman

  • I think the lesson needs more spoken Japanese. It's great having the Japanese subs but there is all this distracting English blather coming from the vblogger.

  • this wasnt suppose to be a lesson originally, victor wanted my rant vlog and elevencolors video to edit into a lesson.

  • Atomicboyx is right, CandianInJapan. Originally I was only going to teach the JANEIYO at the end... but while editing I thought it would be useful to teach some of the simple (and not so simple) things that Gregorio/Atomicboyx was saying.

But in the future I can't see why I couldn't use someone's Japanese vlog too!

  • Now I still think Mr. James looks like BusanKevin.

  • that was very good for me! i liked the translating of his sentences as he went, so it was like learning real live conversation.... kind of.... lol

  • "Step back, son" in English won't work? Isn't it tone that conveys emotion the most in our daily encounters with strangers, regardless of language?

And that wig at the end.... lol

  • actually i said, WHAT THE FUCK, but that wasnt in this edited version, its in the original rant vlog

  • Yeah! Check the links, watcher8o! Gregorio's original rant was a great rant. (I'm one of the few people who thinks a rant can be artistic).

  • Osunnjaneiyo!

  • I liked that lesson... it's pretty useful. I have to watch it a few times to get everything and read the subtitles.. but it's all good.

  • If there is room step aside and let him fall over....but if the train is really packed solid, saying that will just make you look like the bad gaijin. rather than have him elbow you in the back, swivel around and see if he has the nerve to do it to your chest....and then say 何やってんの? (naniyattenno?) = WTF are you doing? Complaining of being pushed on a crowded train won't win you any support on a packed train but having him explain what the F he is doing may be better....

  • Good advice James.

  • i like that he didnt snap.... i wouldve but im a scene....

  • Yeah, I probably would've snapped or taken him outside at the next stop.

  • are we just a couple of uncultered ruffians.... i knew their was a reason i liked you!!!!

  • This nomihoudai place must be heaven!!

i will never forget the word nomihoudai in my life.

  • @studyingjapanese hahah me too!

  • 4:09 Busan Kevin detected!!11

  • I tryed to use this on my wife when she pushed past me a couple of weeks ago & she cracked up. I mispronounced it & said, "I'm not a middle aged man" lol

  • おやじ!

  • ossan

  • elbow, elbow and I would whip around and say:

    Hey BAKA ! (stupid)

ACHI KAERE (go away) AHONDARA (dumb ass) !!!!!!

    Yeah!

  • Hey dude, was that wig from the Nagoya いわゆるpractical joke?

  • That's my real hair, man!

  • LOL. That was really funny at parts, yet surprisingly helpful.

    押すんじゃねいよ (Osunjaneiyo)

that seems like a pretty rude thing to say, but of course sometimes that's necessary.

Is there a way to say "Don't push me." in a more polite manner while still getting the person too back up?

  • ひと押しするってください。

Or some thing like that. I think I conjugated する into て form wrong.

  • 押す

    押して

  • would ひと押しないください also be acceptable?

  • I would say:

    人を押さないでください。

    OK?

  • thanks Vic. That makes sense,

  • Still want to do a music lesson?

  • Oh yeah, I'm still working on it but job hunting right now is sucking much of my spare time away. Still got video from my last Tokyo trip to edit to.

  • bikdur!

  • @depointless first
