This is a great video promoting Goldberg v. Bam Bam and the Nash issue. I wonder if they realized there was a wrestling match breaking out before the 4 minute mark.
@crabman66606 Yeah, it was kinda humorous hearing both guys using the theme at the same time in different promotions. Surprised WWF would use such generic stock music for a pushed guy like Mero, even back then. A year earlier, the WWF was using Luger's theme on the commercials for their hotline. I assume it was intentional.
@ JackJeckel, No, this was after The Renegade character was basically exposed for what it was by Jimmy Hart. After the match with Kevin Sullivan, he began wearing this outfit and jobbed 99% of the time
@ efan64 nah nobody could have saved that company. the wrestlers were being paid FAR too much money and that was the biggest problem that ultimately led to the destruction of wcw.
@Cosmic86x yeah, I agree with you, but nash is a better wrestler than hogan skill wise alot are better than hogan. he just got popular somehow and thats how he's so popular. wrath would for sure beat hogan if it came down to skill. nice post man.
In my opinion, the Renegade (or should I say THIS Renegade) DOES NOT LOOK LIKE the Renegade that was managed by Jimmy Hart! What happened to his Ultimate Warrior "clone" gimmick?
@Kontkaalnes WCW had a monster on their hands and he was getting over huge. So, Kevin Nash's idiot ass had him squashed by Nash himself in a match and the heat was gone.
@Blackson187 totally agree wrath was on a roll after me left james mitchell and mortis. course mortis got successful later with ddp and bam bam. anyways your right kevin nash screwed wrath.
WCW was stupid for giving the wrestlers the ability to write the story lines. It absolutely sucked. but renegade was great.. I thought he was better than warrior.
I forget what he called that finisher ... o yeah the meltdown.. bryan clarke did recieve a lot from pro-wrestling.. i wonder who was his best opponent, tag team partner and manager was?
Did the announces sell this match AT ALL? They hardly made two sentences regarding what was going on in the ring and spent the whole time selling the shitty PPV
@Rollermacka nash also booked himself to end both wrath and goldbergs streaks wrath for a short time looked like the next break out star until nash was given control of everything
This is why WCW went broke, the announcers spent 90% of this match talking about Kevin Nash. This was a decient match but once Nash took over, Nitro revolved almost soley around him
@CadillacL Not only was Wrath under-rated but so was Renegade. I think that they could have used him as Ultimate Warriors prodguie and they could have put him over a lot more. Lets face it he was a great wrestler and it is a shame that he felt he had to kill himself because how they treated him.
@fireheartis1 Yea, Renegade's suicide stunned me. When he first came to WCW, he had makeup, I thought he WAS Ultimate Warrior. Wrath deserved to be world champ.
@CadillacL I agree Wrath should have been World Champ, and Renegade should have been treated as his own enity when the real Ultimate Warrior showed up. If this would have happened we would have him still with us today.
Wrath was verrrrrry over! crowds loved the guy - he was one of the few big men i really could get behind, everything said in these comments about him are spot on!
WRATH was fucking money, I can't believe they blew it with this guy by feeding him to Kevin Nash before he ended Goldberg's streak. The worst thing was that Nash made the Wrath match look like a walk in the park.
yea thats his real name but when he wrestled as wrath he should of had a bigger role in WCW. he was going to have a shot at the WCW championship till kevin nash started bitching that he wanted the title shot. so guess who got the title shot. yep thats right nash did. the way WCW used Wrath remindes me of how WWF used Test for the first 5 years he was in the WWF. they didnt use him to his full potential either.
Wow, the commentators have such bad ADD... couldn't focus on the match at all! Also, it's a shame that WCW built up Wrath for so long and did nothing with him.
Wrath was one of my favorite wrestlers in that late 90's WCW days. It's funny that Brian Clark (Wrath) said it himself that Kevin Nash made WCW stop his push so they could put Nash over him on Nitro. I also thought that if WCW would have stuck around, Kronik would have been an even bigger name in tag team wrestling.
Yes I did and actually he spoke about it in a recient interview. He talked about how he had a pinched nerve in his back and Kane was still recovering from a staph infection and a blown bicep so considering how both men were pretty hurt they did the best they could.
Marc Mero left WCW back in 1996 and never came back. Marc Mero was in the WWF from 1996 to 1998 around in November. Marc Mero's music is used a lot, especially in commercials that has nothing to do with wrestling.
So I'm the only person that remembers "Renegade" Marc Mero? Why do you think he did that cartwheel in this match. A big guy like Rick Williams never had that in his arsenal. Marc Mero was the kind of highflyer that could do that.
