  • Oh yeah! The Cygnus, I remember now, cool design. And that movie had the coolest robot ever, I was thrilled cause he was called Vincent. Lol!

  • This sums up why I hate stupid ,glossy computer effects CG!!! This is so much better ,solid and real!! This is one of the greatest moments in sciFi movies. You have to hear and feel the rumbling of the mother ship through a good hiFi stereo with lots of bass to get the full effect of this!

  • @Thermionman1970 Spot on. Or check out the imperial fleet massing before heading to the Hoth system in Empire strikes back, much more authentic.

  • @45vincentconnolly Yes I love that seen!! Also the Nostromo in Alien and the fantastic exoskeleton ship the Cygnus in The Black Hole etc...etc...! I liked the asteroids in Empire Strikes Back, they look like rock !

  • such a powerful scene, and absolutely NO score...the visuals ( reactions ) speak for themselves..." oh my god " - indeed!

  • Still the best starship in cinema history!

  • I love this part!....LOL

  • no gods hear try history

  • come on, the shape is similar, but does it make it r2d2? i don't even see his colours...

  • I saw R2-D2 too! Sweet! Ya think that was intentional??

  • 2 people just missed the button I like.....

  • What can I say guys. This film is undoubtedly classic!!! Great & intriguing storyline, great acting and visual effects. Steven Spielberg is master. Richard Dreyfuss and Melinda Dillon did a great job as well. Our modern SCI-FI is trash compared to such classical movies like this one.

    I miss the 70s, 80s and 90s

  • lol 0:11 sec. R2D2 :P

  • good call

  • hit the pause button at the 11 second mark, and you can see R2D2 from Star Wars hanging upside down just to the left of the 3 lights...............

  • i went to the udvar hazy center today to see this thing up close what i discovered that nobody else seems to have noticed is that there is also a tie fighter on the end of one of the antennas, also there's 2 planes not 1.

  • Oh Really?. Were There Anything Or Anyone Else In That Bad Boy?.

  • Great scene, gives me the willies everytime.

  • Best spaceship scene ever...itd really scare the heck out of you to be there witnessing this massive thing coming down...

  • holy shit i saw him

  • it's a pity that there is no sequel! I want to know what happens AFTER the UFO takes off at the end...

  • if you look closely, at the 7-8 second mark, you can see R2DR hanging upsidedown, attached to the bottom of the ship. Totally hilarious that Speilberg threw that in.

  • well, lucas and speilberg nearly always refrence eachothers work. e.t for example, feature a yoda costume, starwars action figures and yodas theme thrown in by john williams, while e.t's race, Children of the Green Planet, is a part of the Star Wars expanded universe. an e.t ambassador makes a brief appeearance in either attack of the clones or revenge of the sith (not sure where)

  • Yeah e.t was like in the giant senate dome thing on one of the platforms. There were actually multiple e.t.'s.

  • @floatfloaton yeah he's really good friends with George Lucas, so He done this in a lot of his other films

  • @floatfloaton actually it wasn't speilberg who threw it in -- it was one of the effects people. per the visual effect commentary on "Resident Evil"

  • this is just a peanut, last month a pilot saw 2x mile long craft, on radar also!!!
