I just lost my quaker parrot....my parrents hit the doors and accidently killed him...I will miss him greatly, he was like my baby. Words can't express how I feel right now. So take care of ur parrots while u have them because I couldn't take care of mine and now hes gone....i wont hear him in the morning he wont kiss me when I wake up...he loved me the most and I wasnt home when this happened. I'm so sad you guys.....I loved my little fellow :((((( Please like my status
He has wonderful feather color, you must be feeding him a pellet diet.. I feed mine Harrison's and they look amazing. I have a sweet Quaker too, he loves me to tickle under his chin. ^_^
awww...lucky...do quaker parrots generally have affectionate personalities? my friends parrot was a different species not quaker and it was fxckng mean....
aww, he's cute, My quaker parrot is still learning the idea of "affection", he still won't let me scratch his neck (only the back), but he will learn :)
I wish my quakers were sweet.I think they could fill the role of Linda Blair in the "EXORCIST".If I didn't watch their heads spin around I'd swear they were auditioning for the parrot version of thee exorcist.I'm not joking. These little bastards were my very first parrots.Thank God I had common sense not to believe all parrots are like this.I want so much to be excepted by them and also get along with my other parrots(conures,A.Grey,Teils).When they have full feathers, they R sonsofbitches !
@demmylowther you may have accidentally created a nest for your parrots that they think they have to defend. If you have a hammock in the cage, remove it. I found that my Quaker's personality completely changed once I took his nest out of his cage. It was fun to watch him obsessively build things with sticks and paper, but he turned into defensive little asshole when I got anywhere near the nest.
@lvgraham Thanx for your advice but I think the answer is the female. All my cages are open where they can fly from one cage to the next. They often will all hang out on the Grey's cage even though the female quaker hates everyone, she is not always being mean(except me,which is all the time)I really think that if I just had the male,he would get along with the rest.I guess he's trying to protect her. He's not that mean when shes not close by but he still wont step up unless he falls to the ground.
Aw, he was soooo sweet!! My quaker is the smartest, most amazing and entertaining friend, but he hasn't cared for being touched since he was about a year old :( You are very lucky!!
(For those who are interested in hearing one talk see my page)
I miss my quaker! ): I'm skeptical to get another because you're lucky to have such a sweet one. They're some of the most aggressive, butt-head birds I've ever seen, so I'm scared that I would get one that would just bite me all of the time. Hahaha. That's so cute the way he rubs on you!
birds are kinda like ppl some like lots of physical touch while others are happy just sittin next to you keeping their distance for no other reason than liking their personal space... mine has been in my hands since he was a baby and isnt afraid at all but if i dont respect his boundaries he gives me attitude
How sweeeeet. My new quaker, at 3 months old, does the same thing. It's like they are petting you. Does yours 'purr' too? Mine makes a sound that sounds like she is purring when she pets me. They are so sweet
If you are in Sydney Australia, I'll take your quaker. You probably don't treat him right, think of life from the perspective of an intelligent bird stuck in a cage.
being kind to birds never make them like you, they are different from dogs you know .. at first my bird didn't liked to be pet, but then "" accidentally -to her- I touched his head with my hand and then it was all cool with petting her.
You have quite a little beauty their. I hope you many years of happiness together. Love your bird everyday they need it more than humans. That bird will bring you joy, be patient.
and he loved kisses on his cheek and gentle massages on his neck and behind his ears. I called him "Spike" because he acts like a puppy. And he followed me EVERYWHERE. he's not dead tho, I am a travelling gypsy musician and I didn't want to put him through the stress of moving all the time so I found a really nice loving family for him. I miss him *cries* and every time I go back and visit him, he remembers me. *waaah*
quakers are so amazing, yours is so amazing!!! he's so precious!!
omg <3. my quaker used to nuzzle himself under the covers when I was reading in bed before sleeping. then he'd turn asround so that only his puffy head was poking out, and he'd cuddle up right against you and PURR, he copied it from a cat. omg. then he'd squeal quietly like a pig, and go "wee wee wee wee wee" and a number of other rediculously cute sounds. it was unreal. if i went to sleep, he'd fall asleep too (under my chin, puffed up) when im on my back so i don't squish him).
You have one of the "SWEET" quaker parrots, cherish him loke gold!! Our Scooter just died, he was 10 and was a companion just like your baby. He LOVED to rub your cheeks and preen your eye brows and eyelashes then rub your face. He was the most gentle Quaker bird ever. He was a buddy, he was a companion, he was one of a kind. Enjoy your baby, don't take him for granted, he's a very little green angel in a bird suit.
Thank you for your comment. I am sorry for your loss, but I am glad that you have so many wonderful memories of such a loving creature. It's amazing how much joy and light our pets bring into our lives and hearts.
@QuakerVille I too have a very sweet, affectionate quaker. He's the BIGGEST part of our lives, and the thing that brings me the most joy. I actually call him "My little green Angel". :) I do not want to know the pain you must have went through.
@QuakerVille I'm a huge fan of your website and I didn't read your name I was just reading your comment and when you said Scooter I was thinking maybe that's the Scooter from QuakerVille...? Then I read how you signed it and I was like OMG!!! I loved your birds and I cried when I read that they died... You had the most amazing quakers... I'm so sorry)=
