  • web woman was built perfectly!!! 8)

  • GREEN LANTERN KNOCK-OFF (don't know how that'll hold up at the box office given the dismal reviews, though).

  • And even in 1978,Alan Oppenheimer's remarkable(and familiar) voice was certainly

a value for Filmation shows,,as exampled in the "WEB WOMAN" segment from

"TARZAN AND THE SUPER 7"-many years before he voiced "Skeletor" on "HE-

    MAN" in 1983

  • HA HA! Spider-man rip-off!

(why did I do that in a Phil Ken Sebben manner?)

  • It's a real shame the networks have totally abandoned Saturday morning cartoons.

  • Dr. Despair sounds like Skeletor!

  • @elmacbee You are correct as he was voiced by Alan Oppenheimer, who also worked on other Filmation shows such as Fraidy Cat, Fabulous Funnies, Blackstar, Hero High, She-Ra, Ghostbusters (1986 animated version) and the last one, BraveStarr. Now that's dedication!

  • Web Woman drowned all her locust friends.

  • I wonder if anyone is going to put an episode where the madame of the circus reveals her true appearance. I got scared when I was a kid, now I'm ready to face my fear. Thanks a million!

  • gotta luv ya 4 having web woman

  • Palitoy, you're a toonhead after my own heart

    thanks for posting : )

  • They had the coolest transforming of characters back then. A shame they don't have such cool moments around anymore.

  • Everyone tells me I imagined this cartoon

  • Looks like a lawsuit.

  • Well, I'm hoping that they release this cartoon on DVD. It's been 26 years since I've last seen it.

Saturday Morning cartoons are garbage nowadays, but then again, they have been for the past 15 or so years.

  • Ehh, not every single one of 'em. The Bruce Timm DC universe productions are today, what Filmation's DC animated shows were in yesteryear...

  • WOW, I'd forgotten about this altogether 30 years? Web Woman had the coolest ship and lair. I hope Filmation releases this along with Tarzan: Lord Of the Jungle on DVD.

  • I am sorry to say that Filmation hasn't existed since 1989. It was bought by L'oreal who instantly closed the company down and sold everything it owned to Hallmark, who never did anything with the materials. Now, Entertainment Rights in England own most of the Filmation catalog, but Web Woman and Tarzan are owned by the network that commissioned them - CBS. And they're not likely to do anything with them at all.

  • @hcvang My understanding is that WB owns the rights to the Tarzan cartoons because they have overall rights through the Burroughs estate; one segment came out on one of their "Best of Saturday Morning" DVD compilations. But because Marvel and DC threatened to sue over the other characters since they were so blatantly close to more famous superheroes, Entertainment Rights will probably never reissue those segments.

  • Jeez! Buzz Dixon wrote this? Didn't he write for Sunbow animation or something?

  • This is nuts. Tell me why this Filmation gem isn'ton DVD. She's nothing like Spiderwoman. She came first and she's a hell of a lot more pretty and sexy!

  • It's not on DVD because it's owned by CBS, I believe. They also seem to have ownership over Filmation's Tarzan series, and their Mighty Mouse series, and I know their Mighty Mouse series will never see light of day again - CBS doesnt own the "Here I come to save the day" theme, and apparently it would cost them hundreds of thousands of dollars to do anything with it.

  • Dr Dispair can only be defeated with intergalactic antidepressants!

  • Makes me miss those Saturday mornings with fun cartoon and sugery cereal. Thanks for the memories.

  • Dmn man tarzan and the super 7 nice drop.

  • God damn dude you had to have pulled this one out of your ass. It's cool that I'm not the only cat that remembered the old school underground cartoons, but FTR cartoons aren't as good nowadays because you're not a kid anymore. Old school nostalgia aside Samurai Jack, Justice League, or Naruto is way better than this.

  • In my opinion, the animation style of Filmation has yet to be duplicated. Their special effects, done with moire effects, look miles better than any shimmer effects that are done today. Writing has changed, and matured, to be sure - but the old school action and sci fi shows still work for the age groups, they were designed for.

  • Filmation also refused to outsource any of their work out of the country, while every other animation company was outsourcing. Hurray Filmation!

  • Amen to that. It's impossible to produce animation shows - traditional animation - in the US today. The artists just aren't there! Nobody's being trained for anything other than CG animation! =(

Filmation took in new people, trained them and was the life and soul of the entire industry... Nobody else did that!!! L'oreal committed a mortal sin, when they bought Filmation and closed it to get a tax cut. They killed a cultural legend. One that will never be duplicated. Never.

  • Among the more fondly-remembered cartoons of the era. Thanks for the memories!

  • Filmation had the best animation on T.V I love how they drew the characters they looked amazing. More athletic better than Hanna Barbara's. Web Woman Manta Moray Tarzan Flash Gordon Space Sentinels Freedom Force All way to. He-man & Brave Starr. Did forget anybody? Probably nice job.

  • Man I watched this on Sat. mornings;around 1978 to 1981. Filmation's animation was far better than anything the networks put out on Sat. mornings nowadays!!

  • A Very Rare Cartoon!

Never Hear of Web Woman Before, but its a True Cult Serial.

  • I remember this segment from Tarzan and the Super 7! Man, it's a shame this won't be made available on DVD!
