That trail is well known for rattlesnakes. So if you go any season be very careful for them. That would be a long wait for help and most cellphones don't have service way back on the trail.
Take the Greenbriar entrance to the Nat'l park, about 11 miles outside of Gatlinburg, I think the hwy is 32 or 31- it's tha state rt that goes to Cosby, Tn. Enjoy and don't give up....it's long and hard. Well worth it. Then do Mt. Sterling....
the hike was alright, probably because i was only 23 and i had been in the military before. It does, however, require a certain level of finesse to be able to complete the hike though.
Thank you. This is on property that used to be owned by my ancestors. Francis Ramsey, and his son J.G.M. Ramsey, held deed to 5,000 acres of land at the boundary line of North Carolina and Tennessee in the early 1800s. This 5,000 acres is where you will find Ramsey Cascades. This is how it got its name. Up until US Gov. took it over it was in the family. It was so kind of you to share this video with everyone. I know the hike was not easy and I congradulate you for doing it.
Congratulations on making the hike. Was it very difficult? It is rated streuous, but it must have been worth it. Thanks for showing what it was like.(What country are you from?)

That's neat! We live in Tennessee, just hiked up there June 7th, love it. Hard hike, saw a HUGE 6 ft long rattler, counted 13 rattles last year...
