herb alpert is great! he was my inspiration and got me playing the trumpet back in 1971 when i saw here comes the brass on t.v., it is my lifetime dream to meet him in life, i have listened to his music since 1964, and still loves them to this date!!!!!!
Noone my age knows who this guy is, yet everyone my age knows his music. Even Biggie Smalls was a smart enough rapper to sample Herb's music. It's a pity noone since has... It'd be the best hip-hop track to come along in years.
I was very much into the TJB's music even though it was well out of fashion with youngsters from my generation. I taught myself keyboards partly through learning Alpert's famous songs. He seems to be a great guy. We need more people like him in show business.
Herb sums up to me the best thing about having the good fortune of celebrity and fame which is the ability to share it with those less fortunate. He is a true humanitarian and great artist. I've always been a huge fan of Lani too.
Herb and the TJB - among the first records I bought as a kid in the 60's. Always thought Herb was the coolest - this proves it - true for all these decades. Good on you Herb and Lani! And Karen ... some people just seem to have the voice of God in them when they play or sing. She was one of them.
One of my favorite interviews ever! I have always liked Herb Alpert, and his music, but after seeing this I have a new admiration and respect for him and Lani. They are truly blessed people and are sharing their blessings. What a wonderful example. We should all try to be more caring and giving as they are. God bless you both.
Great piece on an amazing musician! Can't but get chocked up during the "Carpenters" portion...Karen fans can not help but the same "What if..." Its so great to see the respect he still has for here 40 years later...
What a great profile on Herb Alpert. My wife and I saw he and Lani perform live at Seattle's Dimitriou's Jazz Alley on May 14th. They were incredible and took questions from the audience. It was the best concert I have ever attended. He is touring the country so check him out.
Me encantó.
Long live Herb!
