@HABRADASHR It hasn't been tested against these sytems yet. While it might be able to fool trophy (doubtful) it is still easy meat for a Iron Fist system to destroy. So your countermeasure bluff has been called and your countermeasures futile. Better luck next time.
The iron fis works is similar to the trophy system,so its likely that it will work against it too.And even if it doesnt work,what makes you think that there wont be a countermeasre against it withing the next 5 years or so.Everyoen was saying how tanks would become invulnerable to ATGM and RPGs one the trophy system was developed.Look how that worked out(sucks to know that its obsolete before it even entered service).

The newest version of Trophy is now designed to foil RPGs with anti countermeasure systems. Iron Fist was designed at the start to combat these newest RPGs. The Iron fist has been cleared and is now installed on amoured vehicles of all types. It has shown to be effective in destroying RPGs and even tank rounds. Finally, i am German. So i know good tanks and thier systems. We have been building them better than the Russians since tanks became cool. Cheers!

@cekuhnen well the main reason Europe buys most Russian tanks is because there is more abundance of them in quantity then the American Abrams and because they are cheaper to produce and maintain, it all comes down to price and quantity.

I love it how you army folks praise the quality of the M1 when compared to the ill equipped Iraq army but completely cancel out the maintenance issue and fall outs in Iraq - like with the Sherman M4 which broke down more than. So if we were warring against China, chances are the US, Germany and most likely Russia would be fighting on the same side.
Point is, US, German, Russian, British tanks are ALL effective.

In addition to using Chobham armor systems with depleted uranium in the laminated lattice matrix along with ultra hard ceramics and kevlar. Abrams are even known to survive point blank hits from other abrams 120mm cannon using M829A2 depleted uranium anti-tank sabot rounds. The M829A2 was developed and deployed to defeat Kontakt-5 reactive armor.

Today's weapons have range and power only dreamed of 70 years ago. But the ability to hold and defend the ground would fall to fewer and much more well-equipped soldiers.

m1 is a great tank for desert, or a big flat grassy area. But, if m1 ever rolls onto,lets say, Serbia (my country) or anny other forested mountain country, i don't think it would have so good performance as in iraq, because: How do you expect tank like that to go across mountains and forests? In Serbia there are only 2 highways, that go through river valleys, everything else is mostly mountains with bad roads. Picture m1 going through mountain, and 10s of rpgs firing at it from woods. Boom.
You know, it is a really nice tank. Its just too bad that tank are going to be obsolete in a few years on a modern battlefield. The idea is that now, missiles can be used to take down a tank. They're much less expansive than another tank and they don't risk millions of dollars worth of equipment nor a crew's life.

There are a lot of paper tigers out there but the M-1 has proven it self in combat. Russia makes some nice cheap tanks but not on par with the M-1. The T-72 and T-80s have performed poorly in combat and the T-90 is just a T-72 with part from the T-80 added and a few other modifications. As they say you can make a silk purse out of a sours ear. M-1 is one of the best.

The T-90 can launch anti-aircraft missiles by the main gun and has a 125mm gun just like the Abrams.... There is no way the Abrams can defeat the T-90
The older M-1s mauled the T-72 in Iraq. The T-72 gun(same as the T-90) were ineffective against the M-1's armor while the M-1s easily destroyed the T-72s. The T-90 is basically the same tank, its reactive armor (poor man's armor) has many limitations and is far less effective against armor piercing rounds. The M-1 uses a composite armor with uranium plated over it. The T-90 also suffers many other limitation that make it a far less capable tank then the M-1. The M-1 has a 120mm gun.
@Kevbo75 You are wrong in many aspects... the T-72 can sure penetrate the M1's armor... in fact only a few T-72 saw action with M1s in Desert Storm. The US government says that to just look cool. In fact the takers say that the turrets moved "slowly" because the tankers were crancking it by hand and that was T-54. You mostly encountered T-55 a T-62.. Only a few T-72 and the T-72 gun is 125mm just like the T-90. BTW the T-90 has added armor..
The commander of an Iraq tanks unit said he started the war with 30 T-72. After weeks of air bombardment he had 27 tanks, after a 6 minute engagement with M-1s he had none while inflicting no damage on the M-1's.
The armor on the T-90 is only slightly increased with most of the additional protection coming from ERA. The composite armor used is of ceramic beads poured into spaced armor. Russia lacks the ability to build western composite armor so they use this inferior alternative.
Facts are sometimes hard to swallow, read the book "Armored Cav" They talked with a number of people in the gulf war. Not sure what your last line meant, the M-1 is armed with a 120mm.
Other limitations of the T-90:
- Ammo is stored with the crew creating a death trap when penetrated.

Its funny how a lot of Americans are discussing tanks they have never driven, worked with or fought against. Same with people of other countries actualy.
I bet most of those people don't even have their drivers license yet. All I can say is: I like tanks. They're massive, they've got firepower... and hippies cant stop it by putting a wheel clamp on it.
Wish I could drive a Leopard 2 atleast once.

More maybe...most of them are piles of out-dated rusted shit T-72's and older built for the cold war. Russia employs less than 1000 of their T-90's while the US alone has over 8,000 M1 Abrams in our arsenal. Thats not counting the M1 Abrams used by other countries like Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Australia and even the couple hundred we just gave Iraq.

@swatAo1 Yes it would be epic and very different than WW2. We wouldn't see massed armor like we did back then; that would be pure attrition. Intel and maneuvering of smaller mixed battalions of infantry, armor, and artillery focused on utilizing air and naval resources would be the standard in a modern total war battlefield. Today's weapons have range and power only dreamed of 70 years ago. But the ability to hold and defend the ground would fall to fewer and much more well-equipped soldiers.

@Weirdo1743 that bubble is part of the gyro stabilization system for the main gun wich keeps the weapon leve at all times over any terrain to ensure a hit on enemy armor while on the move.

m1 is a great tank for desert, or a big flat grassy area. But, if m1 ever rolls onto,lets say, Serbia (my country) or anny other forested mountain country, i don't think it would have so good performance as in iraq, because: How do you expect tank like that to go across mountains and forests? In Serbia there are only 2 highways, that go through river valleys, everything else is mostly mountains with bad roads. Picture m1 going through mountain, and 10s of rpgs firing at it from woods. Boom.

You know, it is a really nice tank. Its just too bad that tank are going to be obsolete in a few years on a modern battlefield. The idea is that now, missiles can be used to take down a tank. They're much less expansive than another tank and they don't risk millions of dollars worth of equipment nor a crew's life.

I dont get the comments here, this video is about my tank. As a United states citizen this is my tank. I am proud of it because of that and its my right as an American to be proud of my military. Just like im sure at one point the people of Iraq were proud of they're tanks because it was they're military's tank. The title of this vid does nothing to boast about it being superior to everything it simply says in action. If it was the worst tank in the world I wouldn't care because its mine.

There are a lot of paper tigers out there but the M-1 has proven it self in combat. Russia makes some nice cheap tanks but not on par with the M-1. The T-72 and T-80s have performed poorly in combat and the T-90 is just a T-72 with part from the T-80 added and a few other modifications. As they say you can make a silk purse out of a sours ear. M-1 is one of the best.

@Kevbo75 The T-90 can fire Anti-Tank missiles within a range of 5km. has a faster speed than the Abrams the Abrams uses 3 time the amount of fuel the T-90 need and the Abrams has uranium armor witch is inferior to the Composite Armor used in the T-72 and T-90.. The T-90 can launch anti-aircraft missiles by the main gun and has a 125mm gun just like the Abrams.... There is no way the Abrams can defeat the T-90

The older M-1s mauled the T-72 in Iraq. The T-72 gun(same as the T-90) were ineffective against the M-1's armor while the M-1s easily destroyed the T-72s. The T-90 is basically the same tank, its reactive armor (poor man's armor) has many limitations and is far less effective against armor piercing rounds. The M-1 uses a composite armor with uranium plated over it. The T-90 also suffers many other limitation that make it a far less capable tank then the M-1. The M-1 has a 120mm gun.

@Kevbo75 You are wrong in many aspects... the T-72 can sure penetrate the M1's armor... in fact only a few T-72 saw action with M1s in Desert Storm. The US government says that to just look cool. In fact the takers say that the turrets moved "slowly" because the tankers were crancking it by hand and that was T-54. You mostly encountered T-55 a T-62.. Only a few T-72 and the T-72 gun is 125mm just like the T-90. BTW the T-90 has added armor..

The commander of an Iraq tanks unit said he started the war with 30 T-72. After weeks of air bombardment he had 27 tanks, after a 6 minute engagement with M-1s he had none while inflicting no damage on the M-1's.
The armor on the T-90 is only slightly increased with most of the additional protection coming from ERA. The composite armor used is of ceramic beads poured into spaced armor. Russia lacks the ability to build western composite armor so they use this inferior alternative.

Facts are sometimes hard to swallow, read the book "Armored Cav" They talked with a number of people in the gulf war. Not sure what your last line meant, the M-1 is armed with a 120mm.
Other limitations of the T-90:
- Ammo is stored with the crew creating a death trap when penetrated.
- Cramped fighting quarters limits crew to 5' & promotes fatigue.
- Gun depression very limited.
- Quality issues
- Auto-loader has maimed and killed crew members.
- Engine failing to meet claimed HP.

@Kevbo75 -the ammo in the T-90 is stored differntly, - In war no confort is needed and the T-90 has a better ventilation system, in the contrary the an this occurred 2 times in which an Abrams was shot by an AK47 in the ventilation system caused an explosion inside.
