RTX Skype Dualphone 3088 review - part I

hey man,

concerning the skype phone rtx 3088 dualphone, let's say my modem is directly connected to an outlet from which it gets internet and this same outlet also provides landline phone (so if i remove the modem from it and hook a regular phone it will work, DSL type outlet), if i connect the base station to that modem connected to the DSL outlet, will I have to also connect the base station to another outlet from which it will get the landline?

The phone has nothing to do with whatever Skype subscription or credit plan you are using.

Yes it will work without a landline and can just be plugged into a router for skype. Am having problems though like many others, both the ringing volume is low as is the speaker volume, both turned up to max but both still annoyingly quiet.

Does it work with "pay monthly" subscriptions? Everybody mention about credit but I have a monthly subscription with Skype so I would be very happy to know about that.

I've found out that the philips skype handsets are not compatible with pay monthly so if this one is enabled for pay monthly it will make it the best phone out there I think.

, I have had the phones in my house for 2 years , they constantly switch theirselves off and on and are very unreliable .BUT READ THIS .Last week i had an incoming call on skype it rang once and then hung up , 5 minutes later the same thing happened again , thought no more of it until i checked my email and found 3 emails from paypal saying they had topped up my credit 3 times at 23 pounds per time . within 1 hour my phone had used 69 pounds worth of credit as my skype was set to charge

MR HOWARD CHANG THE PROBLEM WAS SOLVED BY DAVECJ FROM FORUM I HAD THIS PROBLEM FOR TWO MONTH THE PROBLEM REASON WAS ,TO CLOSE PHONE TO STAND ALONE BASE, AND HAD CREATED(SIGNING IN TO SKYPE WAS NOT SUCCESSFUL) YOU HAVE TO REGISTER THE PHONE IN A DISTANCE FROM THE BASE,I DID IT 5 METER AND ITS WORK ( THE DUAL PHONE 3088 IS GOOD.( GOOD LUCK) SALEK157ABRA5404

@salekabrahamer I have the same problem with an Aztech V500DS phone. It is always giving the same error "SIGNING IN TO SKYPE WAS NOT SUCCESSFUL". What is the solution for this error?

bought one ( holland ) at: skype shop . nl, it works good, good standby, latest firmware 2009 june blabla, can call to landlines to, i have a skype accound with number. no broblem so far, 1 thing only, sometimes i the people a bit bad, but when i re-call its almost always over.

There is a manual, who no one reads, it's realy idiot proof. when you can connect a pc / modem / phone you can connect this also.

So what's the secret to buying one of these phones? You can't get them from the skype website anymore as "instoreshop" are a bunch of scam artists. I should have listened to all the negative feedback on that bunch before ordering one of these phones a month ago. I never received the phone and got a refund. I can't find a U.S. version in the U.S. So what's the secret on where to buy one???

I have this particular phone, and I have to say it has not worked well at all. Dualphone had to replace the first phone within a month because it stopped working. The replacement has to constantly be reset and reprogrammed. I'm thoroughly disappointed with the phone and Skype.

You make free skype to skype calls with this instrument. Make sure you set it up properly and not connect through PSTN by mistake.

Initially you will need to set up your device while your PC is online and you are logged in to your skype account. Yes your assumption is right. For cable modem connect the device to router and the router to modem. If you have DSL modem which almost always have router built in, some also have a 4 port switch built in. In this case connect the device to an ethernet switch and then to the dsl modem. If your modem includes a switch connect directly to it.

The customer relations of both Skype and Dualphone are APPALLING. All they are interested in is selling handsets.

After 3 weeks of being given the runaround between Skype & DualPhone over a fault that developed after 10 months, I have now given up and won't be buying anything from the Skype shop or DualPhone again.

My advice would be to avoid buying that handset and stick to one of the larger more respectable manufacturers.

Hi you talk about the good advantages of the dual phone. but it is really important to talk about the bugs too...It is impossible to change the language everytime we get the message (change language failed) another thing it is the dualphone 3088 do not display the numbers from a normal incoming call for example from a mobilephone.
