  • radier, radier, radier, reavers, ravager.... yep thats a dark eldar army all right.

  • It's too bad you don't get any sort of bonus after your third pain token, or otherwise those Incubi would have been gods. Oh well, very interesting batrep. I'm just starting Dark Eldar and these sort of videos are very educational.

  • I have an original blood angel chaplain looks like it has a bolter as his secondry weapon, is it still legal to use this model?

  • @Peanut96828 Yes it is! According to the current codex, both the Reclusiarch (high-level Chaplain) and regular Chaplain can replace their Bolt Pistol with Bolters for free. Even if it didn't say that, you could easily say it is just wielding a Bolt Pistol, and no one will give you grief for it. :)

  • @SonsofSanguinius So I could just use it as it is?

  • How to beat DE as blood angels:

    1. Use more cover. Your vehicles can make great cover.

    2. You have cheap transports. Razorbacks, particularly las-plas razorbacks are a better choice. Additonally against DE's armor saves, you might be able to do serious damage against them if you throw on free TL heavy flamers on a few of your razorbacks.

    3. Dreadnaughts with blood talons eat incubi for breakfast. Use a storm raven to turbo boost the d-naught into assault range.

  • @ZWDrix Thanks for viewing and replying!

Since that epically horrible game haha, I have learned how to deal with Dark Eldar quite effectively, and it matches your suggestions closely.

I just took 2nd in a local out here (only missed first by one point) with my current list that is 4 razors with las/plas, 2 baals, 2 auto/las preds, and a stormraven with death company, a reclusiarch, and a death company dread inside. Played Dark Eldar in the 2nd round and won 10 kill points to 5.

  • paint your dam army a hole geez

  • @fliptthescript Um, go die in a fire.

  • Hey, I feel your pain. I've got about 20k+ myself and have over 3 companies worth that are completely painted and correctly modeled. And I have a full time job and family. But, I've never done a battle report as nice as this one you have posted. So, thanks for posting, I guess.

  • What does the soultrap do?!

  • @Meridos257 If the owner of the Soultrap kills an independent character in combat, they double their strength (to a maximum of 10). So, the Archon goes from strength 3 to strength 6, then if he gets another kill in he goes from strength 6 to strength 10.

  • Dude, paint your army. Spraypaint don't count.

  • @bushwhoopi I have 15,000 points of Blood Angels (soon to be 20,000 points when I get my tax return), 7,000 points of Tyranids, 7,000 points of Chaos Daemons, and 5,000 points of Necrons. If you'd like, you can paint them for me for free. Otherwise, shut it.

  • I just think that it is a bit cheesy that units that are dedicated to assaulting like Incubi are basically given a free ride to feel no pain and higher because of the fact that they can motor 24" across the board in a transport, bail out up to 2" out the front of their transport, fleet a possible 6" and are pretty much striking first against most units out there.

I mean what other unit that is out there has a 3+ save, with fleet and 3 S4 PW attacks at WS5, I5. That's all I'm asking.

  • @Koby19841

I agree with your second point, though on your first point, you're slightly incorrect. First, they cannot disembark at all if their transport moves over 12", and second, their furthest possible assault range is a 12" move (while being transported), a 2" disembark, a 6" fleet, and a 6" charge making a grand total of 26". That's okay though, as you're still right in that they are too fast both across the board AND in hand to hand. I mean, when I can lose a combat ON THE CHARGE... yeah..

  • @SonsofSanguinius how were the other practice games

  • @brandon911111111111

I continually get my rear handed to my by the emo elves in space, though I've got a not-so-friendly list that I think will do the trick. Problem is, it's not-so-friendly...

  • @SonsofSanguinius and Koby19841

at 22 pts a mdel, with toughness 3, no grenades no ranged weapons. That 10-man squad without Archon and upgrade character costs base 280 pts, to be able to make that charge [plain raider]. They get shredded bu walkers and monstrous creatures [especially after fearless, 3 pain tokens]. They should murder any troops choice as they cost 50% more than marines without the raider and are elite.

  • @Lightman0359 They get shredded by walkers and MC's in h2h sure, but the difference is they shouldn't be in h2h with them. If you're fighting a cc against MC's and Walkers with Incubi, you're doing it wrong. Shoot the walkers/MC's before you get there with the 15+ dark lance style weapons you'll have at a minimum, and they will all disappear. Then, charge the juicy foot-slogging units. DE are ridiculous, and I am forced to resort to some nastier lists to deal with them now.

  • @SonsofSanguinius I was offering that as a counter-Incubi tactic, charge them with a dred or monster, especially if they're already in combat with one of your squads, even if the incubi win the combat, you still have an enormous wrecking ball locked with them that will kill them, theu have no grenades, nore options to get them without an Archon or Baron sarthonix with them

  • @Lightman0359 The Dark Eldar are mobile. They can avoid a dreadnought if they want most of the time.

  • @Gruntoffry but thats the trick to eliminate incubi, [especially if they already have 3 tokens...] charge an existing combat with a wrecking ball and retreat your initial unit [if you lose the combat] if fearless already, they are now stuck in combat with an undefeatable [without help] foe, and if not fearless, the dreadnaught will tear at least 2 of them in half with its dreadfists [even without the special dread ccw, you ignore feel no pain with str 6+]

  • "the Incubi have three pain tokens and the Archon has soul trapped the chaplain"

ouch, I cringed/chuckled upon hearing that line

  • @empyreanlc LOL, ya, I cringed/cried saying it. T_T

  • that blood angels army list was terrible. he may as well have used ultramarines. he didn't take advantage of any BA rules, death company would have put up a good fight against the incubi particulalry if lead by lemartes as he is Initiative 7 Strenth 5 and 5 attacks on the charge with a powere weapon so he would kill at least 2 b4 they get their attack, where were the flanking Baal preds??? and who the hell uses a land raider against eldar? or reclusiarch chaplian with jump pack and honour guard,

  • @Smegstasy As I've already stated, it's a themed list from the 3rd Battle Company of the Blood Angels, and yes, it did take advantage of several BA rules. See, what happened here is I built a fluffy, BALANCED, all-comers list, and it WASN'T tailored to my opponent. You must not be such a fun (or competent) person to play against if you tailor all of your lists to your opponents. =/

  • @SonsofSanguinius didn't realise it was a themed army, i apologise, it just appeared to me that there are so many BA only units that are incredibly fun and powerful to use that you didn't utilise, looking at your army(regardless of paint scheme) i would be hard pressed to see if it was BA or Ultramarines, i play Space wolves myself and have both fun and competitive lists at varying point values, i also have a Flesh tearer list i use for fun with 3 land raiders in 1500points,Seth & Lemartes

  • @Smegstasy No worries. Yeah, it was supposed to be a tame list, as not only had my opponent not played a game of 40k since 4th (excluding a few random pickups), but my BA lists at my LGS tend to win quite often (so I was trying to be friendly). :D

  • really starting to get annoyed with GW making IMBA rules for all the re-release armies. Makes it difficult to tackle most armys with a rounded list for any foe. With the speed and mobility of the DE atm, you could build a list that would be damn hard to beat with nearly any army.

  • @Koby19841 i think youre raging a little to much yes dark eldar are fast and they hit hard but if you blow up their cardboard bawkses (raiders) and you wont find wimpier troops

  • @brandon911111111111 that's the truth, I lost 2 raiders and a venom in one turn to Khorne berserkers in melee [it was turn 2 on a packed apocalypse game after splinter raid deep strike]

  • @Koby19841 You have to remember that Dark Eldar are a very unique army in the sense that using brute force (Like most armies can pull off) will not work. DE are also a very costly army to field if you want a balanced list. I personaly never play competitively, even in tournaments, and even my friendly lists don't field much more than a space marine army. Dark Eldar are speed and high WS. They alwaays hit first and very easely, but don't wound well.

  • @Koby19841 Footsloging around isnt going to get DE anywhere either. Did you see those warriors running about in the back? Dark Eldar are soft and squishy and WILL die if put in a bad situation (which is most). Remember, these guys arn't like IG who field a bunch of infantry, their small, very weak armies, but really pack one hell of a punch if a stratagy is used correctly. Think about a quick stratagy that doesnt cost you many troops, and troops are expensive and weak!

  • @Koby19841 Most units really need uprades, witch are expensive aswell, if you want them to their fullest extent. I play an all kabalite army. An Archon, 4 raiders and 30 Kabalite truborne and 20 Warriors, all with the bells and whistsles that they need. So you can compare my army's size to a marine player. Its pretty tough and I don't win much, but it makes those wins feel all the more gratifying ;)

  • That was inevitably gonna happen. I just read over the rules for the new DE codex and there are too many special rules and abilities for the army at just standard points costing.

I mean Incubi at 22pts a model having 3attacks each on a charge at Initiative 5 and strength 4 power weapons at WS5 is just gonna tear a SM squad to bits and after they have done that, they walk away with FnP and possibly Furious charge if they sliced up an IC in the process as well. Oh, and they have fleet now too.

  • Pointless to have 7 Pain tokens since 3 is the highest, but TROPHYS, TROPHYS, AND MORE TROPHYS!

Great game. The Eldar are pleased here.

  • @Nekage its not pointless you could take 3 tokens onto another IC/unit and join another squad.

  • @Nekage 3 is not the highest. Read the codex.

  • nice report

    those incubi tore it up

  • great Video

I like the idea of the Dark Eldar list with just what is available now. Could i get a detailed list for that Dark Eldar army. What would you do to bump it up to 2,000? Another ravenger?

    Thanks

  • Great battle! Nice seeing the new DE in action.

Personally, I'm curious to see how a more assault-heavy Blood Angel list fairs against the DE. Otherwise, as a DE player myself, i can honestly say that Blood Angel tank spam (ie lots of Baals and Razorbacks) is a scary prospect.
