it's nice to make jokes about mitchell on drums as long as you keep in mind that it was a pure manifestation of emotions and devotion and passion of being on drums that make the beat to the force of nature, jimi hendrix.
@JimmyPage97 You got to be kidding right. With a name like JimmyPage97 you can't be serious. He even is quoting as saying Jimi was a big influence on his playing lol.
Damn, looking right at him and still don't know what he was doing with that guitar? Jimi should have come around forty years later he would have been totally appreciated by everyone.
All guitar players are great. Page, clapton,Roads,VanHalen,Blackmore. But Hendrix is a totaly other level... Its Art... Its once in a lifetime. Just like Fokker or Jesus Christ.
@JimmyPage97 Sorry, I suck with names and don't really care anything about them. I know what he looks like and I know that I like his music. Who cares who makes the music anyways? The music is what matters, everything else is just secondary.
This is so amazing, some of those people definitely didn't know what they were hearing and watching. his music is a great gift to the world, I hope we never lose it.
@billingsdds I understand that, I often react like that to music, especially live, and just stare in amazement, but if I were at a Jimi Hendrix concert I would feel compelled at some point in the concert to move and share my emotional response with him. Not to say you didn't have a strong reaction. I'd be one of those people moving my body in every direction.

When the redone film and remastered audio come out this year they will cement Jimi's position as THE master. Then Black Gold will be the crown jewel shortly thereafter.
@jgcaesar4 Yes, both shows as well as sound check, Jimi reviewing the mixes in the studio under the stage and more footage. The Hendrix estate owns it and John McDermott and Janie Hendrix have spent a lot of time having it all restored. It's coming. And very soon.
@jgcaesar4 Apparently there is a lawsuit to ensure Experience Hendrix LLC has sole and complete ownership so it has been delayed. But it is finished and both Feb. concerts and soundcheck are in the new movie.
@jgcaesar4 Black Gold was a project that Hendrix began to work on prior to his death in September 1970. He had hoped to create a cartoon movie focusing on a main character by the name of "Black Gold". The cartoon was to have accompanying music, which Hendrix had already begun working on prior to his death. The "Black Gold" that mcleanartists is referring to is a set of cassette tapes that Jimi gave to Mitch Mitchell while they were in Hawaii working on Mike Jeffery’s Rainbow Bridge project.
The tapes contain 15 tracks that are assumed to be preliminary recordings designed to accompany the cartoon Jimi had hoped to create. The tracks were recorded on Jimi’s personal recorded and contain Hendrix on his Martin acoustic guitar and no one else.
@MidnightLightning25 Hendrix never directly explained to Mitch what the tapes were for, but Mitch assumed Jimi wanted him to listen to the tapes so that he could get acclimated with conceptual framework of the music prior to perfecting it in studio. Unfortunately, Jimi passed away before any more could be done with the Black Gold project. Mitch kept the tapes in his basement for many years, as he for whatever reason, assumed that they were not the fabled Black Gold recordings.
@MidnightLightning25 Then in the early 90's Mitch discovered that the tapes were in fact the Black Gold recordings and he turned them over the Experience Hendrix LLC, where they remain to this day.
@MrMeddled woah woah man, mitch was an amazing drummer, a jazz drummer infact, thats what all the "overplaying" is about. He is deffenetly not a shit drummer, nor an egotistical little prat. And yes i agree, buddys playing was really cool to, but only for some song eg machine gun (live at fillmore). Have u heard buddy playing songs like 'fire', it sounds like shit, mitch is the only one for some stuff though
This might be a bad video to write this on, no disrespect to Mitch, but am I the only person who likes the drumming of Buddy Miles and the Band of Gypsys better along side Hendrix? Mitch seems kind of all over the place (and so is hendrix for that matter haha) but Miles seems to be a cooler funkier backbeat while Jimi shreds.
What most people do not know is that most, if not all,rock/pop music that has guitar in it after Hendrix is all based on Hendrix. Today in 2011 you can still hear it in all pop genres. I don't mean to spam but I put some of my recent original music online. If you want to know how heavy Hendrix influenced music sounds today click on wiszrock. I think you'll like it.
I have never seen or heard this. I almost 60 and been listening the The Master since I was 14. What an incredible live performance. No wonder Clapton wanted to just hang up his guitar after seeing Jimi perform.
@klinklin10 It's on on The Jimi Hendrix "Experience" [Live at The Royal Albert Hall 2/24/69] [Soundtrack, Import]. I'm not sure if it's on another CD.
