  • Horrible Workout Music, But Mitt Work Of This Nature Never Ceases To Amaze Me.

  • the fighter aint even doin the work its all the trainer...she supposed to be xstending her arms.....

  • @mykalthegreat Funny how many clowns make these types of comments and the young lady continues to beat everyone put in front of her, 3 Time Golden Glove Champion and working on going to the Olympics,, lol,, so I guess she's extending her arms as much as she needs to win, and win impressively... But yeah thanks for the comment..

  • @NextTime4U.....they just dont no boxing. if u look at mayweather when he trains he does the samething. thats where they r getting it from, cause if not than u basically saying mayweather dont extend his arms and we all no that aint true. so before u talk lil man know your boxing.

  • @NextTime4U You're the best, coach. Just ignore the clowns that obviously don't know anything about boxing.

  • @mykalthegreat its speed and reflex training you moron, different kind of pad work. you not seen mayweather doing this!

  • Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake, baker's man.

    Bake me a cake as fast as you can;

Pat it and prick it and mark it with B,

Put it in the oven for baby and me.

Patty cake, patty cake, baker's man.

    Bake me a cake as fast as you can;

    Roll it up, roll it up;

And throw it in a pan!

Patty cake, patty cake, baker's man.

  • haha i rather get training from the real guy, roger, than some guy in his basement.

  • @dennisrayso Haha, yeah Clown, I'm pretty confident from the comment that Roger probably would'nt waste his time with you and neither would the guy in his basement.. Go play on someone else's youtube page...

  • Wow.. How can I learn to do this?

  • So it's somewhat like what we do in chi Sao. Ok good stuff

  • Question and no disrespect but it seems as though this "mayweather method" is the standard for mitt work these days. What exactly is the purpose for this method? I can't see a heavyweight at 240 plus doing this effectively or maybe I'm wrong. I'm a martial artist and what I find when I sparr with boxers who do this can't really punch and easy to hit. Not saying anything towards your champ. Just a question, coach.

  • @wingchundragon Non taken my brother,, this system of training develops reflex, speed and the ability to counter and attack in combination.. Technique is key with this system, its not about punching the mitts hard because the reality is that no matter how hard to hit the mitts, if your not a "Puncher" it doesnt matter. Punchers are born not made, but with this system I can show a fighter how to punch in the technically proper fashion so that they can throw a hard punch without much effort...

  • @wingchundragon its all about "Skill in technique" which I develop in "Perpetual Motion", and I have never had a pro or amateur , boxer or mma fighter be accused of not being able to punch hard when in a bout or in sparring.. I have worked with a number of talented heavyweights (265+) and have been able to develop there speed and countering in a fraction of the time it would take with traditional padwork.. Thanks for your comment..

  • I just processed payment for Basic Dvd through PayPal via your website/ - When should I look out for delivery? Cheers

  • Coach you can really work the mitts.....but you know in the goldengloves....if there isn't a fighter in her weight class she gets a walkover and wins automaticlly....who are you kidding.....itz not the fact that shes not good....its the fact that you letn her be lazy....n....her workout.....and you are setting her up for a fall....i don't care what you do stop b-sing.....you are getting more of a workout than she is.......period....trophys.....belts.....don't mean anything unless earned!!!!

  • @Gpopi65 Thanks for the compliment, but everything in life is earned if your working hard to achieve it. She has earned everything in this game through hard work, dedication heart and skill to match. There is nothing lazy about the way she trains my dude, and last time I checked they dont just give out belts and trophys, ya got's to earn em and that's why she's got them... I 'm sure you can find someone else on youtube to debate with about the GG's just giving out belts and trophys, lol thanks,,

  • It almost sounds like a song :)

  • OOOW its a girl!!!

  • I thought these were called "Tap Drills"

  • Same principles of speed, timing, precision and technique apply in the traditional martial arts. We know that well timed, sharp and precise side kick from a smaller person is more effective in hurting someone than a loose and crude technique from a bigger person. Punching is also about timing and often a well timed punch can hurt more than a big swinging haymaker.

You just need to have some brains and educate yourself to realize this elementary principle!

  • DAMN!!!! i be lucky if i hit the pad five times in a row XD But of course im a 190 lb behemoth so im a slow motherfricker, and im a grappler anyway. What is the frickin secret?

  • First, I used to box and now I coach. People just do not understand and appreciate the science. It's timing, reaction, countering and calculating your next 5 moves, it's a thought process. It's chess, and in a game of chess you have multiple tools and weapons to use as offense and defense. In defense of Coach Rick, this is an invaluable tool to teach your fighters reaction skills, timing and its a hell of a cardio workout. Great job.

  • hey coach rick keep up the good work man! im a boxer too, i do the same kind of mittwork but damn you guys are at the top of this thing lol La Chica Mala is BAD! keep it up man im a fan, God Bless

  • okay so this shows a high level of skill in reaction, but I dont see how her not putting force into each punch is going to get her anyway in the ring. sure she'll be able to react quickly, but will she be able to apply force in her punches with that same reaction speed? I didn't see her using proper technique with most of the strikes. I'm not trying to be an asshole I just dont see the point and would like to know what exactly this is supposed to help improve.

  • @mawkheaf Not only does it work for a fighter in the ring, it has won her 3 Golden Glove, State and Regional Titles and it is all about technique. Most people who make these type of comments simply cant do what they see, so of course making negative comments is the resort,, any exp. coach or fighter knows that punchers are born, hitting pads hard wont make you a hard puncher.. Its skill in technique that can show any fighter how to "throw a hard punch", proper technique in repetition.. Thanks

  • @NextTime4U so is it fair to say that throwing a perfect punch in terms of technique hard vs soft will make you a harder puncher? i think thats what the socalled haters are trying to convey, idk? i tend to agree that mitts will hone timing cardio etc. heavy bag would buil power.or mitts could by the above logic. throw a correct punch hard wiil make mor powerful than throwing a correct punch not hard.ala freddy roach pac man?

  • @mawkheaf

What this does is it creates "muscle memory" and mental instinct so the fighter moves and reacts immediately on instinct..power comes when you need it..but this kind of "instinct" and the abiltiy to effortlessly react can be improved to the point of the body just flowing at the speed of thought..and that is a beautiful thing..

  • Coach Rick is a genius in his own right! I have been around a long time ..bro this is what I call something you will never learn if you are not gifted! Thank you for being who you are, I love using your techniques!

  • that's amazing to watch. awesome rhythm.

  • I always have had great footwork in orthodox and southpaw and a very heavy right hand. My stamina has been average but I can push further than others with better conditioning by will alone. It is so hard to train reflexes though. They come more slowly.

I have always boxed for fun but never considered training for competition. For some (not all) turning your passion into a career is a blessing. For me, it would be like turning my passion into a job and I couldn't find as much joy in it.

  • Ima fan of this video and of the many others that are out there of you training you boxing athletes. But I have a question, I do focus mitts with ppl but never find anyone to do it for me, working on getting a heavy bag but in the meantime I use my gloves and box the wall. Is that in any way helping my skill and strengthening the punches?

  • sir I find your videos helpful. Im pinoy and root for pacman all the way but as a boxing fan i appreciate mayweather's style of elusive fighting. People who find the style boring have limited appreciation for boxing. Im starting to incorporate floyd's style in my fight game. Thank you sir! Love from the philipine islands!!!

  • yea man this awesome pad work.. reaction time speed work and head movement and foot wo0rk..nice..

  • this is some beautiful stuff. coach rick, where did you learn philly shell? i'm just curious, because it's so damn rare to see this around where i live in jersey. thanks and great work.

  • can you make some vids about footwork manouvres things like that because theire arent much vids about it THANKS.

  • it took me 2 weeks to learn this and is a stamina builder

  • Ok that's goods. Now that you have mastered Floyd's mittwork, you need to learn next how to duck. Floyd's style.

  • what is the female boxer name?

  • How long did it take you to learn these pad works?

  • i would like to order this mit work! how do i order what do i do??

  • Thats pretty good!

    !

  • Question:

Why does the student only punch partially? Why no full extension on the punches?

  • @dragonfist25 I think it's about building reflexes and working your nervous system.

  • @mikecee907

Thanks. I got a smoker fight coming up in a month. I REALLY want to try this before then.

  • thats verygood

  • damm this is realy nice

  • hey coach rick do you have any heavy bag advice i'm not in a boxing gym(well used to be) and i would like some advice of footwork, hands all that by the way mad props to the lady with the speed i guess her man won't mess with her lol

  • @vinnyshoreman When exactly did you place your order and what is the name on the order,, get that to me and I will have my assistant check the status,, we ship hundreds of my DVDs over to the UK and never had a problem with shipping and arrivals.. So get back to me asap and let me know,, thanks,, Coach Rick

  • @NextTime4U

Hey coach Rick. I've seen about five of your videos on Youtube--great work.

I'm in Thailand training muay thai. Are you still doing training non-pros in Jersey? If so, I might have to make my way over there. Thanks again for the videos, some of the best I've seen on boxing.

  • ok hand speed timeing bla bla blaa ..ide love to fight someone whos doin that

  • That's good work there. No wonder Mayweather is champ...

  • extend ur arms

  • Great training Coach, Dont listen to these clowns they don't know the sport.

  • @Bfjoll , LOL, Thanks my brother, yeah the young lady in the video is now a (3) Time 119lb Golden Gloves Champion, so I really don't pay any attention to uneducated haters, because its like you said they don't know the sport at all... Thanks again my brother for the comments,, Coach Rick

  • @Bfjoll Most people dont know shit about boxing.....Good job on the mits:)

  • She follows instructions well, does she have ring experience?

  • This is just the training for the eye and timing, wich is great. it doesnt however train youre punhcing as many belive.

  • @connymat Its not "just" for timing..

  • @702decatur Thats what i said! Training the eye.

  • Hey coach Rick. Loving the videos. Just ordered your basic technical mittwork DVD and am expecting it in the next couple days. Can't wait. Hope to train with you one day. Keep it up. Much love from north jersey.

    - chas

  • shit!

  • Much Love Coach Rick! I got your response im just posting back to let you know its good to see that your a stand up dood like you come across in your dvds!

I cant stop thinkin about holdin mitts!

  • wats up coach rick!!! I ordered your dvds abt a month ago and am gettin proficient with this style of mitts..man its nice!!! every1 loves it..my 2nd dvd didnt work tho...it cuts out at the Guzmon technique..ima order tha advanced soon...Great work man keep it up!!!

  • This is very useful training. I'm a fencer and we use patterns like these to develop fast reflexes. This also develops very fast eyes. You will see things long before it is too late to react.

  • bearly movein your arms!!!!! its all no good. whos going to throw short punches all the time.

  • is this all reactionary or is it a fixed choregraphy?

if its all reactionary this is really awesome

  • a combination of both-

the student learns the initial counterpunches and then the instructor throws that sequence of punches-

i'm learning it right now, and its flashy

  • @nekftw it's learnt as a choreography, than practiced over and over so the movements become natural you can do them with out thinking developing your skill, counter punching ability, combination punching, speed, timing and reaction time.

  • very nice and fast work. great !!!

  • ay mane this is nice work,im actually tryin to get on this level bro, i been watchin mayweather since i was 6, im a beginning amateur from Dallas fighting owt of denton...shit u got any advice for ya boy

  • very nice, i do mitt work, but its not like that. most commenting have never done mitt work so they're ignorant on the subject. its very hard to keep focused and not get confused at all or lose track. also thats what boxing is, repeat everything over and over and over until its natural and smooth under all angles and situations. very impressive. keep up the good work girl, idk why people are talkin shit

  • Boxing training is rehearsed repetition,, CLOWN...

  • @NextTime4U truly is a clown, I do not understand people think Becausethe Without knowledge, you're a good coach because you can tell that you spend time with your students ...

  • Actually it is Extremely effective and has developed all of my amateur boxers into Golden gloves Champions and my pro fighters are all undefeated as a result of this type of technical mittwork,,, as regards to Freddy Roach he Is a Great trainer,,I have learned a lot from his work and I have a lot of respect for his technical skills as well,, He has developed into a very solid technical & tactical trainer...

  • alright for a warmuup...but its giving the padman more of a workout lol

  • It's high school musical to me!! lol

  • Mayweather does it faster guess its because she is still young and mayweather is a master

  • is that a girl hitting the pads it looks like a girl??

  • mann,,dont use that mayweather techniqe girl.end up running away during the fight.juz use pacqiao's technique power, speed, footwork and dosnt run away

  • well see, when pacman and mayweather face up-

mayweather style is knocked ricky hatton out...

and its what kept mayweather un defeated

  • looks cool ,but can she fight?

  • Yes Sir,, 2009 (119lb) Eastern Regional Golden Gloves Champion, 2009 Philadelphia Golden Gloves Champion and sparring partner for a number of pro female fighters,,,,yeah she's got skills...

  • like a kata in karate... nice

  • Man my trainer never tells me what to throw he just puts the mits up and if i dont throw what he wants he smacks at me. thats timing training.

  • lol what a waste of time. I wouldn't promote this crap as 'teaching'.

  • Yeah, is she supposed to just tap it? Never heard of this exercise. Find it interesting though.

  • Question in regards to speed training: Wouldn't you want to always use proper form, full extension of your various punches like uppers, crosses, full rotations, etc... maybe even a bit more power? (Btw... I'm a Muay-thai/BJJ practitioner).

  • Thats a Great question and to answer, yes and no, yes if the fighter is a novice, but for an experienced fighter who knows how to punch properly, when I do reflex and timing training I am looking for fluidity of movement and speed of reflex, full extension will come after these are developed... Thanks Coach Rick

  • Im curious to this style of mitt work my trainer tends to tell us only when to throw jabs and everything else is supposed to flow in motion with your boxing rhythm. So do you find it better for a boxer to use music to make a rhythm during training or learn to use a self conjured rhythem like you would in a boxing match. just so you can change it up.

  • wrestling bjj tae kwon do and kickboxing great mix

  • Yes it would be if I had the time - I just train for fitness and a bit of competition. I seem to move fast and harder when punches and kicks are flying at my face - Go figure. ;)

  • agreed people follow mayweather but forget he learnt basics b4 advanced , if u see her fight she lacks it.

  • My coach is a bit different than the coach here. He emphasis technique then speed. But with power with each hit even if its 200 punches. Our coach also sets conditioning levels before he starts class.

Our class is breaks down like:

    L1 - 20 min conditioning - Basic technique

L2 - 35 min cond.- intermediate tech. but added combos - light sparring

    L3 - 1h cond. - combos, setup, speed - sparring medium

L4 - 2h cond. - then its advanced skills, fight psychology, heavy sparring.

    Great trainer.

  • It be the cats that can't hit the pads right talking all the stuff. Forget him, nice work!

  • ahhh the amateurs was fun but the pros are a different ball game....i got credentials for days but im not here to talk about that but just remeber you came to my page posting video responses....

  • lol, we all got credentials big dawg, and the bottom line is i get paid a lot of money for mine, so take it as a compliment if i posted a video response to any of your videos, cuz as my video count shows i got mad sponsors, i train world champions, and i sell dvds all over the world, i get paid bottom line, so you keep working hard as a pro and best wishes to you in the future,,,lol,,,,Coach Rick

  • the funny thing is i train with you copy....ahh well keep it up big guy hopefully one day you come by the camp i would love to see you in person....and for the record this is no internet beef, no hate in my blood "coach rick"

  • Hey at the end of the day "Its all a Hustle" and No doubt, i might be out in Vegas soon to work with a heavyweight and will be stopping to checkout Jeff Mayweather and hopefully get the chance to meet Roger, hopefully you too mann, keep training hard and wishing u much success in an out of the ring,, "Coach Rick"

  • yes sir, and i just want to make it clear because alot of people have been hitting my inbox this is not a you tube/ internet beef lol, but there is more critics on you tube than anymore ya know...ill support though, give me the info ill buy a dvd and promote back home where im from in philly
