@dankcro: Yeah. Technically, the album was released 2 months after Windows 95. (I just looked it up) but took a year to make, so the song was definitely cut before the OS came out.
@CJAnonymous Well, that doesn't amaze me at all since Tomita's electronic reinterpretations of Debussy's piano music were made long before the first Apple-I was being sold. But I gave you a thumb up immediately after reading the name "Windows 95" because that OS, this kind of music and a lot of other things happen to share the same wonderful place in a corner of my brain. Love the nineties!
Some songs will always give me a chill down my spine when I listen to them because of the time period in which I first experienced it.. This.. is one of them.
ok guys, i found the one i was looking for! thanxs!! it is "silverside" but now, after hearing so much more of their music, i'm not so sure that that is my favorite anymore!! it's all good! :)
i never saw the c.d. that i'm thinking of because a friend burnt it for me, so i don't know the name of it, and yah u guessed it, i don't know the name of the song either, but i do know that it was the third song on it, and it's an awsome song that sounds like there is a growl in there. yah, i can't even describe it except to say, that i will keep searching till i find it...
@m1kewithaone How long ago was this? How many tracks were there altogether, roughly? Was it rather abstract and jumpy/nonlinear or more spherical/simply structured, like this one? That way you could rule out some albums.
Great vid, works really well. With a bit of after effects works, that section of dusk falling with the vehicle lights masked/timed to the music would work really well
@Intelectual95 if youre IQ was that high youd realise that a computer program doesnt make the song for you..
and also, hardly anybodies IQ in the world is that high...
and this IS real music.. music is a collaboration of notes that sounds good to people. just because YOU dont think it sounds good.. doesnt mean its talentless, nerdy, or not even music
youre calling all people that listen to Autechre nerds.. which is completely wrong..
My vision is fine and I'm the vocalist in a deathcore band..
I first saw this video a few yesrs ago,and since than,i've seen it lots of times but it never gets old... whoever made this clip,he is a MASTER!! Great work.
im pretty sure now, that tri repetae has to be the best (actually my favorite) electronica album I've ever put my ears on. the whole jazzy mechanical beauty this album creates is unbelievable.
@akrotirifry9 yeah its just that nothing comes close to it. its just out there in another world and this track emits this "alienated but beautiful" vibe perfectly.
@locustskater I think I had it in mind already at the time, or the whole album rather, but I didn't shoot it as a definite video for the track. I only decided it later on I think. I made lots of time lapse videos back then and this wasn't more than another time lapse experiment before I started editing, but then I quickly settled with the track.
Love reading the things people associate with this vid, some very specific, others more a general feeling of some kind, although all very interesting since I too of course have drifted into the "huge ever-growing pulsating brain" (yes this is Autechre but just had to) and so on into the wonders of the ambient universe of awesome pads and sweeping sinewaves :D
When I used to listen to this song back in the mid 90's, I would always dream of a clinical, dystopian future, where there'd be some cybernetic machines operating in unison, until the part where the tracks starts to "malfunction" and then you'd see the rise of Artificial Intelligence in one of the robots. I think someone stole my imagination and made that movie AI.
Irrespective if this suits the song, which it does, you have very good cinematic composition. I love how the clouds run along the edge of the shot, framing the the scene. The placing of the camera works perfectly, giving the road that excellent long shot perspective. You did well.
I love the footage you took, it works so well with an already amazing song. I thought this was his actual music video the first time I saw it. Nice job man.
ive started to love autechre for their subliminal touch. there is something about their tracks that i cant quite put my finger on and this magic was first unleashed while listening to this album. its just, everytime i try to get into their later stuff, i just get bored to quickly and it really frustrates me because i know there is more than that.
someone should post up a slightly slowed down version of this, like the one Elsewhere's robot dance video. I think it sounds better a tiny bit slower.
You dont have to film things, you can find clips andd put them together and edit the colours and color correction edit like in this video, unless you want to have full experimentation control that is...
@djpuffthethird ...same here. I love this and what a fantastic job the video is. A professional director with a fat budget couldn´t have made a better job.
Fantastic!!! I come back to it every so often because it immerses me into a little world that words just cannot explain. You have to live it to know how it feels.

@azynkron Loads of things probably, not necessarily would everything be better, I guess the whole video wouldn't happen today, but I imagine it still was an important experiment of sorts.
@alexamada For me it has to be Reniform Puls from Draft 7. Amber was a fantastic album though. Its the only one i can listen to from start to finish without skipping tracks.
This truly has an isolationist sound to it, it evokes some sort of outer space atmosphere where you feel lonely and hopeless, away from human civilization, awaiting for some rescue mission but aware it might be years of solitary confinement in the out there. Truly a great track.
@mutedisease Hmm. To me, it evokes more of a "working around the clock to get back home" vibe than a "years of solitary" vibe. There's something about the beat that makes me think of productivity.
@mutedisease The reason why I love electronic music, and it is the way of the future is everyone can come up with their own interpretation of the sound waves. Music that tells you how to think is obsolete, music that triggers your thinkingis the way of the future....
