I am still confused about Josh's financial experience for the treasurer role. Thank you for serving in the military and state house, but this has all the makings of a career politician? I've heard he will run for US Senate now? You just got elected treasurer...
Does Ohio really need another attorney in the government? Seems to me, he is planning out a solid career political track. Just read about his jobs so far. Military=government; City Councilman=government; State Legislator=government.
Also, look into his history with AIPAC. Do we really want to risk any Ohio money being funneled to Israel? I think not.
Another problem is that there really isn't any other suitable candidate for the job. Including the incumbant.
That's an argument against Boyce, to be sure, but it doesn't say anything about Mandel's qualifications. Buying water bottles is fiscally irresponsible, but so is rolling back taxes when the state is as in the red as it is now (and services are being cut left and right).
I guess I'll have to wait for the campaign to start in earnest for an answer to my question about Mr. Mandel's qualifications. My fear is that I won't ever hear an answer, but I'm sure I'll hear lots about the water bottles.
Right, I understand that--in fact, this just underscores the point I was making: the fact that Mandel "rolled back taxes for his constituents" is not a qualification for the office of state treasurer, nor is it much of an argument for his candidacy.
What was appropriate for Lyndhurst is unlikely to be appropriate for the state (especially now, given the plethora of budgetary shortfalls). The tax rollback is wholly irrelevant to the discussion of Mandel's competence for the office he seeks.
This gentleman's military record may well be commendable, but combat experience doesn't seem very relevant when it comes to one's fitness to serve as state treasurer. I wish Mr. Mandel the best, but he might be better served making his case for office on the basis of skills appropriate to the office which he seeks.
2 combat tours, and he works in intel, shows one that he is committed, dedicated, and did you listen to the entire video? Did you miss the part that he is a state representative? Pay more attention and Ohio should vote him, to keep the disease of the left libs from spreading.
Being a state representative does not qualify one for treasurer either. I don't doubt for a moment that Mr. Mandel is committed, dedicated, or that he has tons of integrity (as the video repeatedly reminds us). I salute him for his service. But it does take more than that to succesfully manage the complex finances of an entire state. Mr. Mandel may well have the relevant qualifications, but this video doesn't mention them. I look forward to learning more as the campaign progresses.
Presumably you're referring to Kevin Boyce, who was in fact appointed, no quotation marks necessary. And of course he was appointed because the prior state treasurer beat another Republican to become attorney general. Did you expect a Democratic governor to appoint a Republican to manage the state's finances? That's a bit naive.
What finance management qualifications does Mr. Mandel possess that Mr. Boyce does not? This is the question before the voters.
