They are equal and were interchangeable until a certain step in the build. The dart leaves needed pins on the bottom to keep them from sliding around as the table was expanded.These pins had to line up exactly so before we veneered the leaves we placed them all in position, clamped them in place and drilled through the leaves into the sub frame. Doing it this way ensured the pins aligned perfectly with the holes, but it also made each leaf specific for its position, hence the numbers.
I am in awe of your skills, that table is beautiful. The end moment when it all came together was almost like magic. Also, I like your shirt very much. You look Hot! :)
hey, im an industrial designer and allow me to give u some constructive criticism... you have too many pieces to assemble to get to the final result. basically the reality is the consumer is lazy, reduce the steps one needs to take. otherwise, cool mechanism...
This was a custom table built to the client's specifications. There were a lot of things that I would do differently if I was building the table for myself or to mass produce, but the reality of the situation is that in custom work, the client gets exactly what the client wants and my opinion doesn't matter.
It's a cool table, but there are better designs out there. The only major problem I see with this one is storage of all the segments. Of course if you can afford one of these tables, then that probably won't be an issue.
Really neat, but why are the external pieces numbered? Shouldn't they all be equal?

i think the pie style pieces shouldve been maple and the arrow type ones shouldve been cherry or ebony or something with contrast.

@iPodOperator
Yeah, that would have been nice. The client wanted Koto to match the paneling in the room the table was going in.

too much work theres better ways to make this design
youngrelleus19 1 year ago 3
why dont you just buy a big table first day?
freewilly312 1 year ago
@freewilly312
Because the table went on a yacht where space was a premium. They wanted a unique expanding table, and they had the money to pay for this one.

It looks like you have to have certain pieces for certain sides. Almost like they can't be interchanged.
minxtamer 1 year ago
its nice but too much pieces maybe you should make those separate pieces to go under the table and come up when you need it to be bigger
smug1997 2 years ago 5
@smug1997
We wanted to do just that, but the client didn't want to do it that way.
