In fact, the FLATGROUND ollie, in which the skater pops the tails and actually lifts the skate into the air WAS INVENTED by Mullen.

Allan Gelfand just jumped off of a ramp, no pop on the tail.

Without Mullen's invention, there would be no street skating at all nowadays.

But then later a) he started pushing the action further for airs - and you can't push a scoop further without touching the tail - and b) it became known as the ollie POP, both of which suggest that he was popping the tail off the tranny. The documentary evidence is very patchy, but everyone has attributed it to him so I don't think we need to argue, do we?
