Sports quit being fun when they named the stadiums after major corporations. Egotistical BASTARDS! Jane Jarvis's organ should be piped into every stadium until someone gets a clue and brings back the heart and soul of the game for real. There are hundreds of competent organists, but Jane was special. The Thomas organs of the 1960's have a very big full sound. The perfect ball park organ. Digital sucks.
jane jarvis was a consummate musician. her playing was crisp, accurate and, most of all, musical! i hope the good lord has provided her with the ultimate instrument for her eternal enjoyment. god bless jane jarvis.
@jgraif Actually, Jane Jarvis is the only person who can say they "Played" for the Mets, Yankees, Rangers and Knicks...as she spent at least a day in Yankee stadium as a fill in, she did work at the Garden and of course she was the sound of Shea Stadium throughout my childhood.
Joe Christopher?, Rheingold Beer? miss Subways, The Hebrew National signs on the right and left field alleys of the polo grounds. Broken seats in the right and left field stands of the PG's. Reaching over the bleacher fence trying to get autuographs as the players walked down the stairs from the centerfield clubhouses. mens room was just a wall that everybody wizzed on. funny days
Lmfao of course the mets would have a gay theme song ... its just gay circus music... no rapper wud rap 4 da mets. yanks all day . mets Gl on ur 3rd world series . maybe your team would be worth 10m .. yankes 1.6 bil most expesive team in baseball
The lyrics to "Meet The Mets:" Meet the Mets, Meet the Mets,, Step Right Up and Greet the Mets.. Bring your Kiddies, Bring Your wife... Guaranteed to have the Time of Your Life... Because the Mets are really socking that ball... Hitting those home runs over the wall.. East Side, West Side...Everybody's coming down.. To meet the M-E-T-S Mets... Of New...York...Town!
She's up there playing along with Mr. Layton and Paul Richardson, organist for the Phillies.
From what other posters have written, Miss Jarvis had one heck of a long, full life!
If there is baseball in heaven, it must be a beautiful place. They have lots of the greats playing, Harry Kalas and Harry Caray behind the mike and several great organists. Mark Twain would be in the stands, as he was a fan.
I don't know whether to put Phil Rizzuto and Richie Ashburn behind the mike or on the field!
@TomFredericks187 jane jarvis (as well as eddie layton of the yankees) were celebrities in their own right who were inseperable from the teams for which they played. they "did it all", cueing the action of the entire game without the need of some idiot technical director. believe me, i know! i played several games for the washington capitals. the tech booth consistently "dumped me" at the end of every sequence i played because it was beyond their understanding that i could "time out" on my own.
Well Im a Mets Fan, and the Dodgers are my second favorite team, cause Im also a Brooklyn boy, and if the Dodgers dident move, i'd probobly have a B on my hat rather than an intersecting N and Y
First of all the Phillies are going to lose the world series against the Rays/Red Sox. Second, you guys got fuckin lucky off of bad terrible crappy plays against the Dodgers and Brewers, when they should of been out instead they were extra base hits, so don't tell Ryan Howard and Chase Utley to start T-bagging each other yet, cause Evan longoria is gonna kick your ass
No problem - for many years, there were bumper stickers here in the Philly area that said:
"Richie Ashburn - why the Hall not?"
Fortunately, as Whitey joked at his induction, he became an institution before he was in one.
Unfortunately, His Whiteness only lived another two years after his Hall of Fame induction before passing away at age 70 in a NYC hotel room of a heart attack in his sleep after broadcasting a Phils/Mets game at Shea.
aaaaahhhhaaaaahaaaaaaa losers! 2 straight years with the division lead with 17 games to go, and 2 straight years of CHOKING when it matters the most. i love it.
Hey the Cubs are still old school organ along with the Dodger's Nancy Bea.
All we need is to get rid of loser owners the McCourts, and keep the Dodger
Stadium (next fifty) renewal going.

Greatest Baseball Team in the world...ps the original wurlitzer organ was replaced
in 1974. I still remember the organist it was still in Madison Square Garden until 1982. Nothing got the fans jumping like that 1966 Wurlitzer....

From a diehard Met fan... I COULD NOT argue with you.
The reason why the Mets were even founded was to bring the National League back to New York and to fill the void left buy the Dodgers and Giants.

The Phillies suck?
Are you referring to the 2008 National League champion Phillies??
Where are the Mets? Oh, that's right - they're on the golf course.
(Yes, my screen name is in honor of a Hall of Famer who retired from the 1962 Mets)

yea i heard that about that just wondering did the mets of phils win the game?
rabble000 2 years ago
I just looked it up on baseball-reference*com. The Phils won 1-0 on Tuesday, September 9, 1997 in front of 13,871 at Shea.
Tyler Green won, Ricky Bottalico got the save, and Dave Mlicki was the losing pitcher.
1B Rico Brogna hit a solo HR in the top of the 8th as the only score in the game.
AshburnStadium 2 years ago
ricky bottalico wow he was on the mets also he sucked it was probably a rain delay or smtn cuz 13,871 is like new york islanders attendance
rabble000 2 years ago
Oops - let me correct that - the 2008 WORLD champion Phillies...
