  • He looks like an adorable little popsicle when you hold him by his tail! I've had birds, and it's quite obvious he's happy as can be.

  • i have a sun conure named pheonix..i love him so much he is always with me....makes me sad to hear that leo died please tell me how he died.???. i would be devistated if i lost mine..

  • A bird in the hand is worth... he's sooo cute! I think I love Leo.

  • What an amazing bird, so adorable!!!

  • I don't like how you pick him up by his tail and wing!

  • @riacoul I know, it looks crazy, but he liked it. Sun Conures tell you when they don't like something. It's often in the form of a hospital visit.

  • @KippTheKidd I do that tail thing too. They're really ok with it. I think it's because little birds weigh so little??

  • @KippTheKidd Who goes to the hospital, the bird, or the owner?

  • @Kashlikaro The owner.

  • BIRDS FTW <3

  • I was on a chair in my living room and i put my hand up where my bird was and he came up and RUBBED HIS BUTT ON MY HAND. O___o

  • Is he your first bird? and are sun conures good first birds? Also what size cage do you have? thanks

  • @Hippiebobjim He was far from my first bird.. although Sun Conures probably are good first birds. His cage was about 3x2x2 ft, but you might want one larger - he was always out of his cage (and even outside) so it didn't really matter much.

  • @KippTheKidd Thanks

  • @Hippiebobjim I recommend parakeets as a first bird. They're smaller, less expensive, and give you a good idea of whether or not you'd like to own more, larger birds are not. They're really cute and fun but also require lots of care like any bird.

  • @DawnMM1 Thanks!!!!!!!!

  • i have a Quaker parrot that absolutely hates my family. whenever any of them come into my room he gets really angry and will mumble at them

  • Uhmm, Don't pick it up by the tail.

  • I had a sun conure once that was cuddly like this. Used to sneak inside my T-shirt and lay on its back against my stomach and say "night night". Never left me alone. My Mum sold her tho when I had to go to uni and couldnt bring any animals with me.

  • que clase de loro es?

  • Kippthekidd where did u get such an incredible bird like Leo? R.I.P Leo

  • I love your bird :) I wanna pet him ^^

Awww now I miss my parrot ..... he died of old age

  • I agree with nal2us2 . You could hurt the bird.

  • LEO! COOCHIE ATTACK!

  • I can't stop watching this video!!!

  • what the hell, are all pet parrots like this??? how does it have so much personality when it has a bird-brain?

  • @MustNotRead A lot of parrots are deadbeats. If they're hand-raised by humans, especially one-on-one with their owner (instead of a breeder), they develop some great personality.

I hand-raised Leo from 2.5 weeks. Some parrots, like the African Grey, have the same neuron density as humans, so they are incredibly smart... (and likewise, have a tendency to develop the same neurotic behaviors as humans!)

  • Comment removed

  • @KippTheKidd No offense dude, but it's not parrots who are deadbeats. It's usually the owners. Both my 17 y/o cockatiel and my 1 year old sun conure r extremely smart & very affectionate. both do amazing tricks. Neither was hand fed by me both were a year old when I got them. (I've had my sun for only 2 1/2 months & he is already doing a few tricks & we are inseparable. I feed him an organic diet, he has all natural toys & I don't take him outdoors and I do NOT bathe him in fountains.

  • @KippTheKidd Watching Bibi only confirms this. They are smart enough to ask for things they want. Bird brained is looking more and more like a compliment than an insult. However parrots and corvids have brain structures closer to human brains or so I have read. Especially regarding speech centers.

  • @MustNotRead believe it or not most parrots are much smarter then dogs despite there size of there brain they are very smart look up Alex the african grey

  • @MustNotRead haha i think animals can be very unique. I dont have any parrots but i have 4 goldfish which acts like this parrot.. it would swim around my finger and beg for food and it can hear when i come up stairs and wait at the tank.

  • @MustNotRead mine is so sweet. sadly, my cockatiel has passed, on christmas of this year, and i sought of to fing a replacement. the next day, I foulnd my little sweetie pie in a breeders place, and we fell in love.

  • @MustNotRead many pet owners dont work with their parrots to ' hand tame' them. as far as parrots go, then tend to adopt a sense of humor similar to their owners, much like dogs :-) the level of activity you spend with your pet often determines their energy levels on a daily basis. Kind of like couch potato vs athlete :D Parrots are extremely intelligent mainly due to their ability to communicate vs that of other birds.

  • @MustNotRead - don't buy into that mainstream concept of "bird brain." It should be more like :"people brain"! Birds have amazing intelligence, as does all of life if you really stop to have an open look.

Small doesn't have to equal stupid.

  • aww! at 1:35 he is an ice cream cone! what a great bond you have with him, he's so trusting and loving. great job!!!

  • how'd you get your sun conure so cuddly...

  • @tiffar00 We learned lots about hand-feeding birds, found a bird breeder, and spent lots of time with him to learn and to convince him that we could safely hand-feed a bird. He finally agreed to give us a bird that was only a couple weeks old.

When you raise a bird from that young, they're MUCH friendlier.

  • i love leo!:)

  • ahww that is mad cute!! every night before i sleep mine drinks milk then comes in my room and cuddle with me

  • @chrisjericho4eva is it safe for birds to drink milk o.o?

  • @SenyaSaysSo It's generally agreed that you should never allow your birds to have milk or anything containing lactose since they do not have the appropriate enzymes to digest it, but of course there are parrot owners that protest that their birds love cheese (just because they love it doesn't make it good for them!)

DON'T give them milk. Basically, never give them 'human' food just in case, stick with fruit, veg (SAFE ones) and parrot treats appropriate for your bird

  • my sun conures name is CLEO lol :D

  • Oh hes adorable! He really loves you.. And if anyone had ever owned a parrot knew if you picked it up and it didnt like it... you would need first aid!!! I personally haven't seen a bird so loving and tolerant like yours :)

  • My sun conure laughs then runs like that and if he can he hides behind my back! Especially when you say Bed time sunny...

  • 1:35 - I gots me an ice cream cone!

  • Comment removed

  • ah ah...hes very much like a little puppy!

  • Hes calm as can be about being picked up by his tail x3 awsome he doesnt even mind being picked up by his wing

  • u shouldnt pick him up by his wing

  • aw it's so cute it puts its leg out like stop it! i'm gonna pee my pants!

  • !! what kind of bird is that ? i wud love to have 1. its so pretty !

  • Aww he's like a little baby!! this definitely changed my perception of birds. i used to think they were aloof. but i can see he really loves you guys!

  • This is so awesome the relationship you have with your beautiful sun conure!!! He is really bonded with you!! Awesome Bird!!! I love it!!! 5*!

  • that is kind of funny!

  • after this bird being so well trained etc it's easy to see that they know wat they are doing, so wats with all the u shudnt be doin this crap

    i want one now lol

  • when my sun conure spike is being cuddly he goes into my shirt and makes a laughing noise.

  • i dont really think people try to be mean about stuff :)

they care really, in a sort of cheeky way ;3

and your right about birds. they are cheeky little buggers and would soon let you know if they didnt like what you done to them :P

  • Birds can pull maneuvers in excess of 5Gs, that's 5 times the bird's weight on its wings, during flight. When a bird gets hurt, they really let you know it.

  • @nal2us2 this is so untrue

  • Omggg. I want thisss bird!!!!!!!!!!

  • they dont really like to be pet alot but i think he likes it

  • awe my conure does this too, he's a bit more feisty though, he loves hiding inside my shirt

  • Such a cute bird!

  • Comment removed

  • You do know that when birds fly, all of their weight is on their wings? Did you know that they perform maneuvers that exceed 5Gs, meaning more than 5 times their own weight is on their wings?

Also, did you know that conures know exactly what they don't want, and are willing to draw blood to prove it? (Notice, this bird did not draw blood)

Also, did you know that this bird is free-flighted? He has all the strength, health and ability involved with outdoor flight, and can fly away if he wants?

  • ok tben sorry

  • No prob, it's all fun! Hand-raised birds are a delight, they love to play like this. They're almost like cats. Do you have any pets?

  • ya i do i used to have a green cheek conure and cokatiel but now i have 3 budgies noel blake and keeyley and 6 fish

  • but hand raised parrots easily tend to byte

  • You're misinformed.

  • No, you are misinformed Cero815.

  • @cero815 lol no mate thats parent reared :)

  • @cero815 Thats not true, they actaully tend to be nicer xD

  • @cero815 probley the exact opposite

  • Although I agree that no one knows how your bird works but you, you should take extra precautions. Holding him by his wing is one thing, and the way he put his head up was probably because he was uncomfortable with the amount of weight on it. However, that is not the worst thing. There are videos you put of of Leo eating cheese-puffs, and dairy products are not good for a bird's digestive system. Also, Leaving a bird for long lengths outside can allow him to be prey to larger animals, hawks...

  • and poisoness plants/trees that are not in a sun conure's usual habitat of South america. Such as the avacado tree- very toxic. A dog running by can easily kill him, or a cat, or a large bird (a large bird killed a small dog recently where I live).

  • How very wrong you are. We raised Leo in Clearwater; it is being overrun with wild Conures and Quaker parrots.

In addition, avocados are not "very toxic". It's a myth; some idiot fed their bird excessive, nearly exclusive, amounts of avocado and it died. The birdowner community paniced and now everyone is afraid of avocado... Not that I would give Leo any, but it's silly to think of it as poison.

Also, there is a proper amount of training that can be done regarding predators.

  • That explains why my dad fed my Indian Ringneck a small chunk of avacado and killed em. That also explains why when we went to Feather Farms they explained the toxins in the seed of the avacado transfer to the rest of the fruit while the fruit is maturing- and this causes organ failures in all birds and some other small animals. The three books conures all have a full CHAPTER on how it toxic.

A sun conure is meant to be pray in the wild Ma'am. Predetars can easily kill a domestic bird quicker.

  • Alright, I submit to the avocado argument. I still maintain that a bird who is properly trained to fly outside is a happier and healthier bird, and I discourage people from trying this with an older bird who has not grown up with the proper experience.

So I can get myself educated on this, can you point me to the 3 conure books you have that devote an entire chapter to avocado toxicity?

  • featherfarm( dot )com/store/index( dot )php?main_page=index&cPath=3_19

  • Oh cool, I have one of those. We have no avocado trees around... When we were in Florida, Leo would spend his time in a mango tree... in NY, it's in an apple tree.

It was interesting seeing the dynamic between Leo and predators. Raptors were terrifying to him; Leo would hide in a tree and refuse to fly. He was suspicious of cats and dogs, and would keep close watch, but stay high enough to not have to worry about it.

  • Crows, however, were his teachers and protectors. I did a lot of research to find this out... They will occasionally chase a conure, but won't attack. This taught Leo to be evasive and learn the bird "social manners".

Also, crows chase away predators aggressively, so Leo was safer from attack when around them. He was once chased by an osprey... and did the right thing!

Leo and I would have a conversation about the nearby birds while looking at the sky before he'd be willing to fly around.

  • O.o my rainbow lorri's afraid of crows and as i type this he's climbing up on my pants the little perv!

  • this is shit

  • lol at the end when he popped his head up when he was in ur hand he looked like a popsicle / an ice cream cone :P

  • 1) some birds do get hurt if you pick them up by there wing but leo didnt and if he didnt like it he would deff show it

    2) ive seen birds that put their ENTIRE weight on there wings so some vets actually have to lift the wings a lil bit to help them out so Leo is prob one of those birds

    3) SHES THE OWNER so wut do you ppl know wut the bird likes if your bird likes to be thrown into the air so it can fly and some random person tell you that it hurts the bird you listen to the bird of course!!!!

  • i have the same bird. Tiki is its name :D and i can pick him up and everything. the thing loves me to death so much that it hates everyone else and its only loud when i first walk in the door.

  • I have two lovebirds and they are free to fly around the house.. Never picked them up by the wings, but only you would know about your bird and if she likes it or not. It's simple if she was hating it in the video she could have simply flown away but she never did. :-)

  • this bird is alsome makes me happy

  • the bird seems to be having fun

  • I agree with Rutelia. No one else can understand how your beloved pet will respond but YOU. You didn't do anything wrong in this video. It's Not animal cruelty... that's just someones opinion... however dunce it may be. I love watching your videos. Leo makes me laugh. I've had birds for 8 years and want to get a conure. You could also disable the comments that people post on here so you don't have to deal with moronic ones, but then you also wouldn't get the good comments too like Rutelia's. =)

  • You do realize that he puts all of his weight on those wings? He doesn't fly on brain power, you know, his wings really are responsible for holding him up.

I don't get paid or anything when people watch my videos. The only reason I suggested watching them is because it might provide some insight about how Leo works, what he does and doesn't like and how he plays (this is one of the ways). But, if you want to remain ignorant, go right ahead.

  • omg, you should disable the comments on this video so you dont have to put up with the retarded comments people put! this was a lovely video!

  • Oh my God, you know animal police? You're right, you should report me. If you don't, you're a coward and an irresponsible pet owner!

  • Exactly how are you qualified to say it will break his wing? You know he carries his weight on those wings? And not just up and down slowly like this -- but with in-air maneuvers, causing stresses many times his own weight!

  • I know you won't. You'd rather keep them out of shape, in a cage. Not many birds get that Leo's kind of freedom. Look at other videos of Leo to see what I mean.

  • Dude, this person is not in any way abusing the bird. And you can tell that the bird is not in any way abused off camera either because the bird trusts this woman to pick him up like that. Also if it bothered the bird it would fuss and bite and scream.

  • You shouldn't grab a bird by it's wings or tail it hurts them

  • He is fully flighted. If it hurts him, he could fly away... although in reality, if something hurts him, he BITES. He loves this game... watch the "Leo plays with camera strap" video.

  • do not pick up a bird by the wing! that hurts the birds joints!

  • He is fully flighted. If it hurts him, he could fly away... although in reality, if something hurts him, he BITES. He loves this game... watch the "Leo plays with camera strap" video.

  • when they raise their foot like at 0:07 it usually means they don't want to be stroked at the moment. at some moments it looked like he was trying to get away from the stupid person who picked him up by his tail and his wing.

  • He started it! He flew over and began acting like a goofball. Remember, he's fully flighted -- when he's done playing, he will fly to his cage.

  • Gosh. I'd love to have one of these sun conures because they are very friendly and playful from what I've seen in videos and from other people. Sadly though I'm not willing to pay over 600 dollars for a bird that size.

  • $600 is a pet store price. Unfortunately because of the price, the birds tend to stay in the pet stores for very long times and become poorly socialized. If you do your homework you can find plenty of breeders out there who will sell you a sun conure for $300-$400. Considering that for the first few weeks after hatching, they have to be fed every two hours, I'm quite astonished that the price isn't higher.

  • He sounds and looks pissed....

  • If he was pissed, he would fly away from them. So he obviously isn't.

  • DOnt pick him up by his tail.....dummmmmmmmb

  • Why not? Does it look like it's in pain? Can you speak with animals? Is it telling you it's in pain? Hmmmm? Exactly stfu and enjoy this amazing bird.

  • I dont get it too. whats the problem? lol

  • but she picked his whole bum up so it won't really hurt him

  • I love when he rolled over haha

  • aww, makes me miss my love bird :) he was the best too, very cuddly like this!

  • Loe is way better than Tio. SShe's my Sun Conya and she's a moody madam.

  • That's a fabulous bird! :-)

  • petsmart dont take good care of their animals. theive inproved but not fore the fish and reptiles

  • I've watched most if not all of your amazing Leo clips... he was fantastic! So tame... and beautiful! As someone else posted, I'm curious how you trained him to stay close to you when outside. I've lived with various budgies from age 7 to c. 28 (I'm 45), and am amazed at the idea of any bird that's so much a part of your family that it just stays with you. He's my favorite bird on YT (my other favorite is Sven the budgie, check out "Fetch The Birdie", "Cocteau Sven" & others)

  • ok, i've GOT to get a parrot like Leo when i get money. i'm gonna start a parrot fund. leo is cute!

  • leo is the bestest bird in while intire univerce :]

  • Hands down, Leo is the best!!!!

  • does it bother him when he's picked up by his tail or wings?

    btw he's cute!

  • lol he really likes whatever is behind your butt.... or maybe he just likes it dark (the shadow)... idk... but hes really cute! :)

  • Haha! In the end he was like; WTF! Where am I !?

  • he's soooo cute =D

  • How do you train your bird to not fly away. I have a young green cheek conure that I cannot take out because it flies far away. Once, she flew to the neighbor's house and sat on his shoulder. It took me an hour to find her, She loves the outsides but if there is any noise or other birds flying by she flies away. I have only had her for three weeks so obviously she is not totally used to me. We made friends easily. But I am still unsure on what to do to train her for her outside trips.

  • is he still a live?

  • what kind of parrot was he????please somebody help me!

  • haha sounds like some kind of emergency.

    Leo was a Sun Conure.

  • Thank you!!!

  • i am envious of leo!!

  • Wow, Leo seems like such a neat friend to have.

  • lol how long are the comments on this video?^^

  • Thats the name of the breed? Do they make much noise? The only reason I don't own a bird at the moment (usually budgies) is because of the noise they make (Im in a bedsit) - Conures seem to be a little quieter - is that right or am I way off? ^_^

  • He is sooo cute! What kind of a parrot is it?

  • aw little cute Leo

  • Hah at the beginning he was so hyper he tripped right into the couch HAH!!!!!

  • Looks like he's trying to burrow in like a dog! Too cute!!

  • can they talk?

  • They can talk,but it's pretty rare

  • What kind of bird is this again?

  • a sun conure

  • a very well adjusted little conure, Nice to see!

  • When he doesn't like it, he lets you know it.

  • plus you weren't really hurting him as I saw. and he really didn't mind. He is really cool and it's so nice how he playes:)

  • Leo seemed to be enjoying the play. They don't put up with things they don't like.

  • Shut your mouth. Besides, some birds have a longer life span than dogs and cats.

  • By that logic you shouldn't get attached to anyone or anything. Nothing's permanent, that's no reason not to enjoy the temporary while it's to be enjoyed. :)

  • Thats a good point i never thought about that screw the other comment imade go leo

  • can i spam the othe comment

  • Well, she or he DID say no offence. so... non taken?

  • lololol leo is almost like a little puppy ^_^ very cute

  • ur bird is so cute but i was just wondering when i was watching this video that couldn't it break the bird's wing.... i guess it could only break it if u jerk the bird... but that would be mean

  • people have this misconception that a birds wing is extremely fragile - lifting him like that is nothing compared to the stress that's put on the wing when in flight or swooping/diving - things like that =)

  • To be honest, their wing design is intended for the pressure of flight and the stress's of it, not to be picked up by the wing vertically, with the pressure of their weight below them!

  • if i were a bird i would bite u lol

  • Oh he definitely bites when we piss him off.

But he was having fun here.

  • So this is Leo,huh? The conure you mentioned to me in the Q@A?I have seen your vids before,I thought that one with the raspberry was quite comical.I had a handtame sunny, but made a VERY stupid move by trading him for a boa constrictor that turned out to be sick:(((

  • same lol
