Both large, old, ugly geniuses...I feel really sorry that Mr. Masur was not elected state president of Germany. He would have been a wonderful ambassador.
(Or maybe not, because high culture is not any longer "en vogue" in Germany. Too many people read "BILD", watch privacy TV and buy fast food.)
I believe this was the last piano concerto. that Mozart wrote and his output and intellect produced some wonderful gems in his 27 Piano concertos . I liked the delicacy and sonority in Emil Gilels playing....Thankyou for posting :):)
yes,the last one and by the way,the rondo [last mouvement] is tracing back to the famous german folk-song "Komm lieber Mai und mache, die Bäume wieder grün",by mozart.
the gewandhaus-orchestra,tremendously playing,on such an exemplary level.
I love Gilels` playing between 0:00 and 3:59 ^o^
lol

@Dominosteine42 Kurt Masur would have easily won the election for New York City mayor after he resurrected the NYPO :-))
It was an extremely wonderful experience to see them live - Maestro Masur and the Leipzig, just extraordinary! Thank you for sharing.
