Why oh why does no one build models anymore. The shots of the Enterprise in the Kirk films hold up so well against CGI. The battle at the end of The Undiscovered Country looks amazing.
Attention to detail is magnificent. Much better than what is encountered in big screen productions. To everyone involved: You're bang on the mark, can't wait for more.
This video is proof positive that the original ship and set designs will work on the big screen. People with any sense of taste do not like having Beer factories and High School corridors used as “futuristic back grounds”.
@CJCA915 - it is a spiraling cylinder with bumps and distortions - and a rather basic texture. Plus a shader that is more visible if the surface is facing the camera.
@tlwtobiasrichter As for the bussards dome effects on the Enterprise, are they textures, lighting effects... or what, I'm trying to perfect the bussards on the Connie I use...

The quality you guys put out now is incredible. Up there with stuff on TV easily... in some cases better (e.g. as an amazing a show as it was, the FX on Lost was extremely jarring and poor... I guess all their budget went on actors and location)
For those of you who want to see just how deep Tobias' attention to detail is, re-watch the ship scenes and you'll note entire sets, including crew moving around, inside the windows on the Enterprise...
Oh, and Tobias, much thanks for "saving us" on the quarry scenes!!! Sorry for the extra work, but it was the only angle that worked for the shots... bulldozers and all.
That Track sounds so familiar... is it from Designer SFX? VCP ?
Am sure I have used it myself for a BSG short :D

I know this is taxing on you, but how do you get the trails in the wormhole scenes to kind of have a swirly look to them, like in TMP?

Cool wormhole effect...
How did you do yours?
I did mine with a texture map, and a cylinder with noise displacement...

@CJCA915 The domes are done with an animated texture.

@tlwtobiasrichter ah, ok.
Here's mine from a while back, I may even remake this, since I switched to HD, might look even better.
