In regards to the title of this song, with which I emphatically agree, I recently found out from acquaintance of mine, who is a Muslim who has been to Mecca 7 times, that Muslims don't listen to music of ANY kind. No music of any kind. Think about that for a while.

@hugleberthumperdink : If you look closely at the lower manual, you will find that Billy is using the A-flat preset, no drawbars. Thats the ear of a good Hammond Organist (knowing what to look for or at). Keep making good music though.

@hugleberthumperdink - I dont know exactly the drawbar settings for that A(b) preset on the lower manual, but I would approximate it to be the first two white drawbars (your flutes) on a registration of 8-6 and then the very last white drawbar set to a registration of 2. That should duplicate that preset sound very close.

Be careful when usuing the drawbars that your black drawbars (tibia/fibias) never overpower your white drawbars - Awful Sound for Hammond organ. Hope that helps you.

Billy was a personal friend of mine befor I ever new that he was famous. He used to sinf at my church every once in a while and always hung out and had dinner afterward. He'd sing "You are so beautiful." Imagine my surprise when I found out that he wrote it! He was such a humble brother! We miss you, Brother Billy Preston!

I grew up in Memphis listening to Rev James Cleveland's late night radio broadcasts. Billy Preston was his organist then. I bought a B3 in 1968 because I loved that music. I'm still playing today and will always be grateful for the influence he had on me.. thank you for this video. BTW he had 2 albums of just him on piano and organ in the 60's

Must have been great listening to Billy playing back then. I only heard of him because I'm into Sly and the Family Stone. He apparently played on one of their albums in the 70's. I think Sly was influenced by his organ playing. I certainly am. Fantastic gospel player.

"Greatest hits of 1965' and 'my Girl and other favorites" @1967 are two instrumental albums---no singing. Organ-Piano-drums. I can't remember the gospel album names, I had them but they're lost now. He came out to see me play in 1972 in LA. I was very honored. He had that big afro wig on, but was down to earth.

Gospel music is the voice of God and not necessarily just music because suggestive music is the voice of Satan. It throws me when Oprah says "God is love and love is God." God is God, and love is an attribute of God. I can no longer assume folk mean one thing when they are saying another. They mean what they say! Gospel music (instrumental or vocal) comes from the heart of God. Lucifer knows music but is not using it as the VOICE OF GOD.  He is still in the music business though.

God is God and love is an attribute of God. The bible was not written in English Hebrew and Greek. It also says "Judas hang himself." A few verses over, it says "Go and do likewise." Is he telling you to hang youself? God is a Spirit not an emotion. Love is one of God's characteristics, for he is way more than just love. Hate is one of the devil's characteristcs. Be careful of what you say. You know exactly what it means when it says that "God is love".

Did you know that Billy Preston put out a gospel CD in about 2000 or 2001? It has several beautiful original songs, including Father Forgive Them. If anyone has this CD, could you post it? It's beautiful. I was there when he introduced this song to the LA Mass Choir. I have an audio tape of it (somewhere)! It's a beautiful song.
