i bought a 9 cell battery for my latitude d620 last week for 34 bucks..... but its designed capcity is only 73 whr although it was supposed to be 85 whr. and besides after charging it for 3 times it got a 12.9 % wear and now only 63 whr left which keeps my laptop on for 2 hrs 45 minutes with full brightness, wifi on and watching an hd movie....
ususally that means the battery is overheating. when i used to use my d600 the battery had the same problem. (constantly thought it was overheating when it wasnt. very annoying.)
I hate dells but i have one. its called dell inspiron 9400, the battery has died so i brought one on amazon. when i got it i only noticed that there was no dell logo .inserted the battery. and dell bios has noticed that the battery type was different.
and it didn't charge. and thats why i hate dell laptops, the company wants every part for their laptops brought by costumers and no other company can make the parts. it may have a self breakdown.
I accidentally tried to use a battery while it wasn't quite clicked into place and got this, even after I clicked it in... I was scared I'd permanently damaged it, but it was okay after I held down the button on the battery for a while (it's a very old model of battery) and plugged the computer in.
Have you fixed it already? I have a latitude e5500, and it does the same but... The battery lasts at least 1hour and 40 min so I don't think it is dying :(
i just got a d620 and it keeps telling me the battery is dead after about 10 minutes of use even though it was fully charged. does that mean the battery is broken? :<
Try to check it's discharge/charge linearity with BatteryMon or similar software. Those lines should be straight. If there is a drop while discharging, for example, immediate drop from 30% to 5%, the battery is damaged.
I checked with BatteryMon and I had a normal decrease ( the battery fully charged should keep my laptop running for about 1h and a half, give or take ).
The stats with a decrease from 97% to 27%, are( values for this point of decrease ) :
Capacity : 7874 / 29600 mWh
Capacity drop : 19225 mWh
Discharge rate : 23547 mW
I saw no sudden drops during the test.I search the web and other say this might happen when the battery gets real hot ( above 140 F).
I bought a 1525 a few days ago, and last night I felt asleep with the laptop plug-in.When I wake up in the morning I saw the led was flashin ( and the laptop was all hot ).I turned it off, waited until it cooled down and stared it again. The led wasn't flashing no more, but I'm concerned I damaged the battery after all.I'll see in a couple of days...( the battery is charging properly now ).
This means that battery is dead or has a major defect and will die soon. Mine started blinking and died after two days of usage. It still blinks, but if power supply is disconnected computer goes down immediately.
When rebuilding battery, it is not enough just to change internal cells (6 pcs of them). These batteries have internal programmable controller which remembers cell state and will act the same with new ones. It has to be reprogrammed when new cells are in place.
Hey My POS Dell Inspiron 6000 does the same thing! But it's now just blinking orange. I am thinking about rebuilding the battery. I have no idea were to start so I will learn up and try it on another POS laptop I have around.
